He has a lot to prove tomorrow night in Atlantic City against Gomez. Gatti got his ass kicked in last fight, last year. Some people really talk highly of him, but he isn't that great. Maybe he is out of him prime...but overall, is he overrated?
Exciting fighter with a poor defense. I don't think he was overated i don't really hear many gatti fans making claims that he is one of the best in his weight class ever he was just an all action fighter with a large fan base. I do think he should retire now he way past it and if he comes in with a poor offense tonight then we will all know he has absolutely nothing left. His offense and fighting heart was all he had.
Not overrated...
Just over the hill, with a few hundred thousand miles on him.
He can conk out any minute now.
He is well respected and will always be remembered for the sheer entertainment he provided his fans.
Don't know if having Mickey will get his win juices flowing, but as experienced as he is, he should be able to handle the young gun.
An impressive win by Arturo will certainly make all his fans too happy.
But, will give him a false sense of courage for more unnecessary fights. :boxing:
No Gatti isnt overrated. He is very good at being exciting and taking punches to the face like a goalkeeper and for that he is as exciting as people say he is. But as a boxer and have the ability to win fights against good boxers he is overrated.
He has no defense but offensively he's quite impressive. If he comes in with a shitty defense and shitty offense tomorrow since I believe he is shot. Then Gomez will come out with a victory.
No, everybody knows he's got nothing left. He should be medically retired for the good of boxing.......
Anyone wanna bet against gatti tonight, i'd be more than happy to take that bet.
I think that's a little unfair.
He was no p4p guy, but he was a titlist and one of the top 130 lb. fighters at the time he was there during the 95-97 period. He was still probably a top 10 guy at 140.
If you're a top 10 contender, I think that makes you world-class.
ok, ill agree with you
I don't think Gatti is overrated, just emmensely popular....
He is exciting and has a hige following that are behind him no matter what....I don't think many people would make the clame he is an all time great, or ever was a real world class fighter...
All that said im rooting HARD for Gatti!!

I'll be rooting for him tomorrow since I live in New Jersey, and he is from there. The fight is in Atlantic City, so he will have another home crowd, just like last year.
He's not from New Jersey, he's from Montreal, Quebec.
I can't remember when but he moved in New Jersey in the 90's

gatti has never had overrated skill. Its just that he is an exciting fighter.. Skill wise he has never been much better than a C+ fighter.. But he prety much was pro boxing rocky balboa.. when you thought he was completley out of the fight he came back...
