I had it 116-112 Williams, but I think the fight showed that both margarito and williams are world class level guys... i think they give any of the top guys a tough fight
i guess it depends on what you are scoring.... if williams lands 30 punches, but half are pit-pat backhands, while tony lands 20 hard punches, who do you score it for??
in the end, i think tony started too late, he was too far behind by the time he started to get busy in the 5th or 6th round...
on a side note, i think williams is a tough match up for anyone, but i also think that cintron with his powerful str8 right hand can give williams a beating... he matches up well
Clottey was beating him until he broke his hand. Cotto would beat his ass IMO. I don't think he'd beat Mosley. I could see him beating Hatton. I doubt Hatton would fight Margarito though.
IMO he can beat Cotto, Hatton, Mosley, Cintron and Clottey.
Cintron doesn't count and Clottey schooled him already before he broke his hand, Mosley would out box him, Cotto would beat him and you probably picked him to beat Williams also which only proves even more that he was overhyped, it definitely showed in his last two matches.
Good to see a Magarito backer seeing the fight. And your right, Margarito isn't going anywhere as far as the welterweight divison. He is a tough matchup for anybody at 147-160 in my mind.
I saw this fight live yesterday, and to be honest, I had it for Margarito also. It was different watching it live because every time Margarito landed, the sound of the impact was loud and gave you the sense the Margarito was landing the more meaningful and harder shots while Williams was just throwing pity pat shots that were never taking any affect on Margarito, and shit was funny when people were saying, "Chop that tree down, the bigger they are, the harder they fall," lol. Oh and also, the crowd was fuck'en amazing for the fight, from watching the reply, it couldn't show you that, the place was really loud.
I'm shocked
I was at the fight rooting for my man Tony Margarito, in my opinion he lost it clearly, watching it live was even worse then it was on TV, I thought Williams won 11 rounds when watching it live, all you see Williams throwing punch after punch. After watching the replay in TV, I had it 8-4 for williams.
Williams was the better man tonight, Tony will be back & win another belt soon, I'm not worried whats so ever.
Really? Tho I thought watching the fight live was hell of a lot better compared to when I saw the reply on t.v. this morning.

Interesting. I had Williams winning by the same 116-112 margin...but Margarito definitely won the second half of the fight. It would have been nice to see that one go 15 rounds.
I was ringside and did my own poll of the other press row guys. It was about 60% to 40% Williams but they all had it 115-113.
I had it 115-113 Williams. Many of the press row guys were actully cheering for Margarito during the fight. I have never seen that before. Most of the time the men I sit near are unbiased, but that was not the case here, and I have no idea why.

if we post round by round stats of course it will favor williams...and rightfully so because he was the more active fighter....all im saying is that many of u are making too much of the stats where most of them were pit pat...now with that the gameplan worked because it kept marg at bay....im not defending marg because i dont like him but he was not blown out and a draw is concievable......he messed it up in the 12th and williams got the rightful win....
I am not arguing with you, its just fun debate. Were some of Williams punches not hard stiff punches, sure. But many fighters use the jab as a measurement to create space, or just keep a fighter off balance. Some throw the jab as a power shot (like Quartey). Williams uses his reach, speed, and workrate to keep a fighter off balance. Marg is usless unless he can set his feet and swing. Why not beat him but keeping him guessing 90% of the fight.

Oh and this just in......The Tony hater's scores don't count.
Because every round that would be close they just gave to Williams....and I saw about 4 or 5 rounds that were definitely swingers.

You said you scored it for Williams in the poll! LOL! Yet you also said Margarito won in another thread. Make up your mind, fool.
Can you read? I clearly stated that Williams won 7 rounds to 5.
I agreed with Legend's score because it was correct.

I think some of you all are just hatin. I mean you all sound as if Margarito had several rounds of action packed punching. He had a couple of spurts of it but is that enough to win a round?
Someone please post per round punch stats?
I had the fight scored 115-113 myself for Williams. Margarito looked like he was going to surge in the middle rounds. But it didn't happen. And as for as the Williams "backhanding" thing, Williams was landing some pretty good shots if you actually watched the fight. They were no Hearns jackhammers, but Margarito was feeling them, along with some pretty good body shots. Both of them are problems for anybody at welter. The whole 140-154 weight classes are STACKED.
well thanks for letting us know you can't score. I'm keeping a running list of people that scored DLH-Mayweather for Oscar and Margarito-Williams for Margarito so I'll be able to consult it before reading any of their analyses on any fight in the future.
if u read my post earlier i never said i had margarito winning....all im debating is how some people are calling us out for having it close....i have williams winning 7-5......i dont really care too much for both but williams was credited with tons of pit pat which alot of fellas in here are running with the compu stats....
did u know that most of those landed were back handed slaps to his face....if i would of gave marg the 12th i would of had it a draw but williams took it......

How do you score 5 rounds for Margarito, did you know Williams landed more punches in 10 out of the 12 rounds.
