IMO. thoughts? Mosley-Cotto is still gonna be outstanding, but the action wont be NON-STOP like it would have been with Margarito.
Everybody Cotto faces in big fights is a clincher. its definetly a coincidence but still, its annoying. Malignaggi clinchced a ton, judah clinch a ton, mosley will undoubtedly clinch as well. Cotto-Hatton was in discussion... Margarito wouldnt clinch, which is another reason
Mosley's boxing skills are a myth. I always disagree when people say that. Its like people assume that he's a great boxer just because he's fast. He never boxes. He just throws flurries. He comes forward all the time and throws nearly all power punches. He dont have any real boxing skill like Floyd, Spinks, Paulie, or any other boxer. He's not a boxer at all but people always say he can box. He has never had any kind of D like boxers have and he never uses a jab or goes side to side. He's a straight up fighter with mad speed & power who fights with flurries. He's like Meldrick Taylor in that sense but Taylor was also a great boxer who moved well and could dance if he wanted to. Shane cant do that. If he ever tried to box then he would get killed.
Also, think about his rematch losses to Forrest & Winky. 1st lets think about his 1st losses to them. After he started losing then the commentators would say that they were surprised that Mosley was fighting with them and not switching to boxing them. The reason why he didnt do that is because he cant and never has. Then in the rematches he told everyone that he would box them and he didnt. The commentators would again say that Mosley is not doing what he said he would do but again, he cant. Thats why I said he wouldnt beat Floyd because he is too one demensional in that sense. He cant adjust during a fight. When he's losing he still does the same thing the whole fight even though its clearly not working. People assume that he has this great boxing skill to fall back on but he doesnt at all
Mosley can box IMO. Hes not a master boxer like the guys mentioned, but he's got skills.
he's quick on his feet, and can move in and out if he wants. And Cotto would be the easiest guy for him to box against cause Cotto's always goin for that body. A jab is a key weapon against Cotto.
Cotto also has a great jab, but he needs to coming forward to use it, which is why i think Margarito could actually beat him and would make a much better fight with him. His pressure actually nullifys Cottos jab cause Cotto has to step into his
Mosley is definetly a clincher. But it doesnt both me as much as say a Ruiz clinch because more times then not mosley fights his way out of his clinch.
But he clinched against collazo a bunch, did it against DLH in both fights a bunch, and he clinches so-so in many more of his fights. But, all his fights are entertaining so it doesnt matter
Mosley-Cotto is still gonna be an awsome fight, im not saying that, but Cotto and Margarito never clinch, the action would be NON STOP for 12 rounds.
Mosley can brawl, but what if he struggles? he can box and slow the pace as he please early in the fight, until cottos body shots start to take effect.
Margarito would be coming forward and brawling all night long.

Cotto vs Margarito would have been a fight of the year candidate in my eyes, i said that after the williams fight, margarito has a better defence then i gave him credit for and is most definately capable of hurting cotto, neither guy is great on the back foot and would have to come forward to impose thier will. It would just be a great brawl.
I disagree and I cant believe that no one else is. You could argue that Margaito-Cotto would be a better fight for whatever reason. I think thats 50/50. However, I cant believe that all of you think Mosley will clinch?
What evidence have you guys seen of this? Mosley isnt a clincher. He never clinches that I can remember. The only 3 times he probally has clinched was against Collazo and Winky because there lefty's and thats what happeneds. Then against Forrest because he's known to have fights like that. Other then that Shane doesnt like to hold people. He's just like Cotto in that he wants to fight non stop.
This fight will be toe to toe and I think its a better fight then Margarito for the simple fact that its higher skill with more speed, with 2 guys near the same size, and both fight ferocis. Margarito is all action but he's also just big and kind of sloppy. He throws non stop punches but there wild and uncoordinated. Both Mosley & Cotto are offensive fighters who throw precise punches, have good technique, and dont know how to go backwards

this will be a better fight because they are different fighters. Margarito and Cotto are very similar except that Cotto is better in most facets 9probably not chin though) so I think Cotto would bang out a win with relative ease as opposed to the toss up Molsey fight
If Cotto beats Mosley in an impressive manner, then we can see some bigger fights... Im pretty sure De La Hoya would want to fight him and probaly Mayweather.
Cotto will have to move up though to fight De La Hoya. Mayorga? I overheard his ass wanting to fight Cotto?! Why? It would be an entertaining fight, but damn! This man hasn't won a fight in sometime. I hope it doesn't happen, for that just fight Margarito.
How the hell can some of you say that Margarito got owned and embarased by Williams??? you guys must of not seen the fight because it was Williams the one that got more of a beating then Margarito, Yes Williams outpoined him but by no means did margarito get owned or Embarased.
probably that would be cotto's next fight after mosley if he loses,
cotto vs margarito, if he wins we prob. gonna see either cotto vs de la hoya
or cotto vs mayweather if mayweather wins
i think the dude meant like if margarito had beaten williams
and idk how margarito got embarrassed but w/e
yea this is obviously what i meant.
I by no means think Cotto should now take the fight, but had Margarito beaten Williams i think we'd be watching a more exciting fight in november.
Mosley-Cotto is undoubtedly a much bigger fight though
I understand it would be a better fight... but why does Margarito deserve a shot at Cotto??? Didn't he just get OWNED by P. Will? The fight I watched he did, I couldn't believe Marg thought it was close... The "SuperFight" was the much better choice for the casual boxing fan, Mosley is a name that can still be recognized.
It would be a higher action fight, for sure, but I don't know if it'll be better. Cotto needs to take forward steps to silence the haters, and fighting Margarito after he got embarassed by Williams would do nothing for his "legacy".

If you want to watch an all-offense, limited skill fight then it would be. Cotto is a decent boxer to go along with his power, same with Mosley except he's a good boxer. I'd rather watch a boxing match that takes skill and intelligence instead of boxers seeing who can take more punches than the other. Margarito is entertaining, but he'll never be more than a good slugger. I'll take the boxing match over the brawl. Just my preference.

cotto - margarito would be better to watch but im interested to see how cotto handles a better boxer than him ... same with the judah fight but cotto just proved he wasn't that good a boxer after all
and im out, sinabizzle
Hmmmm, interesting statement. None the less the fight will be action packed. Everyone clinches though, you nee to take breathers every now and than don't we?

COTTO-MARGARITO would have been a better fight then COTTO-MOSLEY | BoxingScene Community
