Unification is never going to happen. Wladimir had a chance to fight Chagaev this summer and never really pursued it. It's absurd to claim anyone in this division wouldn't want to fight Wlad above all others. He's the most skilled by far, but he's also so vulnerable, any puncher has a chance to take him out. I want to know why Wladimir didn't immediately try to land a fight with Chagaev instead of going after Brewster? It's almost like anytime Wladimir has a chance to unify, he chases some meaningless fight instead. Every other fight has to be a mandatory fight and Klitschko apparently just used his against Brewster when he should have been unifying with Chagaev (I know Ibragimov was unavailable having just fought in June).
With no worthy opponents for his upcoming voluntary defense, Klitschko either needs to sit out and wait to fight the Chagaev-Ibragimov winner or fight an opponent who probably has no chance but still has meaning in a fight with him, and that's Corrie Sanders. I hadn't realized Sanders fought in May, so inactivity isn't really an excuse. Besides, Sanders was inactive for like a year and a half the last time he dusted Wlad. This fight should happen. It will be marketable if nothing else.
Hell no....Sanders got rocked by an old Tyson...A young Wald would kill him..Let your hand heal and fight a champion..
...And this is why you know dick about the heavies. You can't tell a black guy from a white guy.
Definitely. I'm surprised they haven't yet. Corrie must be on a golf tour and hasn't heard the news for a while. Because, like I said, you know Sanders would fight Wlad.
Maybe he’ll ‘toss his hat into the ring’(feels like an uncertain presidential candidate :lol1: ) in the coming days after he learns that Wlad’s searching for an opponent for a fall bout. Strangely enough, the only media report I’ve heard on Sanders is from his manager that stated that Corrie was broke and needed to box to earn a living. I think we’ll hear something soon…
Sanders should fight one fight and an IBF-elemitnator so he could be the rightful challenger for Wlad but other than that I dont know if he deserve the fight
Before any of you boxing experts, considers Sanders as a viable opponent for Wlad, let me just give you guys an update on him:
After nearly a 2 year hiatus from the ring, Sanders returned in late 2006 to take on journeyman Colin Wilson (32-18 at the time). Sanders stopped Wilson in the second round but it was reported that Sanders was very out of shape and didn’t look good at all.
Sanders returned in May 2007 to face unknown Daniel Bispo(19-6) and scored a 10 round UD. Reports stated that Sanders’ broke his (left) hand early on in the fight and as a result was not able to KO Bispo.
Since then, the Sanders camp has been very quiet about Corrie’s injury and has not stated if and when he would be able to return to the ring. And surprisingly, they haven’t commented on Sanders as being a potential opponent for Wlad.
So basically, I don’t know if Sanders would be in any shape to fight Klitschko if he was even offered the fight. You would think that Team Sanders would ‘throw their hat’ in the race, with Klitschko seemingly wanting an opponent for a fall bout.

yup. At Least Sanders is a big guy unlike Brewster or Byrd and has a chance to beat Wlad.
an in shape sanders is actually smaller than most of the guys wlad has beaten
WTF are you going on about? Sanders never fought Tyson.
Sanders' future is up in the air right now. He hurt his hand in his comeback victory two months ago. I have not been able to find any news on him since then.
ww
Had Corey & Corrie mixed up...Chill out playa
Do you have Corrie Sanders confused with the Corey Sanders who sparred with Tyson on his "World Tour" that made it to Ohio before derailing...?
Yea...my bad...I was moving to fast..
And you're out of your mind if you don't think Sanders would fight Wlad again. Wasn't he calling Wlad out this time last year? It's amazing how that fight suddenly becomes one of the better ones when we (myself included) scoffed at it a year ago. This division gets worse every year.
Sure he should fight Sanders again. But people will give him no credit because Sanders is old, so whats the fucking point?
Besides I dont know how much Sanders wants it. If he fights him he knows he will loose, and will go down in history as a no body. But if he keeps that win over Wlad then at least he will be know as the man who beat Wlad, once Wlad establishes himself as the fighter of this generation.
He'll get more credit for beating Sanders than he will for beating Holyfield or Rahman or Liakhovich or whatever other unworthy contender you're thinking of

fighters are tied to promoters dummy. wlad is the biggest money fight but he also has too strong a chance of winning so promoters avoid him becuase they know theyre likely to lose there champions
Though the fights would probably be one-sided and almost predetermined, I would like to see Wlad rematch Sanders and Vitali rematch Byrd. That gets Byrd away from Wlad in terms of all this mandatory challenger nonsense and gives Vitali a good win (after McCline and Peter-Maskaev winner) to bounce back into things. I remember when Vitali beat Sanders, I wanted him to fight Byrd, but he just wouldn't do it and chose Danny Williams instead. Vitali and Wladimir should avenge these defeats while they wait around for something better.
