I was looking @ his record and his only loss was @ the end of his career and he had ill drug problems. I used to follow him as a kid and loved watching him fight.
Its no secret he was heavily dodged. Without Arguello his resume is shit. SRL didnt want it...Hearns lost in the am's to him and didnt want it either. How come Duran and the Hawk never met?
39-1-35 is no joke.
What happened...why was he dodged so bad? He was dodged like nobody else.
I saw a documentary on him and its pretty sad how the drugs got him. Poor Hawk...
Anyone know alot of info about the Hawk?
Hearns and Leonard eat him alive in the pros. Whitaker soundly out boxes him, Duran grinds him down and stops him late...
At 140 I'd favor a 88/89 Meldrick Taylor over him too.
All of that being said, Pryor was a wolverine. He'd give those guys hell, but I can't see him defeating them.
Well he gave Hearns a ASS WHIPPIN in the ams...guess it was enough to keep him running scared for the duration...wasnt it?
He moved his head too much for SRL...thats how you negate a guys speed...alot of movement.
Meldrick might have done it though. Doubt it though.
Hell yeah he could have been beaten in his prime. Pryor was sloppy, he had bad balance, he struggled with guys who shouldn't have even shared the same ring with him (before he ultimately stopped them). The young upstart D-Town fighter Johnson floored him and gave him a rough go of it before Pryor overwhelmed him. I'm sure guys that were MUCH better than that would have beaten him.

Pacman and Pryor have the same aggressive style...ask any boxing expert when pacman first came on the scene he was being compared to him...but pacman actually is living to his potential while pryor was potential lost.
pryor beat alexis arguello 2 times and pacman beat morales 2 times...both beat supposed aging legends.
good post...
Although, I think Pryor would have beaten a younger Alexis. Where as a younger Morales would have eaten Pac raw.
I just looked @ Arguello's record...yo...he started in the 60's. Thats crazy...didnt know that.
They always do documentaries or movies on great stories like these.
Hawk
The Aaron Pryor Story
I could pitch that right to the bank.
Who to play Pryor though?
He was one tough little mother fanker, it would've not been easy to beat Pryor in his prime, maybe Floyd!
Maybe Floyd? Have you actually seen Pryor fight? He would beat Floyd unmercifully. The he would have mugged him for his share of the purse.
Watching that and all I could say is PACQUIAO its so eerie how pacman is the reincarnate of Pryor, dude it creeped me out how they fight exactly the same and are super aggressive and keep coming forward.
Dude no way in hell could Pac come anywhere near Pryor. Pryor was prime at jrWW, Pac wouldn't be able to hurt him and would be demolished.
The fight's on there, is it? I've been checking the torrents for it for ages.
and the guy looked old.
just write Aaron Pryor i did that and got about Alexis 1 and 2 as well as this fight and a japanese guy and Hearns

it from the commetators in the fight.
I just seen the beging of the fight at youtube and this information was taken from the commetator on that fight
it unoffical he is 40

Just checked Boxrec and it says he was 35 and it was his 100th fight. Not sure how accurate it is though.
I've never heard the shoe story before. Interesting.

heard he was 40 something unoffical when he was fighting Pryor as well as he had 120 fight unoffical and used leather sole shoes in a slippery floor and Proyer had rubber
but it alway good to win a champion

They both took a lot of punishment and since neither of them was the same Pryor beating him earlier in the rematch means a lot because he wasnt doped up the that time.
if someone took something to enhance his preformance and it not part of the sport commiction then he should be punished.
anyway if Pryor lost UD to Arguello his career path would have changed

I guess that's one way to interpret those events.
Another way is to accept that Pryor was a great fighter who tragically succumbed to cheating and who's legacy was therefore forever tarnished.
Sure. Neither fighter was the same after the beatings they put on each other that day. The fact that the second fight ended as it did doesn't change the facts of the first fight.
That Pryor was doped in the first fight with Arguello is pretty well documented and a quick google of their names will indicate as much.
I watched the fight live and even then couldn't believe the punishment Pryor was able to absorb. It seemed unnatural. Turns out, it was.

His resume's not that lacking. He has Cervantes on there too, who's arguably the next best LWW that ever lived.
