People have been very excited about Kelly Pavlik the last few days.
Is Pavlik getting hyped?
Or is Pavlik just that good?
MUTILPLE CHOICE POLL
Please pick ALL the fighters you see Pavlik beating.
Yeah exactly, he can outbox him, and have a good defense. his chin is Ok. he just took castilejo to easy. But he haven't been tested, the two biggest name he has got is De la hoya, and castillejo. But i would like too see that guy he fought, maselinoe masoe, he is not very skilled but he could Bang with pavlik. He got an iron chin, and great one punch knock out power, he just can't box, but he can't slug. have seen him against sturm and evans ashira
at MW the guy with the biggest chance to upset Kelly is Felix if he box perfectly and doesnt make mistake Abrham only blocks shot from his last fight and it looks like his steel chin is still not okay
how comes so many people think he can beat Lacy, Ok, pavlik could beat most of these fighters, but he can't beat calzaghe, and i feel lacy is underrated since his loss yto calzaghe.
if miranda get's hurt by taylor, he can sure get hurt by lacy who punches much harder then taylor or miranda
Dawson doesn't stand in front of his opponents like Taylor (largely) did with Kelly. He moves, gives angles, hits you and gets out. He dominated the first 9 1/2 rounds against Adamek because Adamek had no answer for his speed and defense. It's tough to get anything going when a guy is nailing you with crisp shots over your jab like Dawson was doing Tomasz.
In addition to this, you are making it seem like Adamek pales in comparison to Pavlik, which isn't accurate. Adamek was a legitimate, undefeated light heavyweight title holder. The guy has skills, he's pretty big, he has a lot of heart and he can box or brawl.
The Adamek fight was very encouraging for Dawson, seeing as how it was his first big title fight and he got up off the canvas to win in impressive fashion. He beat an undefeated champion in a rather one sided manner (apart from the knockdown). He is only getting better and better. The guy is talented enough to win fights on his jab and left hand alone, yet he shows new things in the ring every time he fights.
Kelly Pavlik, a fighter with a well rounded offense, good power and a ton of determination, would just be out boxed and possibly stopped by Dawson. Pavlik beats you by overwhelming you with punches until one finally gets you on the button. He wouldn't be getting to Dawson enough to get him in trouble.
Well, I think Pavlik has more power and a better chin than Dawson, not to mention the reach. Pavlik wins IMO. But, we're not going to agree on this so hopefully they will get a chance to settle the issue in the ring, Ok? Peace.
I agree that Pavlik was hurt worse than Dawson in the Adamek fight. But, if Dawson stands in front of Pavlik like he did Adamek, Dawson is getting knocked out. I mean that sincerely. Furthemore, Adamek was hitting Dawson. The Adamek fight is not encouraging for Dawson regarding a possible fight with Pavlik.

The fight was all Dawson up until the knockdown in the 10th. Jab, jab, straight left...double right hook, jab, jab. Rinse and repeat. Obviously Dawson slowed down...they were 9 and a half rounds into their fight.
Dawson is a young fighter and this was his coming out fight. Again, Adamek is no slouch. You don't think it's conceivable that Dawson found the fight easier than expected and was caught sleeping? I think that is valid speculation. He's a young guy and his focus probably wasn't all there when he Adamek caught him with that jab/cross which sent him down.
After that knockdown, Dawson did what he could with an opponent who threw caution out the window. Adamek jumped on him and Dawson fought him off, clinched a little bit, and moved out of the way of Adamek's wild haymakers. He actually landed a beautiful right uppercut which backed Adamek off a bit afterwards. Here are the rounds again...you be the judge.
You are sensationalizing saying that he "survived" that round. He wasn't hurt nearly as bad as Kelly Pavlik was in his fight against Taylor, nor was he holding for dear life or running from Adamek. He moved away, engaged with punches of his own, and kept his cool with an attacking, desperate, world class fighter in his face. He even took another good punch which backed him into the ropes and stayed composed.

Yeah, IMO, Pavlik wins by KO in late rounds even if they fought at 165. They won't be meeting at 175 though, IMO. So the point is pretty moot. I guess the real issues on the radar for Pavlik is the winner of Kessler-Calzaghe. Agree?
That's fine, that's your opinion. Yes Kessler/Calzaghe are more realistic match ups.
All I know is that Pavlik should stay away from Chad Dawson. The kid is everything Jermain Taylor wishes he could be.
I don't know if that's the reason Adamek caught him. It was probably more because Dawson slowed down at the end of the fight.
He didn't exactly get up either, if the fight went 15 rounds he probably could have lost it. He had to survive the last rounds.
Pavlik got knocked down and actually came back the very next round and took it to Taylor. Dawson was holding and doing everything he could because he wasn't all there for the rest of the fight.
Regardless, the weight classes are a little far apart, it's one thing to talk about super middleweight opponents, let's leave this there.

I think Winky and Nard would be his toughest fights. It gonna take a little more than power shots to beat Winky and Hop. He's gonna have to fight a smarter fight than in the past.
It's basically because those guys usually don't get hit clean in a lot of their fights. So if they are able to go the distance and take Pavlik into untested waters they pull off victories.
Faster hands, better technique, and he is much harder to hit. Dawson was tagged by two world class light heavyweights, but he picked up right where he left off once he got up. He was only decked by Adamek when the fight started getting too predictable for him and he started losing focus.
Adamek wasn't some hobo off the street either. Pavlik coming up that far in weight would be a bad idea against skilled light heavyweights with technique like Dawson and Adamek.
The big deal with Dawson is that he's a very well rounded young fighter with just about every punch in the book. The guy works behind a great jab, mixes sharp punches in combination behind that jab, and gets out before you knwo what happened. Taylor backed straight up and came straight in with punches. Pavlik would quickly become aware that he'd have to throw caution to the wind against Dawson like Adamek became aware of later in the fight, but it'd probably be too much to overcome by that point. He'd get caught pushing that jab out there.

I'm not kidding, I gave Adamek the last rounds clearly. He wasn't just a little buzzed, go back and watch it again. If that fight goes longer I think he's in trouble.
He "survived" in the round he got knocked down.
Be more objective, I've seen you pimping dawson the last few pages, just because you love a fighter doesn't mean they aren't flawed. The other fighter who knocked him down wasn't even an elite fighter, just strong.
Regardless, it doesn't really have bearing, Pavlik isn't going to move up to 175.
No he wasn't as hurt as you think he was so I suggest you watch the fight again. If he was hurt as bad as you say then Adamek should've finished him right? You're an ass clown buddy. I posted once in regards to Chad which was on this page explaining why I think he would beat Pavlik & I'm pimping him? If you would kindly remove Pavliks nutts from your mouth it would greatly appreciated fuck suck.
Dawson can easily make 168, maybe even 165. He just moved up to LH like last year. Pavlik's power would give him all sorts of trouble. It would not be a one sided fight. I'd bet all my points on that.
Don't get me wrong, I think Dawson is the real deal, but I believe the same about Pavlik, and there's no reason why he cant carry his power 5-8 pounds north. Adamek looked absolutely lost against Dawson. He just pawed with his jab all night, and he was so gun shy with his right hand because he was getting countered. Pavlik would at least let go.
You're kidding right? Chad was a little buzzed but he handled himself like a champion in the round where he was knocked down. Actually also finished the fight strong asserting himself again.

It's ok. But, I think they know what I'm getting at. Does Dawson have faster hands than Taylor? I don't think so. So what's the big deal with Dawson? He's fast and flashy and has some power. Questionable chin and no reach advantage. Hmm. Sounds an awful lot like Taylor.
Nope, I'm not convinced. Dawson falls just like Taylor.

Definitely agree there. Chad has great footwork, very good hand speed, & deceptive power. He's also a tall south paw. He would box circles & possibly stop Pavlik if they ever fought.
Glad to see people are coming to their senses.
Must agree. Dawson would smoke Pavlik.

Pavlik is getting hyped for a lucky ko...In a rematch taylor would take him in my opinion.....sounds like all you guys are just setting pavlik up for a major dissapointment...
Hopkins is 40 years old and not near as quik as he needs to be. If Taylor had moments against bernard so would Kelly and we all know how many Moments Kelly needs to turn the lights out dont we!
Pavlick tko7!
Exactly, Bernard tried a counter punching fight against Taylor, and look how that turned out, Pavlik doesn't get tired and he doesn't slow down. In fact, after the knockdown in round 2 his punch output went up.
He's actually like 42 now isn't he?
