I thought he did well, but in this Welterweight division you better be impressive to get any attention. A fight with Quintana on the undercard of Pavlik/Taylor is being discussed. That will tell us if Berto is ready.
Maybe too soon for this type of opponent. But you are right, if he wins then its a major win for him.
i missed the fight, but how do yall think he matches up with:
1. Alfonso Gomez
2.Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.
3. Zab Judah (i know zab is on a whole other level than the other two, but I'd like this fight for zab, to show hes still got it.)
1) The Gomez fight is a relatively tough call.. But I'll go with Alfonso by dec.
2) Berto over Chavez Jr. by KO.
3) Judah could sneak one in.. Berto would not likely recover. Zab by KO.
There's also the chance that these fights go the other way.
Berto still has good potential..
Considering Zab TKO'd Rivera in the third (2 years ago) I'd have to pick Zab at this point in their respective careers. But when Berto reaches his prime it is a different story.

Good matchups.
I'll have to consider that for a moment..

Agree he completely abandoned the body. He aimed high the entire night. You could tell he really wanted a KO. He just needs to pick his hands up. And realize that his jab can be his most effective punch.

I agree a Quintana fight would show even more than this fight did tonight.
I still would bring him along slowly he has good tool0s to be a great fighter. And he's only 23. I say he builds that record up against solid opponets before he jumps in there with any of the top 10 welterweights.

I agree that at this moment he would have trouble against the top WW's. He seemed like he wanted the highlight KO tonight and in the process he got lulled to sleep and got caught with a good left uppercut.
Cosme was a good fight for him and presented him things that he hasn't seen before and we even got to see how he responds after he got floored. Even though his corner pulled a slick move and bought him some time, he recovered good and had good rounds after that. He was spent though in the end. I know there wil be some that will jump off the bandwagon or hate on him more because he got dropped or didn't get a KO, but he still won. He will only get better and this fight could really help him out down the road.
yea, the guy is hasnt had 20 fights yet and "he's been exposed"! hell with under 20 fights, he should be exposed! Its called on-the-job training. kearn from it, get better, and show what u learned in the next fight. and im sure Berto learned a lot from this fight in which he will take into his training for his next fight
damn Berto Had No Energy In The 12th
well it was the 10th which gets me thinkin how he would have looked in the 12th eh?
I agree with the general consensus is on here. I think Berto vs Julio is a bad matchup for Berto.
But Berto is very entertaining. Id like to see a lot him against evenly matched guys. Seems like he could be in some great fights
Getting knocked down can be a good wake up call sometimes. It doesn't mean you suck. If anything it shows character to get back up and keep coming. He didn't stop throwing or go back into a shell he stayed agressive. Which is key that he didn't become discouraged.
Its amazing how when a young undefeated fighter gets knocked down or has a tough fight, it seems like someone cant wait to come out and say he's a "fraud"! he' s a young guy fighting a veteran and still is dominating. comments and thoughts like that is what keep the mega fights from happening. thats why fighters try to protect their undefeated records so badly. if they lose or be in a tough fight then they are perceived to be "overrated", which could hurt their earning potential. let the man fight and learn from each and and every one of them b4 you start saying he's been exposed
That's what pissed me off when everyone said that about Khan.
