Joe has no reason to fight over here. He already sells out bigger places in his backyard then he could sell out here, and he is a legend over there. What would the point be? Do any boxers really care about being accepted by Americans anymore? The only reason anyone wanted to come to America in the first place was to get big money and fight big names. Joe makes big money, sells out 50,000+ seats in his fights and has just destroyed the last two "big name" fighters that came to him. If I was Joe I wouldnt give half a shit about fighting in America. Would it be cool to see? Sure it would, but not if he fights Hopkins which he most likely will. That would have to be one ugly wrestling match if B-hop wants a chance at winning.
Yes. The money is huge in Vegas for one. More importantly, Hopkins is here waiting for him. Joe needs it.
I hope Hopkins uses it as a HOMECOMING retirement fight. Hop can sell 60,000 in his hometown too. Have the fight at the LINC
I don't agree with your latter statement. If B-Hop could sell 60k in Philly, wouldn't a good number of Philly fans be flying to his fights a la Mancunians with Hatton and Youngstown residents with Pavlik?
As per your former statement, I'd imagine the license fees in Vegas would be enormous for a Hopkins-Calzaghe pay-per-view. You won't see Calzaghe in a pay-per-view from Wales because of the time difference. The main event would start at 11 or 11:30 p.m. eastern, meaning dawn would be only a couple hours away in Wales.
If Philadelphia fans can find it in their hearts to boo Santa Claus, what would they do to Max Kellerman?
I heard Mayweather offered to fight Calzaghe in his bathroom in Wales for only 5% of the purse but Joe ducked him.
what Im saying is a fact though.. I know you live in the UK and those fighters will be your favorites.. but please dont lose sight of reality.
Calzaghe vs a prime Jones? I would loved to have seen that.
However Jones isnt the same fighter he once was so it would be unfair to make them fight now. Calzaghe has always been a better fighter than Hopkins and I I'm guessing that will be his next fight.
unfair?? not in Joe and frank warrens eyes.. Roy offered to fight in wales and only take 40% of the purse and they still denied him... Roy must be a threat in there eyes..
they would both get whipped, even in their primes, now they would just be hospitalised.
between your comments.. avatar. and sig.. its kinda creepy.. whats the infatuation with your hate for Roy?
PPV generates money, not having 50K people buying cheap tickets for a fight.
Besides Cal didn't even sell 10K before the Lacy fight.
Ya I agree with this post..
and also I think Joe's legacy will somewhat be critizisized if he spent his whole career on his home turf and retires that way.. not that he doesnt win alot of his fights concvingly.. But he has to be able to step out of his home court and deal with a USA crowd and has to come to impress even more since he hasnt got a hometown advantage.
but thats just how I see it. I hope his last couple fights are eally big names, or fighters who are a real threat for him, or else he will still have to deal with critics talking about his resume and also I dont know where he would really stand in all time p4p rankings..
unless he fights someone really big, I dont think he needs to come over here.
It would help out his legacy and stuff, but I dont think hes obligated to leave at this point. He has too strong of a hold on the 168lb titles.
id just wish he would fight some amazing and proven fighters who have held belts for long periods of time. He has fought one hit wonders through out he career after he beat eubank. I mean people are saying best fighter on the planet how the fuck can that be.
says the one with "FloydNO1KO" as screename

why should he? he could make alot more money in Europe and have a crowd 10 x's of that in the US. it should be US fighters bending over backwards to fight across the pond.
