If PR were a state it would be #1 as far as producting great boxers and champions. But the official states..Massachuesett had Hagler, NY had Tyson, Kevin Kelley and some others I would say the northeast like Philly, NY and Mass..produced the greatest fighters.
Pennsylvania
Joe Frazier
Larry Holmes
Sonny Liston
Jimmy Young
Bernard Hopkins
Tyrell Biggs
Tex Cobb (I know, I know  )
David Reid
Meldrick Taylor
... many others ...
california doesnt have TOO much to be proud of...
a handful of greats but thats about it...
ie. corrales margarito, de la hoya, etc.
i never really look at california as a breeding ground for boxers too much.
its more that boxers come from Mexico and stuff to live in Cali eventually.
I consider Puerto Rico an unofficial state, so Ill definately put them up there too.
Michigan certainly has some huge names that come from it. Which is strange in my mind...it has such a low population.

Don't forget "Left Hook" Lacy.
Michigan has James Toney, Floyd Mayweather Jr., and Sugar Ray Robinson under their belt... I think they are the winner.
Don't forget Thomas Hearns.
