De La Hoya is a legend..he's bigger, stronger, smarter, and has more hand speed then Hatton if he fought Hatton they fight wouldnt go 6 rounds, and mayweather beat him (I HAD IT A DRAW)..Baldomir has a granite chin comes into the fight as almost a super middleweight Mayweather beat him easily, Judah has the fastest hands and feet in boxing and a devastating punch Mayweather beat him.
So my question is what does Hatton bring too the table that these guys dont? i actually think hatton had a better chance at beating mayweather a couple of years before mayweather filled out.
Well Hatton had just won a belt, why didnt he want to unify with Baldomir if Baldomir was so bad? I see it as he pretty much got ran out of the division. Im not saying it wasnt a smart move, but people are acting like Baldomir was a nobody, but if thats true why didnt Ricky push for that fight and become the lineal welterweight champ.
I'm pretty sure Hatton would have had a mandatory against Urkal first.

As I recall it Hatton's team were pushing for that fight after Gatti got beat (they really wanted Hatton vs Gatti) but Mayweather beat them to it.
Hatton's footwork isn't a weakness. Judah is faster with better footwork but Hatton is fast and has good footwork. Baldomir has the best chin in boxing pound for pound. But Hatton also has an incredible chin.
De La Hoya can block straight right hands, as can Hatton. Hatton gets hit too much but it doesn't slow him down, he's only really vulnerable to southpaw right hooks. Straight rights don't seem to affect him too much. Plus he took a number of well placed straight rights from Kostya Tszyu who has the hardest straight right anywhere near the 10st division. I'm sure he'll be fine.
And all three have been in with a better fighter than Hatton because they have all been in with Mayweather. But just because Mayweather is better doesn't mean that Hatton won't win.
I've never heard that one before.

To Be fair though the other guys strengths are Hatton weakenesses.
De La Hoya can block a straight right hand,
Baldomir has a better chin.
Judah is faster and has better footwork

I've never heard that one before.
If the Ref is fare doesn't let Hatton turn the fight into Hugafest 2007, it will be an easy fight for Floyd.
:boxing: Then the ref also should trip mayweather up and stopped him from running, Result=Mayweather would be smashed to bits....:boxing:
The mismatch will look worse than Baldomir. The chasm between these two fighters is vast.
If Hatton was a bigger man than he is, I would agree with you. The main problem for Ricky is that he is coming into this with a certainty of perception that he will be stronger and bigger than Floyd. He missed that opportunity with his cowardice. He should have taken the fight back when PBF had just moved up to 140. The Clan Hatton ran away from this fight for too long.
Ricky's first glimpse of his miscalculation will be at the presscons ("hmmm, this wanker isn't that small") . It will be validated at the weigh-in ("my gosh, he's well fit"), and it will he painfully hammered into his pink flesh in the first three rounds on December 8th.
Do you honestly think Hatton and his team aren't aware of what size Floyd Mayweather is?
Bingo. Like me, I think that most Hatton fans know that he is the underdog, but think that he can raise his game and get his tactics right to win the fight. We are being realistic with our expectations (that it will be very hard) and hopeful with our predictions (that Hatton can overcome the odds).
However, most Floyd fans think that it'll be an absolute walk in the park with untouchable Floyd never in a moments danger, such is the absolute gulf in ability and class between the two fighters. Floyd is not imperious and he is not impervious. Hatton will be a tough fight and if they are expecting anything less, their predictions and their expectations are woeful.
Excellent post. I agree completely with everything you have said here. The sad thing is that some Floyd fans have their craniums so far up his colon that they don't think Floyd is capable of losing rounds let alone fights. Some maniac came on here after the De La Hoya fight and left a long winded post explaining how Mayweather had won all 12 rounds of the fight. Not even Mayweather himself would be foolish or arrogant enough to come out with such nonsense.
Chavez is slower, less skilled and smaller than Hatton.
That being said Mayweather is still the favorite.
Nice one wmute.
I was trying to draw parrallels. I thought Chavez was the closest Floyd has had to Ricky Hatton. A come forward fighter who just battles. I'd like to say Corrales was it, but it's a different ball game. I reckon Corrales would've killed Hatton.
Im giving hatton the benefit of the doubt and giving him a chance to win this fight, as i have said before, his chances depend on mayweather not being at the top of his game, i think the Chavez comparison is a vaild one, weve all seen the clip on you tube, chavez took some absolute bombs and kept coming forward, mayweather kept slipping and hitting him with sickening uppercut counters.
I belive mayweather is better defenisvely now than he was at that time.
I think within 2 rounds we will know who will win the fight, if hatton can ruffle mayweather within 2 rounds, we will know its a fight, if hatton cant get inside within two rounds and is getting tagged coming in,
I think we can expect the same for the rest of the fight.
Anything can happen in boxing though, so it would be foolish to completely write hatton off.

I watched Mayweather - Jesus Chavez couple years ago, and Chavez was as close to Hatton as anyone Floyd faced; dude just kept coming forward, all Floyd did was punch him back and wear him down. That's what's gonna happen to Ricky.

Floyd will hit and run and Ricky will hit and hold. I dont give a shit who wins this fight because I dont like either fighter, but Floyd will probably win. I'll be to busy on the Cotto-Mosely fight.
I think Cotto - Mosley will be more intersting, but the world's media will be focused on Mayweather, because he's top draw. I see Floyd to do it on points.
Augustus?? You're kidding I hope. Hatton's much tougher than that clown.
This is not as hard as DLH, but harder than Baldomir. People talk about Hatton being made for Mayweather, which isn't exactly true. Baldomir was made for Mayweather.
Floyd has mentioned Augustus as being his toughest fight before.
Why are people acting like Baldomir was a nobody? Isnt he the reason Ricky went back down in weight, so he wouldnt have to face him?

Allow me to explain the topic to you, because what you think that you created a topic about...isnt what you actually did create a topic about.
You are asking what Hatton brings to the table that other fighters who Floyd beat couldnt. However, because you are a dick, you deliberately phrased a very inflammatory thread title of "Is Hatton the easiest fight Mayweather has had in years?".
Now, I'd hate to second guess, but I'd imagine that the reason for doing this, is to try and get some digs in about Hatton whilst trying to pretend that you're actually after a serious discussion.
Me, I'm not buying it, as such I will discuss with you on the subject of your thread title. The nature of that discussion being that you yourself know that Hatton isnt the easiest fight of the past few years, because you deliberately didnt mention Gatti...who is OBVIOUSLY (and who you obviously recognise as being) a MUCH better candidate for that title (hence you neglecting to mention him). As such, you're being a dick, futhrermore you KNOW that you're being a dick and I will, therefore, treat you like a dick.
this guy is right:D
It wont be an easy fight at all.
It won't be an easy fight for Floyd, but it will not be as difficult as DLH. Mayweather won't have to respect Hatton's power they way he did DLH's.
Good post and agreed. Hatton has some power, but not Oscar type power.
besides chavez, Castillio, Agustas, and De La Hoya. This should be one of his toughest fights. It wont be easy at all. Hatton is among the best pound for pound and will give Floyd all he can handle. im a big Floyd fan so of course im picking Floyd to win but not easily. i'll say Floyd by Majority or a split descision.

Hatton is one of the hardest fights for Mayweather out there.
He is a pressure fighter who throws a ton of punches, which is the nightmare of boxers.
He has fast hands and speed, which are the only thing that ever gave Floyd some puzzles (Judah, De La Hoya).
He is very well conditioned, in the past Floyd could often count on his opponents not keeping the pace in the championship rounds or even earlier.
I watched Mayweather - Jesus Chavez couple years ago, and Chavez was as close to Hatton as anyone Floyd faced; dude just kept coming forward, all Floyd did was punch him back and wear him down. That's what's gonna happen to Ricky.
