people always talk as if prime TYSON was superman or something...DAVID TUA is a similar styled fighter but more power, stronger, and a better chin...he didnt have the speed Tyson had but id favor prime tua over prime tyson anyday
Tua wouldve been in trouble early, even though he has one of the best chins in boxing!!!
But Tyson wouldve been in trouble for the whole fight because tua holds his power the whole fight!!! Tua has a better chin Tyson has better skills hard to say how this fight wouldve gone!!!
I will go with Tua because i like him more!!!
Now the old old past prime Holmes, Then WE must forget the other legend hes beaten, or at least son of a legend in Marvis Frazier, Tysons resume is really tough seing he fought almost every week in 87 and 88 , about 16 times a year vs no tomato can fighters from the street, only top guys that were not guys out the streets , no, they were top guys, not getting looked to get kod in 1 round, just top guys, just like that guy who lost but he was so great in 88 , he was labeled 'dinomite fist without any power' that tyson beat in 88
sounds like JCC.. fighting tomato cans every two weeks...
It would've been nice to have seen an in shape Larry Holmes, but we saw a fat Larry Holmes who trained for a few months just trying to make some money. I wold've loved to have seen prime holmes in there and holmes still would've gotten his ass whupped seriously. Sorry to change the discussion direction.
exactly.
saying overall tua is better than tyson (both in their primes) is comepltely wrong.
tyson was over hyped BUT he was still a great fighter (in his prime).
who do you think would get KOd if they fought
He lost to Chris Byrd because he was a defensive fighter. Tyson is the type of fighter that Tua would have done very well against.
Its depending on what Tyson. Prime Tyson had some of the best defense I've ever had. He hardly ever got hit hard cleanly.
The big deal is Larry was old and a shell of his former self that would have jabbed Tyson into submissin in his prime.......He was actually the first IMO to expose the fact that a good slick boxer with a decent chin and reflexes which Larry no longer had when he fought Tyson would be able to beat Tyson easily someday......Tyson was feared and intimidating but never really beat an elite HW IMO.
Who just two years later defeated well regarded heavy hitter Ray Mercer, went the distance with prime Holyfield in 92 and nearly upset McCall in 95 at the ripe old age of 45; absorbing some serious punishment in the process but never getting koed. Obviously, Holmes was coming off a two year lay off when he went up against Tyson but despite fighting on for many years later against the likes of the above mentioned tough opposition he never got knocked out again. Oh and he was still Larry Fucking Holmes, who lost some of the magic but stayed a tough fighter for years after the Tyson blow out. Holmes lone ko loss in such an absurd drawn out career certainly says more than Tua blasting already notorious canvas kissers like Moorer(talk about shells), Rahman and Oleg in The Greatest's shitacular post earlier in the thread. I would give Tyson's ko over the than uber durable Pinklon more weight in regards to knock out resumes than those three.
To tell the truth tyson really didn't fight anyone ELITE in his prime, the moment he did he got squashed by evander. That being said, in his prime he would squash tua, period.
Tyson vs elite guys like evander and lennox, he really gets bored so they put him to sleep, Tyson walks up to the ring , beats those guys up with his awesome power, and he beats those guys so easily that he forfeits the fights and lies down and takes a nap in the middle of the ring, pretending to have gotten kod. Tyson is awesome with power, hes like the weapon of mass destruction of boxing, George Bush is still looking for Tysons weapons of mass destruction, dont worry g. bush, tysons weapos of mass destruction exist
Yeah, what's the big deal about Larry Holmes only ko loss in his entire career? Not to mention he went on to fight elite guys years down the road and still never got blasted like that. :nonono:

Tua might very well have more natural upper body power from being well the naturally bigger man, but Tyson was a vastly superior puncher with both hands. Tyson was considerably faster, better conditioned, and even at his most robotic and lazy was a much more accomplished and disciplined fighter. Forget chins, Tyson was a tight bobbing defensive fighter that even long quick handed fighters had trouble finding while Tua could be pretty stationary and flat footed. There is more to boxing than this magical chin thing that I would like to see the exact science of measuring. Remember, Tyson has dropped people that haven't been koed before or sometimes even since. How does that wager into this equation? Bah to this half assed analysis.
Do you think prime mike tyson had the feet to be fleet footed.......:D

only michael spinks?
you've got to be kidding me..
what about trevor berbick?
what about frank bruno?
what about LARRY HOLMES?
what about Pinklon Thomas?
what about donovan ruddock??
they were tough opponents.

Wow, the amount of moronic things being said from both sides is more than annoying.
Tua was physically gifted, perhaps too much on surtain things. He had maybe 2 all time great feats, chin and power. Too bad for him boxing is boxing, and he lacked many other things. Tyson was a more complete fighter, and an all time great Heavyweight. In a fight, Tua may have stood a better chance against Tyson than the likes of Frazier, Marciano, Dempsey etc. But don't think Tua wouldn't get hurt by Ty, you need to watch all of his fights like me to get a clear picture of his ability to take a punch.
People need to get over Tyson's invincibilty, and Tua being immune to punches. They're human.
I'm not saying it was Tua's prime but him losing to chris byrd at that stage in his career? Mike tyson would tear him apart
Like he tore Quick Tillis apart?
