Holt was indicating the wrong way. He was slumping badly..
It's all about body language in Boxing.
He also may have upset the fans with that loligagging.
It was a strange situation. The stoppage was hasty..
But Holt hurt his case IMO. Acting like you're the better man is thin.
Torres was coming forward forward.
Still, the stoppage was a rush job. That cannot be denied.
I saw Holt take 9 unanswered punches until the ref stop the fight then he jabbed....robbed my a$$. I have seen worse stoppages in my day and this was far from a bad stop!
terrible stoppage......................................there is no argument that can say that it wasn't. holt wasn't hurt to the point to where he wasn't able to defend or fight back, holt was throwing a punch when the ref stopped and he wasn't even out on his feet.
terrible hometown favoring from the ref..............
plus the crowd throwing shit into the ring, that aint good for any fighter.
this sums it up. Horrible although not as bad as say Calzaghe's BS stoppage over Manfredo
Wow, I thought Holt was actually in the fight. Not in this round he wasn't. This round completely made the case that he was hurt, on his bike, and definitely hurt after the knockdown. He just didn't fight back. Sure he waits until he doesn't answer many shots before throwing 1 shot when the ref decides to break and stop the fight. Holt made me feel for him in that video interview. I'm not so sure I do now.
Watching only this round, yes the ref could have let it go on. But when seeing the fight in its entirety it was a fair stoppage, you got to remember Torres already had knocked down Holt and had him on his bicycle, so helpless as Holt was the ref was thinking if Torres the "puncher" hits Holt clean, Holt may be ko'd and sent to the hospital. Torres was a puncher, and that had to impact the decision to stop the fight as Holt did look defenceless for a few seconds.
Holt did his best impression of Floyd Mayweather, just traded one to many times and got caught.

If anyone is at fault its Kendall Holt, he made it look like he was out, on the ropes getting hit, and not answering anything kept backing up, he looked gassed to me. I don't think the ref has a choice when your taking flush shots and bend over at a 45 degree angle looking like your about to fall forward.
I don't know how bad the beer and water was in the ring it didn't look as bad as described by the press, the press made it seem like he was falling all over the place, Torres was also in the ring with the same conditions so I don't see that as an excuse.
In my opinion you can't blame the ref here.
Woah, what the heck that stoppage was pretty early. I mean this is not Mayorga laying on the ropes getting smashed by DLH, he was still moving, that was an odd stoppage, I guess you could make the case he would have been stopped anyway but he was fully coherent.
geezus - that was FAR from a horrible stop, i've seen much worse and i feel that holts propensity to closet up after a rough patch would have lost him the fight anyway.
I agree. FAR from being an early or bad stoppage. Also, I had Holt ahead by one point after 10 and, had this round finished, he'd be behind by one going into the last round. As much as he was running, he would've lost the last round, too.
Horrible Stop....
Horrible implies that Holt was throwing back and had the fight going even or so, and was in no trouble at all. That.. is far from the case.
