okay, Wladimir Klitschko is clearly the best heavyweight today. He has a great jab, and right hand is a lethal weapon. With these great aspects, how would he do against heavyweights of the past such as, Ali, Louis, Marciano, and Dempsey? Personally, I think he would give heavyweights of the past a little trouble, and would put up a very good fight, but would still come up on the short end of the stick. Your thoughts?
Guys from the past fought for 15 rounds..sometimes more..
Vlad can barely make 12..
He is not a 15 round fighter..[/QUOTE
youre judging him by a mere 2 fights when he didnt pace himself and punched himself out. he hasnt shown stamina problems in any other fights such as byrd1 ,,peter...mccline..sultan...etc

Does Wlad need 15 rounds to beat a 180-200 lb fighter?

wlad's height, power and reach would give a lot of past heavyweight problems.
ive been apart of a few boxing forums, i have to say 18/20 of the people on the forums have no common sense. they think because they like a guy, he's more popular, and fought a long time ago that he'd destory any boxer today.
the only men in boxing who could probably outpoint wlad is his brother or lennox lewis. foreman shavers and tyson could probably "catch" him and win, but he also could beat them. styles make fights and you have to have some size or power to beat wlad...ALI was one of the softest hitting heavyweight champs in history, and holmes hit slighty harder. no chance
the average heavyweight of today would be champ in the 20s 30s and 40s, no disrespect to those guys but they've never felt power the guys who box today. it would be a CRIME to put wlad into the ring with marciano dempsey or louis, their flat footed style would get their faces caved in. i would put my money on a prime lamon brewster to beat most heavyweights of the past
alot of you guys have vivid imaginations, i hope most of you are under 20. ROCKY was a movie, not real life
I wonder why you forgot to mention that HWs from the past had better stamina, better skills, more fights under their belts. and that 90% of them fought in deeper eras. and that none of them was stopped three times by marginal fighters.

Wald is very skilled,I'll state the obvious...but it's that chin, which is why I believe Foreman knocks him out.Ali slices him up...Frazier?...I don't know...good fight, but if he lands that left hook, lights out.
The chin is also why I would do not think he would fare well against many of the greats. The second teir guys, yeah he beats.
The young Tyson...lights out.Holyfeild, late KO by Holy...
Larry Holmes,Wald gets sliced and diced...
Just my opinion....
Frazier, Foreman hits anybody flush their gonna level them. Problem is that I can't honestly see them tagging a focused Wlad. Poor Frazier would have too much dangerous ground to cover before he could even consider jumping several vertical inches to catch Wlad; he could walk through Ali's jab and dig in but against big punchers like Foreman(who isn't even as fast or long as Wlad) he's roadkill. Foreman was big and strong but I can't see him walking down Wlad; who should be able to keep his distance and stuff the jab. This is assuming Wlad doesn't get overconfident and walk into something big like the Sanders fight; but that has proved to be the exception rather than the rule for now.
Prime Holyfield on the other hand was really quick and fucking smart, he could get on the inside and do some serious damage with his counter punching. Ali probably wouldn't slice Wlad up(it's not like he's a tiny Quarry battling through the jab or a walking target like Cleveland Williams), but he could out point him with no trouble as I think he was just too agile and quick. Tyson should be able to fuck up Wlad's body, but Tucker fighting tall and holding on the inside method could work; and Mike wouldn't be able to absord those early big rights against Wlad. Both have a good chance to take it.
This is all just fun speculation though, I would love to see these fights. Overall, I think Wlad's intelligence, size, and power would give anybody serious trouble; and I don't see him getting gassed or caught napping very often. His chin is really underrated, he was already teetering from fatigue when Brewster caught him(and he still didn't go down until after the bell) and the Sanders win is one of those "didn't see that one coming!" moments.
lol,,hate much? heavyweights back then were much smaller. now there 220+ almost exclusively and when they hit you it can be lights out for anyone and 2 of 3 of wlads losses were obvious flukes which he showed in brew 2. just like with lewis's 2 losses. wlad is clearly on top of his game now. Im just stating the obvious
Since the 60s HW consistently weighed over 200+. Now you are telling me that at 200-210 champions dont get KOed, but at 220 they do?
I thought the main point of nuthugging was defying logic, not physics.
also. the whole fucking planet constantly gets taller and bigger, do you think that Wlad's grandparents where as tall as he is?
He'd do well, not because of his skill but because of his physical attributes. You guys realize that Joe Louis wasnt a great big guy. He was skilled, he is a legend, but we live in different times.
Just like a F-22 is better then an F-86, not saying that an F-86 is not a legendary jet.
Guys like, Lewis and Wlad would be great competition in any point in boxing.
How well would they do? I have no idea.
But saying that either a guy like Lewis or Wlad would get "sliced and diced", "knocked the fuck out" back then is nothing but blind hate and stupidity.
Any of you ever spar someone over 6foot4 250lb of muscle? Well until you do, STFU. They dont need much skill when you are that big. All you need is a jab and a good straight shot.
I agree. good post. about time someone put these hating morons in there place besides just myself :boxing:

"deal with it"
maybe if someone has to deal with something, it's the fanboys that should deal with their boy being stopped THREE times.
How come that no lineal heavyeight champ got KOed three times in their 20s?
It must be a coincidence, right? and i have to deal with it, right?
pathetic

lol,,,I love how all the haters can only focus on wlads whopping 3 stoppage losses over 52 fights. he was young and didnt pace himself. 2 of those 3 losses were obvious flukes. the wlad of 2007 is a whole different beast. deal with it

like Corrie Sanders? or like Ross Purrity? or maybe he could go 1-1 (like he di against the great Lamon Brewster)?

Shavers...he took a better punch and gave a harder one.
your posts are so moronic. shavers was knocked out in 1 by quarry. all he had was tremendous power. his stamina and defense was horrible. wlad would stop any version of him within 4 round
Wlad would beat any heavy in history in their prime. Period.

It is my opinion that it is difficult and unfair to compare different boxers from different eras especially in the HW division. If you look at it historically the champs were MUCH smaller than today's champ and as a result I think that many of today's champs would fare quite well against many past HW champs. That being said although I think that Wlad is probably a favorite against most past HW greats (if they fought 10 times I give Wlad a good chance to win at least 6 against most) I by no means consider him to be one of or the GREATEST. It all is dependent on the era while head 2 head Wlad would often prevail guys like Marciano, Dempsey, Ali, Foreman etc. they never lost to the likes of Ross Puritty. So I guess my answer is Wlad would fare well but I'm not sure what the historical significance of that is.
