doesn't mean it's a lock but if hatton fights w/ non stop pressure like castillo did 4-5 yrs ago in castillo-pbf 1, ricky can beat pbf.....
getting on top of pbf & apply constant pressure i think is the way to take him out of his game. the few times i saw him have trouble (& even get a little shook by sharmba....he admitted after the fight sharmba shook him a bit) was when he was forced to plant his feet & open up a bit....
castillo in the first fight didn't let pbf set up or breath for the most part & argueably beat pbf....
now we all know before the fight PBf is going to talk a world of crap & when the bell rings he isn't going to do half of what he says ....i said 1000x his style is to be safe & fight not to lose....BUT TO BE FARE.....as hard as hatton works in the ring, sometimes i feel like i am watching Monday Night RAW w/ all the wrestling going on.....so we have a pot shot runner & a wrestler, could be a boring fight w/ spurts of excitement if you ask me, lol
if.....IF.....hatton forces the action & pressure like castillo 1..... wouldn't be surprised if he won
By the way i have to admit hitting & holding is as bad as hitting & running.....in a way there both not exactly fan friendly or fare to guys that COME TO WIN & Come To Fight.....
i think your overrating mayweathers power. at 147 he has only knocked out mitchell who was shot. he never hurt judah or baldomir or dlh. he left his power at 135. mayweather fears pressure and thats why hes ducked fighters like hatton and margarito the last few years.
Judah's face, Baldomir's face both tell the story about their fights. And you have to understand, at the upper levels of boxing knockouts are harder to come by. Did Hatton KO urango? Did he KO Collazo? No, none of that shit matters.
Im not overrating mayweathers power at all, when do i mention "knockout" i have watched enough boxing to know, BOXING, not just exciting documented fights, to know that when a pressure fighter constantly gets hit with accurate pin point punches, even if hes not being stumbled by them, it can frustrate you. Chavez got frustrated against a light punching whitaker, do you understand what im trying to tell you as opposed to striking bullshit comparisons that have nothing to do with what my original point was?
I say Hatton has a chance.
I don't want to retype what I already said earlier today, so here it goes
----------------
First half of the fight, DLH was doing an OK job with his aggression.. He than tired out and abandoned the jab and everything else...
Hatton has an AMAZING work rate.. Tszyu could not keep up with him (yes an older Tszyu, but still, this is the man who ruled the division for a decade.. and had a crazy training regiment)
Hatton CAN and will apply pressure for full 12 rounds.. he throws restless and non-stop.. he can and will get inside Mayweather.. where Mayweather will be outwrestled.. and hit plenty form different angles..
IMO... while DLH is over the hill, Hatton has a good chance...
hatton moves his head and tries to avoid shots. he doesnt just barrel in. but he will take a few to give a few back.
....Hattons head movement is the same as Chavez, which is why i referenced the fight. Hatton doesnt provide different angles, he walks right in, he throws punches from different angles to find openings, but head movement? come on.
Hatton could make it a very ugly fight against Mayweather and win with his punch and hold style, but I think Floyd would use his feet and stay out of those holds, but if Hatton did it effectively and kept the pressure on Floyd than maybe, but in the end I don't know if he could.
hatton has good speed and he will eat every single punch mayweather throws just to get him on the ropes. he has no reason to fear mayweathers power. hatton has a good shot if the fight happens. if he cant pin mayweather to the ropes he has no hope.
Eating flush accurate punches will always ruin your gameplan, im sure Julio Cesar Chavez thought he would just walk through all of Whitaker's shots with ease and pound his body, and he found out the hard way just how hard it is to do that.
I say Mayweather will still win the fight by a split decision. Yeah Hatton will try to pressure but floyd will just use his quickness to get away. Its frustrating how floyd hardly engages but he'll probably just steal the fight away. Floyd knows that his power is not much of a factor at WW so he'll fight careful just like he did Baldomir and Judah. Floyd will just slide with a win without putting up much of a brawl like he did with De La Hoya
Why do people keep on mentioning the first Castillo fight, as if Mayweather is the same fighter back then.
A) Floyd just turned 24 years old. He's a lot more experienced and a lot smarter in the ring then when he was back then. Also, he's just flat out better.
B) He fought the entire fight with a torn shoulder rotator cuff.
No mentions of how the rematch went, however? You know, when Floyd was actually healthy.
You guys seriously underrate PBFs pop. He doesn't knoxk people out at WW and above because he fights safety first. He wobbled DLH quite a few times, nearly stopped Judah, and stopped Mitchell. I'm unsure whether Hatton will be able to apply effective pressure to someone as fleetfooted as floyd. hatton is no gatti (that comparison is shite), but is he quick enough to throw a lead jab or hook and get close to floyd before he's been pot shotted and PBF gets away, bagging the rounds in the process and busting Ricky up. I'm not sure.

Yeah, because Luis Collazo is the Earnie Shavers of the WW division and he walked right through all of his punches, right?
