One Thing People Are Forgetting About Cotto

Nobody even mentioned Mayweather. In fact most of the Cotto fans, including myself agree that Mayweather would probably beat Cotto. That doesnt mean he wouldnt have the fight of his life though. I don't agree. I think Cotto would be to Judah what Duran was to Leonard.

The people who criticized him at 140 would all say mostly the same thing. He's winning because he's flat out too big for these guys and he would have trouble at 147. He's already shown a suspect chin at 140 and it will be worst at 147. Now he's at 147 and guys are sweating him but its still the same exact thing. So far he has only beaten Zab, Quintana, & Urkal. Those guys are all basically 3 140 pounders. Quintana is the only one who has been at 147 but he's not a big guy. Cotto still is just physically beating up on smaller guys. Im telling you that if he gets into the ring with Margarito, Clottey, Baldy, Cintron, or Mosley then he's going to be in for a shock. He will not just physically overpwer those guys and you could argure that there all stronger then him. All those guys are huge & tough. I really think people should still wait to jump on that Cotto bandwagon. People also said Floyd hasnt faced a real WW but he changed all that by beating Oscar at 154. In his next fight Cotto will finally face a guy who he isnt flat out much bigger or stronger then. It will be a shock to his system. I cant believe everyone thinks he will beat Margarito now. Imagine going from guys like Zab & Urkal right to Margarito. Now your in with a nearly 6ft monster who also weighs like a Middleweight and hits like a truck. That is not going to be easy like people think. Cotto's shit wont hurt him at all and Margarito's shots should punish Cotto if youve followed his career. Cotto cant hurt these big guys like Clottey or these straight physical guys like Mosley who have crazy strength & power. Its a huge difference. Cotto is use to guys running from him but these guys will be coming right at him and even pushing him back alot of times. Its like Tito at 160. He looks impressive beating those guys who werent real Middleweights but then he ran up on Hopkins and looked like a boy against a man. Its just a totally different fight when you go up against someone like that. Thats what people have to understand. Tyson physically whooped everyone but when he met his match physically, he couldnt win. He's use to hitting guys who run from him and he's use to hearing guys scream and cover up when he hits them. What happeneds when he hits those big guys and it doesnt effect them at all? What is he going to do when he hits them and they wont stop in there tracks? What will he do when he hits them and they walk right through his shots and come back with bombs and fast combos? Physically Cotto will be in for a shock and I wouldnt be surprised to see Margarito pull a Cintron on Cotto. Dont get me wrong, Williams may beat Margarito. I love Williams and I kind of want him to beat a ton of people but a Margarito-Cotto fight would be excellent. Cotto could stilll win but he will have to go through hell to do it and he may never be the same after it. I also think think Clottey woulld killl him. The bottom line is that Cotto still hasnt faced a real WW and still hasnt faced a fighter who is his equal or even greater in terms of physicality and I want to see how he deals with that part. The difference between a guy like Floyd & Cotto is that Floyd is a boxer anyway so it doesnt matter that much. He's use to being the small guy and he knows what he has to do to neturalize that no matter how big his opponent is because he's done it his whole life. Cotto on the other hand is use to being the bigger guy. He also is a straight forward power fighter who depends on being the stronger guy and being able to overwhelm you. If he cant just physically beat these guys down then is he the same fighter? He is a solid boxer but does he have the overall speed & boxing skill to handle these guys if they are overpowering him? One thing for sure is that it will be different then anything he's ever had to do in his career. He has more overall skills then Tito but it still might not be enough. The thing is that the WW division is so good that Cotto could be a real stud and still lose. It doesnt mean you suck. These guys are just really good and big. If he loses to a Floyd, Mosley, Clottey, or Margarito, does that mean you are garbage? I dont think so. The fact is that all these guys are good and someone has to lose man get the fuck outa here! Quintana was not a natural jr welter. Its funny, when you were jock riding Mayweather you were talking up Zab as the linear welter weight champ. He carried his power, is deceptively quick handed, and has highly underated movement. Why do you think Zab, who was in awesome condition and has some of the fastest foot movement out there could not avoid him? Look the guy continues to crush his opponents and provide foty candidates most every time he steps in the ring so regardless of who he fights you know your gonna get a barn burner. I personally think Margarito will be one of his easier fights, Cotto seems to deal with tall fighters well. MArgarito is slow we all saw this against Clottey, I also think he is too big for this division and sucking down to 147 is very hard for him Cotto will have a lot more opportunuties to attack that body without having to worry about sharp fast counters ala Zab. Cotto will beat him by late stoppage or UD. Cintron: Here's the top candidate IMO for folding under the type of pressure Cotto would put on him, Stoppage middle rounds, Clottey may be a tough fight for Cotto or anyone at Welter weight but I think he too has seen his last fights at welterweight. So that leaves Shane, He's just a tough scrap for anybody at welterweight and would be Cotto's toughest challenge. Half the fun is waiting to see what happens next.

I don't know why people started a "Floyd is ducking Margarito" campaign a year or so ago, Margarito has 0 chance of beating Floyd, his punches are too wide, slow, and looping to even hit Floyd. If he gets to hit Floyd with more than 5 power punches throughout 12 rounds I'd be schocked.

finally someone said it... props. Im a huge Cotto fan but he wont be able to beat the bigger welters unless he fights a perfect fight. Since hes likes to trade shots and will have to to win i dont see him coming out on top. I agree he will have to fight the perfect fight!!! Which i think he is able to do!!! Illustrate yourself first: In the bodybuilding world Cotto is an endomorph, a naturally big boned guy. He used to be fat when he was little so he took up boxing to shed the weight but he's just a big guy by trait because of his body composition. He'll still be bigger man against most of the guys at 147, he has the wide shoulders and big back.

No matter what Cotto is respected!!!! One thing I have notice with Cotto is that he respects people all around him granted he may not be the one to confront you first but he does respect those who come in contact him. LOL Mayweather is 30 years now. In 2 he will be past his prime in 32. You would like THEN (but not now of course) to have cotto fight floyd and IF (because even at 32 i think mayweather would kill cotto) he wins you'd say cotto is the greatest of all time.
