Andre Berto (undefeated welterweight prospect): "Hatton could pressure Mayweather the whole fight and beat him, or Mayweather could box the heck out of him. I may go against the odds with this and say Hatton will beat Mayweather. Going up in weight, maybe Mayweather will try sitting down on his punches, instead of the lightweight Mayweather, who kept moving. I don't see Hatton stopping him, but I'll say Hatton be decision."
The Ring, January 2008
Of the 20 experts to make selections, only 4 of 20 picked Hatton. The other 3 experts besides Andre Berto to pick Ricky Hatton were all journalists. Each work for British Boxing News, Manchester Evening news, and a freelance British boxing writer, respectively.
Kendall Holt (junior welterweight contender): "I think it's going to be an entertaining fight, a lot more entertaining than Mayweather and De La Hoya. Hatton will be strong in the early rounds, but he needs to pressure Mayweather into corners and that's near impossible to do. Toward the later rounds, Floyd will start taking over. Mayweather will eventually dissect Hatton. I give everyone a shot to win when they step in the ring, but Mayweather is too skilled and too smart for Hatton; he has too many weapons. I see Mayweather getting a 12-round unanimous decision."
....just don't let Jaidon be a commentator!!
lmao, maybe the dude seriously suffered some brain damage at the hands of Allan Green...holy shit I didn't know he sounded like that.
Paulie Malignaggi (junior welterwight contender): "It's not a good fight for Hatton. When Oscar got aggressive against Floyd, it caused Floyd some trouble. But you're also talking about someone much larger than Hatton. Hatton walks wight into his opponents. He won't be able to get inside that easy against Floyd. I don't see any shot for Hatton at all. He roughs-and-tumbles his way in. Floyd will pick him off. Hatton will pay a heavy price every time he tries to get inside. Floyd will stop him late or win unanimously."
There you go, I'm telling you, when Malignaggi's boxing career is over he would be the ideal HBO color commentator. He would make Foreman, Jones and Lewis look like doo-doo (well anyone can do that to Lennox).....Paulie needs to pick up a mic when he's done.
Boxingscene should hire Paulie Malignaggi as a guest celebrity columnist to especially make predictions on upcoming fights. I feel Paulie is one of the smartest and most articulate fighters around who in an unbiased manner breaks fights down and give great predictions. I love hearing that guy's thoughts on fights.

He has no personal experience with either fighter at all, and I bet Ive seen more Floyd and Hatton fights then Berto has.
HaHa.. Ok, Easy.
Berto has his qualifications.
"Mayweather vs. Hatton"
"What The Experts Are Saying"
The Ring called Andre Berto an expert.. He should be qualified regardless. He is an active professional fighting in the 147 pound weight class. He may be one of the most qualified of all the experts in certain technical sense.
I'd say he's a little more qualified than any of us..

Can we get a prediction from a boxer who doesn't suck ass now? Berto is going to get ko'd soon if he ups his competition up anymore. Hell, he was hurt by the last guy he fought. Kermit Cintron would destroy berto.
Paul Williams (welterwight contender): "I'll go with Floyd. It will be competitive, if Hatton goes after him. Getting close to Floyd could be a problem. Hatton can't outbox Floyd; he'll have to press him. But Floyd won't be there to be pressed. If the ref will let Hatton do what he's done in the past, it will be a close fight. I do give Hatton a chance. Everyone who goes in the ring has a chance. It could only take one punch to change a fight."
Like someone said earlier, I dont see Berto as being special or even that good, so his opinion is just as valid as anyone elses on here. I wouldnt call him an expert.

Soooo, when Mosley predicted Mayweather will beat Hatton, your logic says that Mosley is a stupid man and does not know his stuff.
Is that correct?
Mosley dosen't like Mayweather, he only said that because he wants Mayweather to win so he can kick his ass in a potential superfight. I like Mosley, but he has never been that smart.
Berto is the next Nostradamus
Hatton is to small and has the wrong style to beat the elite welterweights. When he fought Collazo he won the decision but took a beating. Collazo is no Mayweather. Hatton's claim to fame was beating an old Kosta Tzyzu who was washed up before that fight and wasn't a welterweight anyway. I like Hatton and am glad he's getting a good payday but while you can never say a fighter has no chance I would say that this would be a big upset if Hatton wins. Matador against the bull and in this case the matador is bigger and faster than the bull. Mayweather by lopsided decision
Sweet line.

If it is correct, he loses respect for his token black guy. The only black guy onhis personal list.
I guess you missed the Hopkins fight then eh, big guy?
Does that one fight, against a naturally bigger guy, really change the reasoning behind his post? You think Mayweather could knock out the guys that Hopkins has knocked out?
Squizzy,
If Floyd Mayweather says that he is gonna KO Oscar Delahoya, you would be skeptical. Because Oscar hasn't been KO'd, and Floyd hasn't KO'd many people at the higher weights.
SIMILARLY,
I am saying that it is improbable that Hatton will KO Floyd because Floyd hasn't been hurt, and Hatton has gone the distance with many guys of late.
That isn't triangular logic. That is deductive reasoning.
I guess you missed the Hopkins fight then eh, big guy?
First off I'm skeptical that Hatton would KO Floyd. Hatton is a stoppage guy and his record attests to that, but I don't think that he'll catch Floyd clean enough and early enough to wear him down for the stoppage.
Having said that to suggest that Hatton didn't stop Collazo, Urango, Phillips, Vilches or Tackie therefore he won't stop Mayweather is using triangular logic. You could have said the same thing about knocking out Castillo (never been down, only been stopped on cuts apart from the first fight with Chico) but you would have been wrong.
And when I objected to the notion that Hatton would be knocked out like Gatti was by mentioning that Gatti has been knocked down and knocked out by many people therefore Hatton who has been down once is unlikely to be stopped by Floyd you accused me of using triangular logic. Apparently it was erronious on your part as I was merely engaging in deductive reasoning.
Squeal vs DD is like the battle of heavyweights, it's always an interesting debate between the two.
