im a bigger fan of hatton , but i changed my mind , hatton has no chance. if faster stronger delahoya couldnt do shit to floyd then how is hatton going to do it ? hes going to get picked apart, and hatton is small , i see him getting stopped , he aint no baldomir or delahoya (sizewise)
Oscar is better than Hatton in every respect? I beg to differ. De La Hoya doesn't have much of an inside game, he isn't as fast... and just to make that clear, he isn't as fast. He doesn't naturally go to the body, he's never been a pressure fighter, he doesn't have the stamina and never did. De La Hoya's left hook to the head is a killer but so is Hatton's left hook to the body.
And Dios, you can see examples of Hatton's short inside punches in every single fight apart from Urango, most of the punches he throws are short hooks, he has a clubbing overhand right which is also a short punch and his body-punching is all about leverage. You'll also find wide slightly sloppy punches in just about all of Hatton's fights too, it just depends on what you're looking for.
We've already established that you dislike Hatton to a rather uncomfortable degree, so I doubt you will be able to watch any of his fights and be able to pick out anything he does well.

Bad matchup for Ricky.
I doubt it will ever come to fruition though, unless DLH will fight Hatton coming off a loss.
Delahoyas machine gunning to the body > hattons bodypunching IMO , i could be wrong. hatton might prove me wrong
you are dead wrong, thats not machine gunning thats slapping. De La Hoya is the better boxer, but Hatton has the leg speed advantage which could make things interesting except for his dangerously deficient height and reach.
I figure it like this...
Ricky's gonna have to invent a way (short of inserting lead pellets in his gloves) to effectively attack Floyd's body, cause I've never seen Floyd 'hurt' by body shots in any of his fights.
Just a thought.:boxing:
Hatton's hook to the liver is better than DLH's body work. Oscar has to load up on shots. Hatton can get inside, throw a six inch punch, and take a guy out. He's much better at short distance fighting.
P4P again... the question is, do you think Hatton could take a 154 pounder out with that punch?
I'm not saying Hatton's body attack sucks... it doesn't, clearly.
But I'm just saying that Floyd is going to be able to take these shots a lot better than some people think, since he is going down a weight class, and Hatton is coming up. Ricky has to make up for the 14 pounds of muscle that Mayweather felt by how naturally good of a body puncher he is.
^ God, what a horrible grammatically contructed last sentence.
I think Oscar would definately have 1 punch KO power if he fought 140 pounders right now, in his current 154 body. I'm not talking about pound for pound punching power, I'm talking about who's punches are going to hurt more on fight night against Mayweather, Oscar vs. Hatton.
Oscar punches harder because he is the bigger guy. Hatton is not going to be able to unload anything that Mayweather hasn't felt before. Believe it.

I agree but I meant pound-for-pound power. Hatton beats Oscar in that department, sadly that's the only department.
And whoever said Mayweather uses the "Philly Shell" should stop playing "Fight Night" so much. I guess he also thinks Jermain Taylor uses it too......it's a game, they gave them those styles to make them more elusive to hit while playing. They don't actually practice that style!
i can see hatton winning actaully, but it would be a horrible fight. Hatton holding while Fishnet Hoya taps hattons side super fast but with the sensitivty of a feather. haha. Plus if hatton hits hoya with flush shot, ODLH will be down and out like BHOP did to him.
I don't see Hatton winning the fight, but I also don't see how you can call Oscar "stronger" than Hatton. Oscar was never known for having brutal KO power, Hatton is known for that. (Well, to anybody who has seen him fight outside of the U.S. that is.)

haha...did you watch the DLH PBF fight....that wasnt de la hoya fighting....that was de lahoya sizing floyd up the entire fight....if DLH would have thrown some hands he would have killed PBF
he was scared of getting counter punched . he was scared of the speed
yes de la hoya is better than hatton in every aspect except age and stamina.
faster, smarter, more powerful, more experienced in big fights.
hatton has his style of fighting and he's been successful with it, so i dont wanna jus say DLH is better and leave it at that. p4p, yea DLH is clearly the better fighter, but hatton has alot of heart and a frustrating style, so both DLH and hatton are tough fighters to fight against for alot of boxers.
unfortunately, floyd isnt one of those boxers that is gonna have a tough time with hatton. it sux sayin this about another fighter because i respect fighters so much and i like hatton, but hatton really is gonna be dominated and outclassed. i honestly dont see him landing anything of significance.
i hope i am wrong cuz i would love him to make floyd fight so all the haters would shut their mouth and see floyd can and does fight and has heart, but i jus dont see this happening...

I wasn't impressed at all with Oscar's inside fighting. He may hit harder than Hatton on the outside, but it seems as if he needs space to be effective. Some people deliver harder shots from within close due to there technique and style. Hatton falls into this category.
If you watch the Mayweather vs Oscar fight, you will notice De La Hoya is not sitting down on any punches, using just arm swinging style punching while in close. I'd even say there was little power on his body shots thrown from the inside by Oscar. I'm not trying to say Hatton is going to beat Floyd without a doubt, or anything like that. I do understand Mayweather is a favorite in this fight. I just don't think comparing ODLH to Hatton has any relevance in this case. Two completely different styles.
And I think it is appropriate to ask the question:
While Hatton invests in bodywork, what will one of the best counterpunchers in the game be doing with his hands?
That is true... I just didn't think the DLH body work didn't work so Hatton's won't was really fair.
I'm not sure if Hatton's body shots will be any harder though, I'm almost sure they won't, however, the frequency of them might be a problem, that is Hatton's golden ticket.

Hatton is body first, De La Hoya is not.
