IT now seems almost certain Joe Calzaghe will fight Mikkel Kessler on November 3 in Cardiff — and the fight will smash all British box office records.
I’ve just got a few loose ends to tie up — including some with Joe — but all the major obstacles have now been overcome.
Most importantly of all, I’ve agreed terms with Kessler’s team, who are happy to come to the UK.
The fight will probably be held at the Millennium Stadium, where we got a crowd of 35,000 for Calzaghe’s WBO super-middleweight title defence in April against Peter Manfredo Jr.
With Kessler bringing his WBA and WBC titles to the party, I expect at least 60,000 to be in attendance. As a result, both fighters will be getting career-high purses
Kessler will school him, and without Amir Khan on the undercard and a 15-fight undercard there won't be more than 5,000 people there
kessler all the way .
I agree Kessler will school Cal. :D
Kessler by wide UD, if JC survives the KD's.
Calzaghe will find out he has been lied to for 10 years.
Finally we will see him in the ring with an elite. Lets hope Calzaghe won't look like Manfredo in comparison.
damn, people really thought kessler would win
thought they would have learnt after the lacy schooling not to bet against calzaghe

My, aren't you mature. Are you the sort of 'tard that the sport of boxing draws as it's fanbase these days? The world's in a sad state.
Yeah, everybody gets it...you're a Calzaghe fan and he won the most important and demonstrative fight of his career. Try and control yourself.

Why are you posting that photo on ever Calzaghe/Kessler thread, without any other comment?
You got a bet,we can say 15000 point,agree?
And you will have you first boxing-bet loss :owned:
Sorry I didn't reply to this sooner, I didn't catch it after you posted it.
Anyway. yep. Agreed. Or for that matter, we can just make the bet whatever I have in my account at the time the fight starts, provided you can cover it, if you feel 15,000 is too small to bother with.
By the way, I did lose a bet recently, but it was a round pick and not a straight win or lose bet. I picked Klitchko to KO Brewster in the 3rd. When Manny made his own prediction before the fight (7th), I immediately knew I was fucked. I won't make that mistake again. That was the first (and last) time I've ever picked a round, but the odds were 10/1 and I felt it was worth a shot. Easy come, easy go, as they say.
P.S.
I'm not a kid, and don't keep up with the way they talk, but from what I gather, when you've "Owned" someone, you've proven they're an idiot, wrong, stupid, etc. I've hardly been "owned", just taken up on a wager that I'm tickled to make.
I see Joe wining! Hes gonna get hit quite a bit though in this fight..But hes gonna win hands down..Thats not trying to take anything away from Kessler but thats how I see it!
i doubt calzaghe can take a punch after fighting all these creampuffs and when he does get hit he's gonna panic and probably jump outta the ring
Calzaghe will break his hand in round 2 and the other in round 4 :chairshot
I can see that you're completely convinced of it, so I won't try and argue the finer points any more, but I will offer to bet you every point I have against an equal number of yours that I'm right, and you're wrong. :)
I feel it's only fair to tell you, though, that I haven't lost a boxing bet (when I picked a winner and bet on it) in years, and also that these points mean nothing to me, so even if I were to lose (no actual chance of that happening, I'm just giving you a hypothetical situation), it would mean nothing to me. :D

The footmovement of Kessler is excellent. We saw that against Andrade. Against Beyer, he didn't have to move. Beyer had nothing that could hurt Kessler, so why run. Every time Beyer came forward, he got tagged. Yes, Calzaghe can dance around Kessler, but then he can't land anything. Calzaghe can't win this fight from a distance. Kesslers jab is to good and to fast. Calzaghe must get inside, and on the way in he will get tagged and Kessler will move away.
Kessler will walk through calzaghe, he may loose more rounds than his previous career combined, but he will win

Weren't they saying the same thing when Jeff Lacy went to Wales? "Calzaghe's going to get exposed", "Joe's gonna get KO'd", "They're going to show Calzaghe why he ought to stay in Wales"....I just don't see it happening. Kessler has a very conventional technique, albeit highly honed and as you say, among the world's elite. Problem with that is that Calzaghe does very well against conventional fighters. It's the oddballs that seem to give him a little trouble, and then only if he doesn't come prepared.
I think it'll be a good fight, maybe even a great one, but it'll be mostly predictable. Calzaghe will control the action for the most part, will land the most punches, and will be a clear winner on the cards. Kessler will fight a very good fight, but not quite good enough to win. Oh, they might have a rematch, but it's academic, with the outcome a foregone conclusion.
Oh, I see you're from Denmark....I'm glad you're loyal to your neighbors, but don't engage in self-deception. Bad habit to get into, that.

Calzaghe is faster than Kessler (faster than anyone in the division, by far), has a very unconventional style, and will most likely confuse Kessler just like he confuses everyone else. I like Kessler, he's very solid, skilled technically, dedicated, has a great work ethic, and is very ring-smart, but I don't think he's got an answer for Calzaghe's style and speed. And one thing you can always count on....Joe will be in great fucking shape, and will not slow down in late rounds. If anything, he comes on stronger. Kessler will most likely finish on his feet and behind on the cards by a comfortable (for Calzaghe) but not embarassing margin.

Calzaghe has a lot of the tools to beat Kessler, but I don't see him do it. Kessler proved against Andrade that he can handle a very aggressive fighter for 12 rounds without losing a round. Calzaghe is a way better boxer than Andrade (and he should at this time be considered the best at super middle ever), but those boxing skills he won't be able to use against Kessler as he can against other fighters. Calzaghe has a lot of different tactics, but fighting at a distance against Kessler is like fighting against the Klitschko at a distance: it won't work. Calzaghe needs to get closer. He has a lot of agility and good footwork, but Kessler moves just as well. Kessler will frustrate Calzaghe, but also take more shots than usual. But in the end
Kessler will win fairly easy
LOL they aren't even fighting now because they bickered so long about the venue and date. I kinda agree with HBO telling them to f*** off if they take that long. It will teach both promoters a lesson in the future about how to negotiate a fight, which Warren has to be the worst at of all time. I know it's a great style matchup on paper, but I lost interest when June rolled around and this still wasn't signed. You can only bicker so long before everyone stops caring.
