Any other fighters worth making movies about at this point?
1. Gatti? (sorry...but his move would be awesome sometimes, but then too long and have a sucky ending)
2. Foreman? ( maybe if it werent for the Grills...and the decade between really mattering to boxing before beating a chinny Moorer then losing to Captain AIDS and Steroids Man)
3. James Toney? (Just kidding. Good lord. Maybe one of those age progression things where they do one a day for 10 years...and watch him grow like a giant black water balloon while showing fight clips every now and then)
4. Maybe Cassamayor, Hopkins, & Cotto could make "Dirty Boxing"
5. Chico...had a fight worth a movie...and if he had been in the accident after that fight....I think it would have worked. But...alas...life...
I dunno.
I guess my biggest regret as a boxing fan these days is there is no one to inspire me. No one that unites everyone.
No one worth making a movie about in other words.
Please.....Boxingscene....
Prove me wrong.
Even if you have to reach back to hallowed antiquity.
Find me a movie to make.
It must be in pre-production still.. I hear it's going forward.
There was a rumor Vin Diesel was being considered for the role at one point.. I think Howard is still the guy..
I'm pretty sure "Hugh Jackson" is Hugh Jackman.
What happened to the supposed Spike Lee movie about Joe Louis?
Lee talks more about his next feature, written by Budd Schulberg, about the Max Schmeling-Joe Louis face-off: "Schulberg sat in the audience of the second Schmeling/Louis fight in 1938. Terence Howard, who was nominated for an Oscar for his role in Hustle & Flow will play Louis, and Hugh Jackson will play Schmeling. Now I'm working on the financing... It's going to be an epic: Hitler, Goebbels, Roosevelt, Mussolini, Lena Horne. Ever heard of David Lean? I'm telling you: epic. Three hours at least! Bigger than Malcolm X!" One can imagine that, given Jodie Foster's on-again, off-again efforts to make her Leni Riefenstahl biopic, she and Lee might have had quite a lot to talk about in the run-up to shooting Inside Man. For one thing, both plan to make their films in Berlin. But that's not all signandsight's got on this one: There's also a translation of Katja Nicodemus's interview with Lee for Die Zeit and, it turns out, that film is really very much on his mind. He asks her who might play Max Schmeling's wife.

A Diego Corrales project would be ideal.
It just might be a little more self destructive in it's themes than his family or fans may be ready for just yet..
Casting would be a bitch for any biopic on a fighter..
Mark Wahlberg is playing Micky Ward in a movie about the tough Irishmans upbringings and a story about his life. I think the movie is called "The Fighter".
Julio Cesar Chavez.. By the way, you don't follow the life until the very end. You end the movie on the climatic (good) point of the fighters life. So, the ACTUAL ending to the persons life really isn't important.
