Ofcourse Im not talking about head to head but people sweat Cotto for the same exact things that Pavlik is doing now except that he's doing it on a much higher level then Cotto. Cotto has beaten some good guys but he hasnt quickly stopped 2 guys like Taylor & Miranda. Also, Pavlik is a big MW but he isnt that much bigger then Taylor & Miranda who are also strong guys and he still ran through them while alot of Cotto's oppents have clearly been at a size disadvantage.
To me, I think Pavlik deserves to be ranked higher and deserves to get more respect then Cotto from a hype standpoint. People go crazy on this board about Cotto and I think Pavlik's last 2 performances have been better then Cotto's high stuff. Everyone calls Cotto the most exciting guy in the sport and all this but they dont say those same things about Pavlik. Dont get me wrong, people hype him on here but its nothing like Cotto and I think this puts him on a definatly higher level then Cotto. He is even more of a pressure fighter then Cotto is and punches harder
I say Pavlik because he is running through everyone with that hammer in his right glove. Cotto is one hell of a talent though, it all depends on the outcome of the Mosley fight I would say.
to me there both good and fight nice. but palvik had so many chance in that fight to put him away. but i still say cotto all the way he is more impressive than anything no matter who he fought it juss how he wins all body shots.
What do you mean he hasnt beat guys like Taylor AND Miranda. He hasnt beat a guy like Taylor. If he beats Mosley, than he surely has.
But Edison Miranda is not that good. Why do people talk about him like he was some undefeated/undisputed champion god or something when he was none of those. He was just a prospect like Pavlik when they fought, not on such a high level like people are acting.
In my opinion, Cotto's wins over guys like Malignaggi (was undefeated, became world champ), Torres (was undefeated, became world champ), Quintana (undefeated, just beat Julio who was to prospect in boxing, and Abdullaev even (should have been undefeated, lost by controversial KO early in his career in a fight he was easily winning, he was pretty much an undefeated olympic gold medalist when Cotto fought him) and Zab Judah (former undisputed welterweight champion of the world and a proven top fighter)
Your trying to say that a win over Edison Miranda is better than all that? Every one of those wins except maybe Abdullaev is better than a win over Miranda at this point.
I agree he hasnt beat someone on Taylors level, he will f he beats Mosley, but to put Mirandas name on there is ridiculous.
Yeah McCrary almost knocked out Green, and he's on the Contender.
I can play this game too.
Yeah, I can play it too but the difference is that I play it with Cotto's actual opponents
yeah, he almost knocked out Cotto too and that was on short notice.

Did I miss something here? Last time I checked Allan Green beat 20 guys ESPN found on the street. You talk about over hyping guys and you are doing the same thing to try and prove a point.
Maussa was a journeyman who stepped up and knocked out a legit title holder. Torres knocked out a good fighter in Kendall Holt. These are facts...

Come on now, Green had proved alot more then N'Dou. N'Dou hasnt done anything except given a couple of guys problems. He has no big wins. Green was more then a undefeated prospect. Those 3 guys you compared him to are a joke. No one even knew who Torres was when he fought Cotto, Maussa was basically a journeyman, and this whole board called Paulie a big mouth who was a club fighter that fought tomato cans. Cotto fought Paulie & Torres in there 1st big fights when he was already established. Pinto? Please. Also, in pretty much all of those fights you could come away thinking that Cotto only won becaue he was just flat out too big. It was a mismatch while the Mirand-Green fight was even size and the Green-Pavlik fight was even size.
Cotto has fought alot of guys where he was just flat out bigger. Guys who gave him problems but just couldnt matchup with his size. Even at 147 you could argue that he hasnt fought a real WW yet. I want to see him in with someone his own size. Thats why I wanted to see the Margarito fight. I want to see him with Margarito, Cintron, Clottey, Williams or someone like that. Even Collazo. Shane will be a good test but even he is on the smaller side but could move up because of his crazy talent. I will give him credit for that win though.

What impressive wins? Howard Eastman and Allen Green? What separates Miranda from N'dou? Tell me please.
Eastman is a tough journeyman fighter with a good punch. Cotto faced that early on in Randall Bailey. Green was a tough undefeated prospect. Pinto, Maussa, Malignaggi, and Torres fit that mold. And the last three went on to win title straps. Its really not even close.

I'd give Cotto the nod since Oscar was 34, and Hatton is smaller. Cotto won't beat Mosley though IMO. If that stands then either Floyd or Pavlik should win Fighter of the Year.
I'm also waiting for the Mosley fight. With only that win against Urkal to add to the victory over Judah, one does not have much to argue in favor of Cotto at this point, given that Pavlik has just dethroned an undisputed, undefeated champion, on top of having devastated Miranda. A convincing win over the HOF-type Mosley should give Cotto's claim to FOY some good boost.
Cotto won over Urkal in what is officially listed as a TKO victory, but it happened when the latter's trainer threw in the towel in protest over the referees having deducted another point against his ward (Urkal was also deducted a point in an earlier round) for flagrant fouls. Cotto was leading by a mile on the cards nonetheless.
On the other hand, Pavlik just plowed past the power of Miranda to stop the latter in the 7th.
three controversial decisions and two lack luster wins against natural 154 pounders...yeah right.
3 controversies but I think thats ok against the 2 HOF's. I personally agreed with every decision. Im not saying Taylor is great at all. He gets by with his combination of speed & power that is probally 2nd to none in the sport but other then that he doesnt know how to fight at all. His IQ, coordination, and overall boxing know how is at the bottom of all the top guys but he still is tough to beat because of his combination of size, speed, and power.
You cant rip him for his wins over the 154 pounders when they both are good guys and Taylor is not as big as everyone makes him out to be. He usually only comes in at like 166. To me thats nothing compared to Cotto at 140 coming in at 155
I disagree and this is coming from a guy who has called Miranda a "black Mayorga". Still, Miranda has some very impressive wins. Cotto's guys dont have any real good wins except for Zab beating Spinks

Make no mistake though, unless Mosley looks completly old over night I will give Cotto a ton of credit for that win. I think thats going to be a crazy fight that has throwback written all over it. Thats going to be a war
Well, Mosley beat Oscar twice and Vargas twice...Let's talk about this after November 10th.
Yeah but we all know thats nothing like beating Hopkins twice, drwawing with Winky, and then beating Spinks & Ouma. Thats still pretty solid. Lets not forget that Pavlik Knocked him out in 7 rounds. Its not like he beat Taylor in a decision. This was also a statement fight for Taylor that you know he was up for. I cant imagine Cotto topping that against Mosley, even if he wins
Judah is a better win than Miranda, and if Cotto beats Mosley he should be a candidate for fighter of the year.
Always taking shots at Cotto DLT...:nonono:
I knew you would say that but thats not true. I actually really like both Cotto & Pavlik. As for your other comments, Im a big Zab fan and I do think Miranda is just a black Mayorga but I think the Miranda win is better. He was undefeated, the favorite in the fight, most thought he really beat Abraham and he KO Green. Zab on the other hand was the clear underdog, handnt won in 2 years before the Cotto fight and was basically coming off a year long suspension
