If the best of both guys turn up then we're in for a great fight. If either guy is lacking in their game you have your loser. Floyd is better than Hatton, but even the best against the best could be a pick'em bout, because Floyd usually has to adjust to his opponents, but against a guy like Hatton the four rounds or so it takes him to do so could be too late. Once Floyd figures him out then he'll outpoint Ricky all night which is why I think Hatton would lose a rematch but has a great chance on Dec 8th.
Plus I have the feeling that Floyd is expecting an easy fight and believing his own hype. He isn't as focussed as usual so he's giving away his greatest advantage, his preparedness.
We'll see. But regardless of the outcome, Hatton won't retire undefeated. I think he beats Floyd and then loses an immediate (and lucrative) rematch. And that pair of fights will be what gives Floyd the legendary status he desperately craves.
Most people said "What happens if". Oscar's left hook is wicked, but it's a one shot deal. Hatton's left hook to the body isn't a one shot deal.
Floyd isn't impervious. He is definitely favourite to beat Hatton and even if Hatton wins I would still say that Floyd is the better fighter and would win a rematch, but he's not invincible.
Prior to May 5th, all of the Mayweather haters were saying "wait til Oscar lands a left hook"...
Haha that's right, there was a topic in here about how many Oscar left hooks it would take to put Floyd down, the vast majority of people said one, and I don't think many said more than two.
He couldnt land it on 99% of his opponets so far and Floyd is the hardest fighter in the game to land clean on
Hatton has had 43 professional fights. If you assume that the shot on Castillo is the only one he landed like that (it isn't but I'm humouring you) then he landed it on 2.33% of his opponents. So therefore if hypothetically he didn't land it on anyone else (again I'm humouring you, Hatton has finished numerous fights with a body shot) then that would meen he couldn't land it on approximately 97.67% of his opponents.
Stay in school kids.
you guys say its impossible for hatton to win but what happens if hatton lands a bodyshot like he did against castillo?
Then floyd will be in trouble, simple as that.
Now, what happens if hatton cant land a hard bodyshot on floyd?
you guys say its impossible for hatton to win but what happens if hatton lands a bodyshot like he did against castillo?
I don't see Hatton landing that type of shot against Mayweather, but you never know in Boxing. However, Mayweather is an exceptional defensive fighter, therefore, shots like the one Hatton landed on Castillo won't be easy to find against Mayweather. I give Hatton immense credit for taking the fight with Mayweather, but it was a logical step. Many on this site claimed that Hatton was ducking Mayweather, but i never thought that was the case. However, Hatton realises that Mayweather will most definitely be the biggest test he will have in his career, and although i think Hatton can win the fight, in the back of my mind i can see Mayweather making him look bad, and picking his shots... I hope not.
Well, Floyd isn't exactly a shot-to-a-zillion-pieces fighter like Castillo.
So I imagine that Floyd would have the same reaction as Collazo and Urango had when ricky landed those body shots.
If Hatton had landed that shot on Collazo ot Urango they would both have crumbled as well.

Agreed. Please keep in mind that Castillo's money punch was the left hook to the body, which he landed numerous times on Floyd in their first fight. Not much effect.
However, if the perfect body shot gets through, it could be ballgame for anyone.
from what ive seen, Floyd can weather body punches fairly well. he gets caught sometimes, but never really seems to even care too much.
Im sure if Hatton digs shots to the body it will take its toll on Floyd in the fight and wear him down. so maybe thats your answer.

This is a desparate thread.
Sure it might happen. Hatton has a puncher's chance, just like every other puncher.
Regarding a good, clean, levered body shot. It ain't gonna happen. And, every time he goes looking for Floyd's body, he's very likely gonna get tagged cleanly. Ricky won't be so wiloling to keep his hands swinging low and wide, when he's got Floyd's hands ripping flesh off his bony face, really.
I like Ricky's work ethic, but not much else. He's facing a guy who's fast in bunches and has proven lately not to have the light hands that people talk about. Think about that for sec. A guy with decent power landing in combos on Hatton, from every angle, for twelve rounds.
I reckon Hatton meets a decent combo for every hug he gives PBF, then gets frustrated and starts throwing intentional low shots to gain any possible edge, but only finds that inspires PBF to really open up on him and that'll be the end of the show. Book it.
Hatton is one of the top body punchers in the sport, no doubt...but jeez, lately his body punching has been reaching mythical proportions based on one good shot he took Jose Luis out with with.
If this was the case then a guy like, say, Roy Jones Jr. should have been destroying guys left and right to the body with KO's based on the hellish shot he landed on Virgil Hill. Guys are giving too much credence to that JLC shot and I just don't think it will be a factor versus Floyd cause Floyd covers up like the best of them.
mayweather will take it and keep moving
Oh yeah I forgot about floyds adamantium skeleton, hes going down simple as, but the hard part is actually hitting him.
Hey fellas and ladies. I'm new in here. I'm in the minority here, but I do feel that RICKY has the style to halt PBF's speed. I think if HATTON wins by KO, it will be him pummeling FLOYD on the ropes.
my questions to you is, how da hell this was your first post and you got 11K already, forget about hatton....
Ali invited Foreman to hit him to the body and just absorbed them like it was nothing. Not saying Mayweather is Ali but some people can take that stuff.
PBF will try and duke it out with hatton and not dance but when he gets hit he will revert back to what he knows. He will defend himself the only way he knows how to.
And if Hatton can land enough of those body shots, PBF will have his first loss. It is a case of will Hatton be able to execute his gameplan.
ok...
not arguably, mayweather is the most elite fighter hatton has ever seen...
and not arguably, people talk about the castillo body shot like it was the greatest thing since sliced bread. he hit an old beat up washed up castillo on the button and castillo went down, and didnt get back up cuz he didnt want to fight anymore, he could of got up by the ten count, but then he woulda been KOd probly. hatton isnt a monster puncher, he is a volume puncher with bad defense, which floyd will capitalize on. will hatton land clean punches on floyd? ABSOLUTELY! will floyd land more cleaner and accurate punches on hatton while he is bullrushing floyd? U KNOW THIS!!!!
Hatton's bod punching has been noticeably successful in more than just one fight.
