and i dont mean admirers, like pbf, but fans like the 10,000 who went to see hatton in the US?
which american fighter would take the most fans to europe with them to a big title fight?
even though i was a baby at the time, ive seen all tysons early fights against mostly average opposition and i agree he was a force of nature, a great fighter even though he emerged in a weak era. barrin him, what standout fighters were around in the mid/late 80s, barrin holy still at cruiser? none. what truly great fighters did he beat? l im not sayin he wasnt great, he may well have beaten better fighters than he had the opportunity to fight. what im sayin is he'll never have the love, support and respect of fighters like evander, hatton, even bruno, who were truly decent, humble people. bein a possible hall of famer doesnt necessarily equate to havin loyal fans whod stick by you through thick and thin. no one thinks of tyson and thinks 'what a lovely lad, i hope he doesnt get hurt tonight'
man YNWA, that is an outstanding post! you do make alot of good points. IMHO, Quick Tillis was the first to take Tyson passed the 3rd round, and go the distance. Michael Spinks was "Undefeated", IBF Champ. Mitch Greene, Tyrell Briggs, Tim Whitherspoon...you can't say they weren't top contenders. I do agree with you that Evander Holyfield has kept the cleaner reputation of the two, and will definately be inducted into the IBHOF. Should Holyfield capture the Heavy Weight crown, again, the would be a feat that would be extremely hard to duplicate...."5 time HW Champ"!
De La Hoya... Vargas has a decent following. Even Hopkins has a consistant 10,000 fans that show up to his fights. Paul Malignaggi's is growing.. Juan Diaz' too.
listen youngin...Mike Tyson was the youngest ever to win the Heavy Weight Crown, the only "undefeated" AND "Undisputed" Heavy weight Champion in the History of boxing. For the madness surrounding Iron Mike outside of his boxing career...All that will be irrelavent when he is inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame.
It's a shame that Mike Tyson self destructed. And bro, If you didn't watch Tyson fight in the late 1980's, you just became a boxing fan two days ago. Show some class and debate without sounding like street punk. I'm sure you have a better vocabulary than that. And just for the record, Your boy Hoyfield head-butted Tyson. Ain't right to bite. But Your boy asked for it. Watch the Fight in it's entirety. Leave the bias behind and see for yourself.

means fuck all. more people around the world would recognize saddam hussein than kofi annan
tyson is famous because hes a violent bullyin cunt, if he was mr nice guy and a total stranger to controversey hed be 10 times more succesful and probably 10 times less famous. what fans holyfield has love him for bein a noble legend and humble sportsman and they want to see him win and not get hurt. they care about him. tysons fans are just followers of a freakshow, an entertaining freakshow admittedly but theres a lot less of an emotional attachment there

If you show a picture of Holyfield (just the face).....90% won't know who he is.
90% know who Mike Tyson is.
Tyson is more "World" reknown than Hoyfield.

all these 'firms' from no mark towns make me laugh. fans from shitty little cities think theyre proving somethin by causin trouble at football. football violence is the most childish, pathetic thing imaginable. usually caused by backward spastics with england tatoos
my dad and uncles used to travel europe followin liverpool in the 70s and 80s and some of the shit they saw was unbelievable. my uncle saw two liverpool fans stab an italian bizzie and saw a security guard at a shop liverpool fans were ransackin nearly get beaten to death. all the aggro between italian and english fans now can be traced to the wars between liverpool and roma fans and of course all the deaths at heysel. thankfully all that shits over now. after hillsbrough and heysel pool fans realise its a game and not worth dyin over. now all these fans from shitholes like stoke and cardiff think theyre hard cos theyre the only ones still stupid enough to want to fight at a game of football
Tyson is more popular than De La Hoya and Hatton in the US and internationally.
I dont know who all these De La Hoya fans are, probably illegal mexican immigrants.
well xcaret is one De La Hoya fan. 1....
He gave me bad K on this post.
if always is never.
liverpool fans used to fuckin have europe quakin in their fuckin boots. then we got banned cos of heysel and thankfully it all calmed down. the loonies arent allowed out the counrtry no more when the footies on
no, were used to have the most violent but its isnt really about as much as it used to be in the 70s. countrys like itay are the worst for voilenct and russia are quite bad too
Did I say most violent? No. I said most obnoxious.
Since you bring up violence though obnoxious English fans probably would probably be more so if they wern't getting their asses kicked on a regular basis for a sustained number of years.
