The Man!
He's really taking this fight dead seriously, which is a good sign for Taylor fans.
"Jermain Taylor (27-0-1)
For those who complained that the champ faced junior middleweights in his past two fights (Cory Spinks and Kassim Ouma), how do you like him now? He's facing the baddest middleweight he can lay his hands on, Kelly Pavlik, who has a major league chance to take the title. How seriously is Taylor taking the fight? He plans to go away to a real training camp for the first time, which means several weeks in virtual isolation in Pennsylvania's Pocono Mountains with trainer Emanuel Steward. And get this -- the fight will be on HBO, not on pay-per-view."

This is gonna be the best Middleweight fight of the 2000's. I can't wait.
I question your statement about taylor having a good chin. Hopkins had him reeling in both fights especially 1st fight and landed a very conservative number of punches on him. This is really his whiskas first big test, and he will get tested. Taylors best chance will be a lot of side to side movement and to get the jab workin early, otherwise he's gonna get forced into a pure brawl and or backed to the ropes and used as a punching bag.
yup i agree on both accounts. He cant let Pavlik get set, or else he's gonna get pounded.
And Pavlik isnt the most nimble target, a good jab could do damage.
And WRIGHT also hurt Taylor, as did Spinks. So maybe he doesnt really have that good a chin.
And Pavlik is certainly the hardest hitter he has ever faced, and Pavlik throws the most punches.
BUT, if Taylor jabs and moves, Pavlik will have trouble getting off a lot of punches for the first few rounds.
No matter what Taylor does, i think Pavlik is to big and strong to not drag Taylor into a brawl
Really? These are two big punchers in there. Both have good chins, but Pavlik will try to throw maybe 90 punches a round while Taylor will try to throw maybe 60 punches a round...
I think its 50-50 on whether we see a KD/KO or not

dont train too hard, jermain. remember, you're already expecting to lose.
what's taylor's plan? outbox pavlik? when was the last time taylor outboxed anybody?
I just think Steward will give Taylor the right gameplan against Pavlik. I think Taylor just really had trouble making weight. That's why he did nothing much against Spinks. I wouldn't be suprised if Pavlik won but I doubt we see any KD's or a knockout.

IMO, after maybe 3 or 4 rounds, i dont think Taylor is gonna have any options on how to fight Pavlik.
Pavliks pressure will get to him, the volume punching will get to him, the power will get to him.
He'll be forced to stand and trade against the ropes. The action will be so intense its gonna be insane.
Unlike a lot of Pavlik Opponents, Taylor CAN and LIKES to fight going backwards.
Pavlik will certainly be the agressor cause Taylor will let him.
And the first 4 rounds should be even with furious exchanges off the ropes and in the center of the ring, before someone gets an advantage and starts taking over the fight.
I personally think itll be Pavlik, and his pressure and volume punching will end up stopping Taylor in the late rounds
Just like he did to Ouma?
against Ouma it is well known Taylor was dumb as shit trying to get a Knockout and impress, but he got tired and hopefully learned a lesson that prick better get his shit together, i aready jump off the ban wagon, keep ur dam hand up late or 10-12 round tko... anyone who thinks this isn't going to be a great fight is crazy... it will be better than taylor-winky... taylor defensive short commings against any power punch is going to be exciting... there is no spinks in the building
I expect kball to be upset when Kelly loses. Taylors a smart boxer, he won't brawl with Pavlik he will out-box Pavlik. Whats Pavliks plan? The same plan he had for Miranda? Try to punch Miranda back? I don't that will work, this is the fight where I expect Taylor to look like a stronger version of Floyd Mayweathers and just pace himself and winning a decision. Steward is the smartest trainer in the business, he will show you why when Taylor wins.

Well if i can speculat here, i think u've only seen the Pavlik-Miranda fight. Am I right? Cause that was the only time ive seen him go all out like that.
Thats not the only Pavlik fight.
And enough about this "Steward is the greatest trainer ever." What good is he if his fighter doesnt even listen. And Pavlik is a MUCH smarter fighter then Jermain Taylor if you ask me.
He has brilliant gameplans that he comes up with his trainer, and he executes them to the best of his ability. Even if that means putting it all on the line! Name one other fighter that would have the balls to fight Miranda the way Pavlik did?
Idk much about Pavliks trainer, idk who he even is, but i think hes a fantastic trainer. He makes Pavlik do all these untraditional, old time things. Like roadwork, smacking the heavybag with a baseball bat, hitting tires with a sledgehammer, swimming laps, all this wierd cool stuff. AND, his trainer gives him damn good advice inbetween rounds.
And i dont mean to be discrediting Taylor here, i think he's a hell of a fighter to, and he comes into the ring in tip-top shape every single fight.
Good for Taylor that he's Training N ISOLATION...Cause the "Rumor" is, he was Getting his Ass WHIPPED by Andy Lee when Sparring @ Kronk Gym...
REED:boxing:
I think it's strange that every is nutting over this fight. I mean, Taylor fought Hopkins twice and Wright once, and people are just drooling over this fight. Larry Merchant said some shit like this is the biggest fight that can be made in the middleweight division in years. I don't know. I think Taylor is going to win it, and I don't think it's going to be a repeat of Pavlik-Miranda. It will probably be a decent fight without the excitement that everyone is expecting.
Pavlik is never in anything Less then a war.
Unfortunetly, many of his opponents can keep for very long. They give Pavlik a good fight for 3 or 4 rounds, and then Pavlik completely takes over.
Taylor, even if he loses every round (im not saying he will) hes gonna keep every round competitive and action packed. Same thing the other way around.
I also expect this fight to end dramatically
