Shane Mosley, the guy who has fought all comers. When no one wanted to fight Stinky the Twinky, Shane fought him. When no one wanted to tackle the Viper, Shane fought him. Win or lose, this guy was never scared to take on a dangerous opponent. So now, at 36 years of age, he steps into the ring against a human wrecking ball, a killer, in Cotto. Let's face it, the odds look stacked against the grizzled old veteran. If he somehow wins, if he pulls it off against the young lion, how much does it further enhance his legacy as a fighter's fighter?
PS-Leave the steroid shit at home, all the steroid talkers can go here if they need to vent and point the juiced up finger at someone http://www.barrybonds.com
Shane Mosley gets a little credit for beating Vargas twice. He gets a little more credit for beating Collazo(younger fighter). Now he has a chance to get a career defining win in Cotto. He has a good chance to beat Cotto because of the size and styles matchup. I'm a little worried about Mosley's age if it is a really gruelling long fight. Mosley can't regress in this bout or Cotto will come on and do damage.
I think if Mosley wins the fight(especially if he KO's Cotto) then he should think about ending the career in the Garden. This would make him a great in the eyes of many observers,....myself included.
If he choses to fight on and gets a bout with a victorious Mayweather and Beats Mayweather then he instantly becomes an ALL TIME great fighter.
If he loses to Mayweather then it's kind of back to being considered a really good fighter but not great.
I believe he will beat Cotto and then fight Mayweather. I don't know if he can beat Mayweather at his age. Mayweather is a smaller fighter and that gives Mosley a better chance. Remember the only times Mosley struggled with other fighters was when he fought taller, and :boxing: rangier fighters: DLH, Wright, and Forrest. All with good jabs and good strength.
though miguel isn't rangy he has both these qualities.
Mosley needs a big win

I will give tremendous credit to whoever wins this fight. In my mind this is not an easy fight for either man and the winner will be worthy of any praise they get although I will try to at least feign surprise when the usual suspects rear their ugly heads and try to discredit the victor by whatever means available.
Well said. What makes this fight so endearing is that it's as 50/50, pick'em as it gets. The victor in this contest deserves all the glory they get and shame on those "boxing fans" who try and detract from the winner's glory by making stupid excuses.

all karma means is that soprano or anorak disagreed with you. They are bitches.
Red is a badge of honor.
I concur. Red is the new green, get with the RED MOVEMENT.
Shane took steroids. And he injected EPO. So he is a known cheat.
Shane is either 2-0 or 1-1 vs Oscar. And that , essentially, is his legacy. The Vargas fights didn't do anything but get him money. And he is 0-4 against the other top fighters. He beat nobody of note at LW.
So, to beat a young lion would be a career-validating win, of sorts.
Also, Shane's entire early-career work is suspect because of his intensive steroids use. Presumably, he is off the juice now. So let's see who he is.
It should be noted that Cotto still bears a question mark.
Your opinion is your opinion, but c'mon man, you seriously think you're not pointing an over-scrupulous finger at a fighter (Mosley) who was never known to have any stamina issues (which EPO helps out) and at nothing more than an allegation at that???
If he was this perfomance enhanced freak as you state he is, would he not have been decimated at the hands of all the elite fighter's he's been fighting all these years? Surely somewhere along down the line his "juicing regimen" would have been interrupted in some way and he would have been brutally put away due to his advantage being taken away. But he never was, he has always been consistently competitive throughtout his career regardless of all the top tier comp he's been fighting. Bottom line is, he doesn't display the ups and downs in performance of a typical performance enhancing drug user (just like those roid heads in the gym who are big one week and shrink the next). The man is a consistent fighter who has lost at the hands of fighters with styles not conducive to his own. It's all legit man, he's not a cyclist doping up his blood to go the extra mile. Don't be so adamant over an allegation.
Well as of right now, he's known as the guy who beat Oscar. If you take away his win agaisnt Oscar, and I say win because he lost the second fight imo, then he's just a fighter with great skill and an average resume. Think about it other than Oscar, he has no big wins over prime fighters. No other wins really stand out. So it does wonders for his legacy to beat a very good prime fighter yeah.

Where do you get all this information on Mosley and steroids?
Are people allergic to this fight or some shit??
This is going to be the most explosive matchup in YEARS. :pat:
I agree, I can't freaking wait for this fight.
it will help his legacy for now but when cotto loses 4 out of his next 5 it won't seem so good in retrospect.
YOU'RE IN THE RED YOU'RE OPINION IS WORTHLESS.
You trying to tell me that Cotto's pickle wasn't tickled at the thought of taking on a 36 year old with a good name? Young up and comers salivate at the mouth to gain accolades at the hands of great fighters who have already peaked. I bet you anything that Ricky Hatton was ecstatic at the prospect of fighting a mid-thirties Tszyu. Don't try to twist it around here, a 36 year old Mosley winning this fight will be more impressive than a 26 year old Cotto. Cotto huggers are going to act as if Cotto beat a prime Mosley, please, rewind the clock 10 years and make Mosley 26 and I'd take Mosley by KO in 2.
HE RESPECTS MOSLEY DON'T GET IT TWISTED CAUSE SOME DIPSHIT ON THIS SITE GOT YOU ALL HATING COTTO.
