I think he had money on the under which was 8.5 rounds.
Hes always trying to stop fights....f@ck him.
The whole night could have changed w/one punch.
Good win for Vlad...his jab is beautiful. No excuses...Brewsters will to fight has been snuffed out. He should have taken a tune-up and I was saying that before anyway. 15 months after taking a whipping, one should tune-up.
McGirt should be banned from boxing. Whos wants to be a quitter?
I was informed by a source before this fight that Brewster was suffering from injuries to his right calf and sciatic nerve. About thirty seconds into the fight, I saw Brewster hobble and knew immediately he wasn't going to beat Klitschko. It's a shame that Brewster wasn't 100 percent for the fight.
However, I completely agree with Buddy McGirt. He didn't want Brewster to be injured in the fight. It was apparent he didn't have what he needed to get the job done on that night and he pulled his man out of the fight. Great stoppage, I completely applaud McGirt.
I knew that was coming. a little revenge from the brew camp after wlad made excuses over his loss in the first fight. I still love brew though. was hoping he'd at least put up a good fight tonite
McGirts inbetween round advice wasnt the best either. "Come forward"...maybe something like slip the jab to the right jab in and work the body. Lamon was going for the head. Klits jab was counterable but going to the head wont work as Klit leans and fades back leaving his stomach open.
McGirt fought good...maybe a good trainer...prolly...but sucks in the corner imo.
Good Stoppage, Lamon was just standing their eating punches and wasnt mounting an attack so Mcgirt showed he cared about his fighter and stopped it.
I wouldnt say Mcgirt is a bad trainer he was giving Lamon advice and he just wasnt doing it. He told him to move forward and make him fight but instead he stayed out of range for his own punches but in range for Klitschko's.

For god's sake! Someone ban him for having the fighters' best interest at heart! The horror!
I think youre right. Before the fight he said Wlad will have to kill him to beat him, then he gives a subdued performance and isnt bothered when McGirt says he wants to stop it.
Why front and decieve everyone? If hes gonna give up when the going gets tough he shouldnt be competing anymore. I wanna see competition...not dead guys.
Even Merchant said McGirt does it alot. Merchant said/thinks it inspires a fighter to do better the next round. I think it does the opposite and brings a fighter down...it wasnt like Lamon was getting really hurt and dancing on queer street.
Quitting on your stool is like envogue now and not a fan.
I don't have a problem with the stoppage. But there's a trend all his fighters are getting their asses kicked. So maybe he's a bit overrated as a trainer.
Oh yeh, as soon i started reading this thread that was exactly my train of thought. How can you train a fighter who is at such a massive height disadvantage to his opponent and not have him prepared to deal with a jab. He should have been eating jabs 24/7 in sparring getting his head movement right and trying get inside.
I know hindsight is a wonderful thing but honestly, would anyone have sent gatti out to outbox mayweather.
In summary
Gatti, suprised by speed
brewster suprised by jabs
McGirt, overrated as fuck.
I think youre right. Before the fight he said Wlad will have to kill him to beat him, then he gives a subdued performance and isnt bothered when McGirt says he wants to stop it. I think he knew in his heart that he was incredibly lucky in the first fight due to whatever happened to Wlad, and that he stood no chance at all in the rematch. Other than one round in which Wlad was SERIOUSLY not himself, Brewster has taken a serious beating from Wlad and not shown that he is anywhere near in his league.
you are right, i think that his will to fight was suspect... they kept referring back to him saying that he wants to see his kids etc. but to me that just means he didnt really come to fight... he showed up for the paycheck.
am i off on this?
It was a good stoppage because Brewster just didnt have it in him to come back. He was getting hit with a lot of punches, was tired, wobbly, swelled up and cut. He would've been put down by the eigth. And notice, before Buddy stopped it, he was waiting for Brewster to object to the stoppage. He didnt object because he knew he was beaten. Im surprised Brewster didnt want to continue, but I don't criticize him for it.
Your right that's the other thing it wasn't like Brewster was begging McGirt for the fight to go on.

You might be right he's been going through a losing streak with some of his fighters. The only one right now that I can think of that he's really helping out is Malinaggi. I guess it takes a certain fighter to fit a certain trainer and vise versa.
He had absolutely no chance. Hell he had no chance in the first fight until Wlad gassing out. If Buddy wouldn't have stopped it, Wlad could have permanently damaged him.

I felt like it was good stoppage. I mean there was no chance that Brewster was going to make a comeback. He even said it himself that he didn't want to fight the way he fought before and that was the only way he was going to have a chance. You could see the frustration in his face and even told McGirt between one of the rounds that he couldn't get to him. Why take that punishment when he has a family of four? Live to fight another day.
exactly...and a doctor can fix his eye...say it is 100%...but who is to say that 50 hard right hands by a 245lb trained puncher wouldn't bust it again?
fight another day? sure...
be able to see his kids and family continue to grow with two health eyes...I'd like for him for MANY another-a-day

with Gatti and Floyd..Gatti was eating a lot...had been in a lot of wars...and wasn't doing anything to change the fight...
tonight, Brewster was in with a big man who was dominating, Brewster has had a bad eye in the past, kept eating punches without offering anything up...
so continue the fight? What for? maybe you continue a fight if it seems your opponent is fighting to win and will have something to show...but no reason to let him get eaten alive for nothing...
more fighters need trainers who treat them like men and human beings rather than dogs and robotic toys that you throw in a lions pit and let fight to the death...that is what "masters" did to slaves...throw them into the dirt and make them fight to the death for sheer entertainment...I didn't want to see Brewster just taking unecessary punishment for the sake of watching Wlad score a Brock like knockout
he said he would give Brewster one more round...he did...Brewster didn't show anything...and STILL gave him another round...neither Gatti nor Brewster objected...he shows he cares, but gives his fighters the chance to be smart men themselves
He always saying hes gonna stop a fight for alot of fighters. Brewster wasnt exactly getting blasted non stop. You stop a fight like Basilio.SRR 2 when the guys eyes popping out...or like the Vargas eye. He wasnt bubbled and those jabs were'nt putting Brewster on queer street.
McGirts trigger happy.
Lamon got dropped before he K'd Klit the last time.
The corner have some responsibility to the fighter. That was a good call, and if you feel otherwise, something is clearly wrong in your humanity-department ;)
