If this fight does happen, how will Hattons smothering style do against Floyds hit and run style?
Brits are saying that Hatton will smother Floyd and that Floyd wont be able to handle Hattons wrestling/body shot style.
Thing is can Hatton catch Floyd and smother him?
Floyd has good footwork and can box from the outside. When Hatton does come in will Hatton just walk straight through Floyds punches to wrestle?
And when they do wrestle will Floyds defence get the better of Hattons smother and be able to slip away? Is it possible that Floyd is going to be too used to boxing on the outside and will choke when wrestled?
If Floyd comes in to attack Hatton, Hatton will try to come in to meet Floyd to smother him, will Hatton smother Floyd enough?

This video has some clips where Floyd does get smothered, It seems possible that if Hatton is an expert at smothering he just might overwhelm Floyd.
Looking at the video above, if Hatton does have the chin to take Floyds outside punches had enough defence to block Floyds jabs and enough stamina to last 12 rounds if Hattons shots don't hurt Floyd I would say that Hatton will have a good if not a great chance to beat Floyd.
If Hatton works his ass off in his training camp a win over Floyd might not be above him.
As for DLH vs. Hatton, there is no chance in hell Hatton will win.
Ricky Hatton ate Tszyu's Punches all night long..
Is anyone gonna tell me Floyd mayweather hits anywhere near as HARD as Tszyu??:pat:
No, but Kostya didn't hit Hatton enough.
Does Collazo hit anywhere hear as hard as Tszyu?
Accumulation of punches is a bitch.
This will be a mismatch. Just because Floyd decides to fight on the outside during most of his fights dosent mean he cant fight on the inside. Floyd is a great fighter on the inside or outside. If he decides to hit and run he'll whoop Hattons Arse and if he desides to stand in and trade.....He'll whoop Hattons Arse.. every 3 to 4 years a british , irish guy comes along than they hype him and he gets exposed.Loses and is never heard from again. Hatton is all hype he's only fought twice outside of his backyard and has never faced the quality and talent of Floyd. So buy the hype but most importantly buy the pay per view. And we can all go to the airport to wave goodbye to Hatton as he will never be back in the states after getting embarrassed against Floyd. Hatton fight will be a breeze. I think Cotto is a tougher fight for Floyd.
Agreed.:boxing:

good points but neither of the two fights you showed really represent this. Corley was just bein Corley , throwin clean crisp short punches that as a south paw are hard to pick up on. Ndou was forced to fight very sloppy cause he couldnt change his game, h elooked tired as hell in that round. Hatton has a style all his own and as he himself said " If I can close that gap the fights is mine on the inside" this because he truly does smother offense, yeah it is a sort of holding but he breaks quickly and in an odd off rhythm to throw his own punches. He has a chance but we will all know after a few rounds what that means.
We will see in the first round whether or not Hatton can win this fight.
Why would the first round show you if he can win the fight thats just stupid, i mean alot of fighters start late in fights and win
This is in Hattons favour because he wont quit and shouldn`t gas out like Oscar did.
this is also a bit thick, i mean hatton gassed out in the 2 of his last 3 fights, not as bad as oscar did but was still gassed and didnt have a high level of punch output
Hatton may have only fought twice outside of the UK but Mayweather has never fought outside of the US to my knowledge.
I dont think Floyd had the power to KO Hatton from one punch, but it will be an accumulation of punches.
We will see in the first round whether or not Hatton can win this fight.
If he can successfully bully Floyd and get his body shots off, he has a good chance of winning. If he can`t get on the inside and cut the ring off then he'll be eating a lot of punches and will lose a decision or get stopped late.
This could go either way.
Floyd hasn`t been fighting real fighters for a while now and most of his opponents have been hand picked.
This is in Hattons favour because he wont quit and shouldn`t gas out like Oscar did.
I'd make Mayweather a slight favourite but Hatton can win if he imposes himself and turns the fight into a war. But he has to cut the ring off and hunt Mayweathers body for 12 rounds, then he could stop Mayweather late on. It will be a though night tough.
you have to remeber, floyd decideds when he wants to stand and trade, if he wants to run all day he will, if he wants to fight all nite he will, ricky doesnt smother, he hooks n holds as was said on hbo the other day
Boringggggggg

Hatton was crap in a few of his last fights....I'm not going over the old ground but against what he percieves as quality opposition Hatton puts on his best performances.....
I still have PBF as a favourite against Hatton...purely becasue i think he will pick Hatton off coming in and then move away without Hatton gettting his shots off..
I was merely stating that Hatton inside against PBF is by far his best..(and only) option and if PBF does decide to stay up close...Hatton will do what he did against Castillo...
Hatton is very mobile inside . constantly looking for the angles and doing a touch of spoiling whilst looking to get more shots off and swichting .....Hatton will be in the most detremined and best shape of his life.. (weight allowing)....
PBF could seriously come unstuck ..if he stays close..
He will not be used to the physical manhandling , and manouvering around the sides , multiple shots and constant pressure hatton would bring...
Hatton is better on the inside than PBF...(when he's on song..which he will be)
Okay, we will see, because i think Hatton may end up chasing shadows this november, but who knows, maybe hatton can win, i'll be honest, as long as mayweather is healthy and prime, i think hatton has a slim chance.
please people.
mayweather will beat him if its on the inside outside, backside or wherever else.he is FAR too skilled, smart slick and fast. I don't even expect the fight to be close as hatton gets his ears boxed off, grows more desperate and frustrated attempts to charge which only adds to his problems. honestly, theres no way hatton will win, and all the hype in the world won't convince me this is anything but a mismatch.
The liver shot Hatton put Castillo away with would put Mayweather away, infighting Hatton would be too strong for Mayweather thats why Mayweather will try and keep him at range but he wont be able to sucessfully and will get drawn into a war that Hatton will win.
The Mayweather that will be fighting Hatton is not the Castillo that fought him. Castillo looked like he was wearing a suit of armor cuz he sure couldn't move. Floyd will not get hit with that shot and he sure as hell wouldn't take a knee and let the ref count him out. You Hatton fans are in for a rude awakening when this fight happens.

I think you guys are underestimating Floyd's ability to take a punch and give one. If DLH didn't hurt Floyd enough to rattle him at any point during their fight niether will Hatton. Also, Floyd might not have one-punch KO power, but he's going to hit Hatton so often that eventually Ricky is going to be feeling the punches more and more. I know some of you guys love Hatton or hate PBF, but lets be realistic. The chances of Hatton beating Floyd on the scorecards are slim to none and nobody has ever come close to KOing Floyd. There is not a "good chance", as some of you like to say, of Hatton winning this fight. Its a very remote chance.
Hatton's one punch can't hurt Floyd, although maybe a liver shot, don't know.
I am a bit worried about who the ref would be: Hatton's ref allowed the rabbit punching, testicle shots, and grappling. The Calzaghe ref (and no fault to Joe since Joe didn't seem to understand why it was stopped either), the ref stopped the fight early against his last opponent.
I could see it now, if Floyd gets hurt a bit, covers up, the fight will be waived off. For example: remember how Floyd was hurt against Corley, that fight may be stopped if it is in England with a Hatton ref.
And guess what, Ricky "No REMATCH" Hatton will not give the fans a second fight.
Hmmm, maybe I should make a new thread for this, who should ref the fight.
I favor Smoger: although he is "American" he seems to be the fairest ref I know. I don't know to many outside of the U.S., so if anybody else has suggestions, suggest...
Are you telling me you think PBF should fight on the inside...?
Hatton is going to walk through shots to get to the inside to get to work...do you think PBF can seriously hurt Hatton on the inside..I can't see it..
so why would he be there.
If you think Hatton can't hurt Floyd on the inside... I think your seriosly mistaken..
That is how he could lose the fight.....to Hatton's work rate.....which he still has it..his combinations and body shots whilst making the angles..
If he sits there he will lose..
If Mayweather continues to leave his body open and allows Ricky to tee-off like Oscar got to, despite Oscar greater power, in the long run Hatton may end up hurting Floyd.
Floyd needs to get himself back to his old self, if he does that, Hatton is getting a beating, especially if Hatton has to "box" and is not allowed to grapple.

Im telling Floyd can hurt hatton very badly on the inside, you whole theory rests on mayweather leaving himself wide open, but if you have seen mayweather in the pocket, you would know he is in a defensive shell to protect himself, whilst throwing power shot counters, come on dude, Collzao hung with hatton at 147 so the idea that mayweather will lose if he does the same are not the case, Hatton will have to mix it up and confuse mayweather by doing exactly what mayweaher is not expecting, how i will detail in another thread in time if i get the chance.
Mayweather would have 2/3 months to prepare for hatton rushing him, lol, thats more than enough,
Once again, if he doesnt change his tactics, it could get bad,, because right now,
Team Mayweather know EXACTLY what he is gonna do, and that rush in head first, its a one dimentional tactic which is highly unlikely to beat floyd, who loves fighing on the backfoot,
But keep your opinion, im telling you if hatton cant get to him inside two rounds, it could get really bad,
Mayweather knows exactly whats coming, and im telling you he has already prepare himself for the holding, hitting and rushing which hatton would probably do.
Hatton's only chance is
1) Floyd having an off night
2) Hatton doing something floyd doesnt expect.
Floyd cannot fight against Hatton like he did against those two guys there. Floyd never looked in trouble to me despite the cluster of punches each of them were throwing, neither of them were any good at fighting inside. Long loopey hooks to the head are the wrong idea cos Floyd just rolls back and lets them glance him on one side, or blocks them with his glove on the other side. Neither of those guys are moving, they arent creating angles, they are just throwing sloppy looking slow power-punches to the head and soft jabs time after time again.
Anyone that thinks Hatton would do this is kidding themselves. First of all, there's no way he'd stay square on, so he'd be nowhere near as open to the counter-punching pot-shots that Mayweather hits. There is no way that he'd focus his attack to the head. There is no way that he'd have to throwing looping punches to generate power. There is no way that he'd fight head-on like that, he'd be moving, creating angles, trying to expose the defence. There is also NO WAY that Hatton would be as fucked as those two guys less than half-way through the fight. His work-rate, even if he had been peppering PBF all round for 5 rounds, would allow him to still be in much better shape than those guys, throwing more short hooks to the body, more jabs followed by quick uppercuts.
I'm not saying that Hatton will beat PBF. I'm just saying that if he gets inside (or Floyd lets him get inside like he seemed to there for some reason), he'll have a damn sight more success than those guys had.
