At the time of the stop, Taylor was far ahead on all three official cards by scores of 58-55, 59-54, 58-55
DiBella and Manny knew that all Taylor had to do was go the distance because the judges were paid off. Just like his other close fights.
But Taylor didn't stick to the jab and Manny's gameplan and was dragged into a dog fight and you all know what happened.
Taylor reminds me a bit of Zab Judah because he has so much potential if he just stays focused in the fight. Taylor also was taking Pavlik lightly calling him a "normal" fighter. Similar to what Judah said about Cotto being "robotic" and one dimensional.
Me and Lederman had the same score from what I remember. Pavlik was winning for sure though. Jermain should have taken a knee but I think he was out cold. Pavlik was hitting gloves and then Jermain dropped his hand slightly and Pavlik landed that uppercut.
If you scored the fight like that, you were clearly missing how Pavlik was dominating Taylor with his Jab.
towards the middle taylor starting doubling up his jab and landing. the punch stats on the jab were about even too
I'd have to watch four, five, and six again but I recall Jermain fighting in spurs more for at least one of those rounds and not winning it, he really blew his load in round two and paid for it by only having enough energy to fight except in spurts...
Personally, I had it:
1: Pavlik
2. JT 10 - 8
3. Pavlik
4. JT
5. JT
6. JT
58-55... But you could give Round 1 to Taylor and that would make it 59-54... Now I am a Kelly fan (look at my avatar), but a smart judge wouldn't be influenced by the crown and he only CLEARLY won round 3 and obviously 7... Congrats to the Ghost

Thing is, Kelly isn't far from one-dimensional. He's just great at that one dimension.
i thoght pavlik won every round except the second.
when larry merchant told taylor that he was up in the score cards taylor told larry that he thought he was losing the fight
The problem with Pavlik is that his shots don't look as spectacular as Jermain's. That's prolly why the judges scored it that way. Check my thread on powerful but-not-so-powerful-looking punches like those thrown by Pavlik in this fight and Pac in the first Morales fight. Guys like Pac and Pav have to knock down their opponents before they get recognized by the judges.
Thats true and none of us were at the fight. I think this could be one of those fights where the people at ringside scored it differently then the people at home, kind of like Mosley-Oscar 2. I think Taylor's stuff probally looks more flashy and exciting, espically when your at ring side
Whoa. I believe Larry Merchant had it scored even after 6. Ol' what's his name (drew a blank) at ringside had Pavlik up by a point, if I recall correctly.
Taylor did real good, but I didn't have him ahead after 6.
I stated in another thread that you could have had it a point up for pavlik as well. But a lot of those rounds were close. And from what I've seen from other people on boxingscene that actually scored the fight as it was happening my score was spot on. Some of the rounds were just too close to say, "Pavlik was dominating Taylor! theres no way Taylor was ahead!" Like some people are saying.
It already starts. Give Taylor credit. I bet half of you fuckers saying he was clearly loosing the fight werent even watching. If you were watching you wouldnt be saying that. Taylor looked good, if you say anything else your an idiot.
Pavlik just has too much power.

Pavlik was winning the fight even with the knockdown. Taylor got bullshit judging for about six fights in a row. Fuck I couldn't believe it when they announced those scores
ESPN.com had it a shut out for Taylor which is seriously fucked up. Look for yourself. http://sports.espn.go.com/sports/boxing/news/story?id=3041197
I hope Dan Rafael wasn't doing the round by round because I would lose all respect for him.
i had 57-56 pavlik, i agreed with larry that pavlik was knocking down a lot of the nice looking shots taylor was throwing..... taylor countered impressively in the 4th it almost looked like he was going to take total control just pestering pavlik with his left but then the fifth pavlik just got on top of him and stayed there.
Yeah, I know there were a couple rounds in there that could go either way. Taylor landed some of the better shots but Pavlik let his hands go more. Taylor got hit with some shots that looked like they were landing clean but he was taking a lot off of them with his head movement.
First round was definately Pavlik. Second was a 10/8 round for Taylor no other way to score it. 3rd round pavlik came back pretty good I thought and I gave him the round. 4th if I remember correctly was my hardest to score, I just felt Taylor landed the cleaner punches, but I wouldnt be mad if someone scored it for Pavlik. In the 5th I thought Taylor again landed the better shots, fighting off the ropes a few times and making pavlik miss most of his punches while he had taylor on the ropes. And 6th I gave to Taylor because I felt like again he landed some of the better shots and Pavlik almost looked a little gassed breathing through his mouth. Scoring on points the fight could be called a draw until the 7th. I just dont see how people are saying the judges are were paid off by taylor. This was a close fight, makes me wonder if people were watching the same thing I was.
I would say anything above 57-56 for taylor is clear bribery. However, it could also be that the judges were so sure that taylor would win, or have such a fetish for fighters like him, that they were subconciously biased. Saw that happen in the pbf/dlh fight.
I agree. I was rooting for Taylor but had Pavlik winning 57-56. I scored it the exact same as Merchant and trust me when I say that I dont go by what those guys say. I could accept a draw or even 57-56 Taylor but anything more then that for Taylor was dead wrong. Pavlik pressed the action all night and was easily landing
I disagree, Jermain usually did a little bit more to win the close rounds imo. I didnt oficially score the fight, but I had Jermain ahead for sure. ESPN had it a complete shut out for Taylor before the stoppage.
I think so as well I had the fight 4 to 2 for Pavlik before the stoppage. I could see Taylor winning by a small margin, but not the margins the judges had it. I agree if Pavlik didn't stop Taylor he would have lost.
59-54 was bad judging, but 58-55 is good. Could have been 57-56 if you gave Pavlik round 4 which was pretty close. I actually scored the fight. If you dont score a fight dont say its bad scoring. And even though I was going for Taylor I score rounds fairly.
I had it 58-55 Taylor because I thought he did a tad bit more in the 4th round.

Pavlik would have been robbed if he didn't KO Taylor. | BoxingScene Community
