...so that he can fight Steve Cunningham, the WBC will probably ask David Haye to fight for the vacant title against Matt Godfrey.
Would there be any point in Haye killing himself to get back down to CW to fight for a vacant (although prestigous) belt, or would he be better off staying at HW.
The way I see it, coming down to cruiserweight and winning the undisputed championship against a name boxer would be a great boost to his future HW career. But should he bother if he can't fight Mormeck or Bell for the title?
The point of haye moving up to heavyweight is to stay active and also that is his natural weight. He wants to be the champion of the cruiserweight division before he moves up, which i think is fair enough he wants the glory of all the fights hes fought so far. I predict haye will do some damage in the heavyweight division, i can't wait.
I find the whole David Haye situation bizarre. I have no idea why he moved up in weight and has now come back down for a fight only to go back up again after it.
I totally agree all i can asume is that he fought at heavy so he was staying active and not really having to worry about making the weight while at the same time testing the waters at heavyweight.
As far as going back to fight at crusierweight to fight for a vacant title , that would really be a step backward. A fight with Mormeck is a big fight a fight against a total unknown for a vacant title doesnt make scense.
If he can't fight the RING champ at that weight then there's no point really. I guess being classed as a Cruiserweight champion moving up to Heavyweight would give him more "oumph" up at Heavyweight, make him alot more marketable and an attractive proposition for American TV.
