I actually watched it a few a times to see if any segments would feature:
- Floyd being showcased in his element in a brief bio (Preferably doing that eyes closed pad work routine. It would've wowed all the sheeple watching dancing).
- Floyd getting a little airtime to hype the fight and lead casual viewers to the Dec. 8th HBO PPV.
Other than a few blurbs the last couple of episodes on the latter, there was none of this. Shit, if you blinked you would've missed that the fight with Hatton was mentioned when it was.
He ended up coming across as "just a boxer that doesn't dance too good and maybe has an attitude problem" in front of a give or take 20 million viewer audience (seriously(?) demanded that the judges scores improve on his dance routines by the end). I guess we'll see if PBF performing on DWTS meant anything when revenues are tallied after December fight weekend. I just shook my head when it was all said and done. How in the world did he forget to plug himself cross-training and his upcoming fight? That was the whole point of being there and it would've helped boxing immensely.
Yeah it was obvious he did it in effort to work on his cross over promotion. People forget that Floyd is only 30 years old. I can only see him seriously boxing for no more than 3-5 years. When you're 35 years old and have a lot going for yourself, you don't retire in your rocking chair. You do more. He has another 50-60 years on his earth to accomplish things. He's made his money in Boxing and now wants to be known for more.
I don't blame him.
I personally think it did some good for him and for Boxing. Yes he came off as arrogant, but he also came off with a big smile and a boxer who could speak.
He did much better than Holyfield. He is young, clean look, considered the best in Boxing, not an old timer, etc.
I think him showing up represented the sport in a good way much more than negatively.
Exactly! He was just using it as a podium to shine.
That may be, but given Floyd's comments about the show beforehand it was clear he was doing it for both personal and promotional reasons.
They might. If a girl thinks a dude is hot, there is no limit what they will do to see him.
I had a few girls watch Mayweather/De La Hoya because they thought one of them was hot.
I think Floyd probably just wanted to do this for the hell of it, and if he got any publicity for boxing for it, then that was an added bonus.

Your compairing apples and oranges now. The 24/7 program was intended to DIRECTLY promote the fight itself. People who watched it are people who range from casual to diehard fans of the sport. It was intended to boost sales amongst the boxing world. I consider myself a diehard boxing fan, but there are some ppv fights that i would refuse to buy. Now u are saying that Floyd used DWTS as a promotional tool. People who watch that show are fans of the show. If they are boxing fans aswell, then cool, imsure they were planning on buying the fight anyway. I just dont see how being on the show would persway middle-aged women who have no interest in boxing, to purchase the fight. Does that mean that now, all of these woman are gonna start watching the Dallas Mavericks play, just because Mark Cuban was on the show?
Heres the thing man, boxing is an individual sport, Floyd going on a show is promoting HIMSELF and no one else.
Floyd going on DWTS WAS him attempting to directly promote the fight, every time Floyd said something, he referenced boxing, his undefeated record, his p4p status, and his upcoming with an undefeated champion from GB.

Why then, did Oscar and Floyd put on a promotional tour in 10 states, put together a 24/7 program, and have Oscar appear on late night tv shows to promote the fight then?
Are you saying that had DLH v Mayweather done no promotional work the fight would have still gotten 2.1 mil buys?

If I didn't know of Floyd and witnessed him on DWTS my first thought would be....." I hope that fucker Fights better than he dances.".
The other thing is he has the Charisma of a Bank Manager.
Did you see how he promoted the DLH fight?
He acted like a total douche, but played his part as the asshole villian, and ppv numbers blew up becasue of it.
He may be boring in real life, I have no idea, but I know the dude can sell a fight.
Well if these women (dwts viewers) have husbands who are casual boxing fans, then it would be safe to assume that these husbands have heard about this mega matchup, and had intentions of buying the fight ANYWAY!

Out of the TWENTY MILLION PEOPLE, do you think there are some who are mildly interested in boxing or may even consider themselves or their husbands casual boxing fans??
Do you think that is possible? Is that remotely within the realm of possibility?
Are you saying WITH CERTAINTY that there is not ONE PERCENT of the DWTS fanbase that is not interested in seeing FMJ fight?

Lying would be posting something false. Did i do that? Did u not type what i quoted u as saying?
Right your not lying, your just too stupid to know any better.
Give him a break, Dios.

Scenario B: A guy you heard alot about is fighting this weekend.
Deevel,
Tell me how this is wrong. Please explain in all your infinite marketing wisdom.
Ok, here's how. Whether u hear alot about a guy/fighter or not, how is that suppose to make u dish out $60 and purchase a fight, unless your an avid boxing fan? I here alot about Kenney Chesney, and how well his album did. But im not a country music fan, so i can give two shits about him. It will not encourage me to go out and buy his album. Boxing fans will undoubtly buy the fight. Being featured on DWTS will not make people who are not boxing fans, and had no intentions on paying to see Floyd fight, purchase the fight.
Thats pretty much what he is saying. Look.
"You may not like it, but DWTS is going to contribute to more buys. Watchthis fight do big numbers.
You have to be an alt, seriously.
I really hope people are not this stupid.
That's a fair assessment, but then again, if u use to follow Leonard or Tyson, then that would classify u as a boxing fan to some degree. What Dios is claming is, DWTS might influence non-boxing fans into paying $60 to see Floyd fight. While a very small fraction of those people might, i doubt is has a big impact on ppv numbers. The fight itself is big enough.
Theres no way anybody can be that retarted.
Please tell me you are just an alt trying to mess with people.
I don't know what Dios has said, but I doubt he's insisting that a bunch of middle-aged women are going to buy their first fight b/c of Floyd's dancing. That's not happening.
But most grown men have considered themselves fans of some fighter in the past, usually one of these four: Ali, Frazier, Leonard, Tyson.
If a fighter today wins back a small fraction of those, it's a good thing.

Its pointless to argue with you. You are one of the most biased Floyd fanatics as i have ever seen. He can do no wrong in your eyes. I bet if he openly admitted he was gay, you would turn it into something positive by saying "well he is the pfp champ, and has accomplished everything in the sport there is to accomplish, so why not try and explore different things? It might bring him exposure from the gay community"
So your saying that homosexuality is wrong?
