his last 2 loses were against baldomir and mayweather, he would lose too both at any point in his career, mayweather is too good, baldomir too big, so my question too you all his how do you know gatti is washed up? he didnt really look that bad vs baldomir, its just baldomir size got to him
first off, Gatti was TKO'd in his last 2 fights, not KO'd. There is a big difference. Secondly, Gatti and his 'team' chose the stupidest strategy to try and box mayweather and he didnt even land a punch, he should have absorbed mayweathers shots and at least gotten some power shots in..so I didnt think that fight really showed anything except bad prep and planning...he also said he practically had to kill himself to make weight for the mayweather fight and was satisfied getting that alone.
I dont know about the baldomir fight, I mean in his last interview he said things blew up with McGirt midway into training for that fight and that things got all f'd up with his girlfriend and their family too..so he had a lot of distractions and said he didnt even want to fight but couldnt back out. I dont want to make excuses though because he got beat bad by baldomir but he did have distractions.
However, he did comeback and beat Thomas Daamgard not to long ago in convincing fashion (after the mayweather loss i believe) so I think we will really see if Gatti is shot in this fight against Gomez...but after watching Chavez Jr last weekend I would love to see Gatti vs. Chavez Jr. so Im obv pulling for Gatti to beat Gomez.
TKO, KO....Both mean you got the crap kicked out of you.

the mayweather that blew gatti away would blow any versino of gatti away, thats what you all fail to realize, mayweather is an all time great
I never said that there ever existed a version of gatti that could stand up to mayweather.
However, Getting KO'd twice in a row, in a career in which he has taken ALL KINDS of punishment (even in victory!), suggests that he should really call it quits. I'm not even sure if he can MAKE 140 anymore. He sure shouldn't be fighting at 147.
He didn't just LOSE. He lost By KO TWICE in a row. At his age, that's is not indicative of good things to come.
I got to mostly diagree with you. Baldomir has average power and as you acknowledge Judah's chin is questionable. Yes he rocked Judah but he didn't finish him. Gatti defnitely landed punches but Baldomir's talent is being able to take punishment to deliver so its no big accomplishment to land a punch on him. In Gatti's fight against Mayweather (someone with good defense) I have never seen a title caliber fighter land fewer punches. I don't know how you define washed up but he is definitely over the hill and shouldn't fight anybody that can remotely punch.

I wouldn't trivialize Baldomir's power. He almost had Judah out (not that that is a feat or anything). But Judah didn't know where the hell he was in the 7th round. Gatti is always the tough guy, always pushing the fight, but he couldn't with Baldomir, simply because Baldomir was too strong, too tough, and far too chinny. I don't think Gatti is washed up, but he certainly is past his prime. Baldomir was just too much for Gatti at this point. Not that Baldomir is young or anything, he was just way too much. Gatti looked good against Baldomir and landed good punches, so if we are to judge him by his last fight, I'd say he did well, despite his situation.

Wasn't McGirt in his corner for the Mayweather fight? And common sense doesn't tell me anything of the sort. Carlos Baldomir couldn't KO Zab Judah and if I have a choice between a prime Gatti's chin and Judah's chin I think I'll choose Gatti's chin. I understand that it is sad when a fighter sort of fades before your eyes but its happening.

bad management, because he would have lost to both any point in his career, i dont know what gatti's people were thinking letting him fight baldomir and judah didnt beat baldomir conviclingly and baldomir is a big welterweight...gatti's people should have had him fight mark suarez

He may not have beaten either one of them at any point in his career...but look at the way he lost. I have NEVER seen a fight as one sided as Gatti-Mayweather (at championship level). And Baldomir may have beaten him but he would not have KO'd a prime Gatti. Baldomir is a light puncher by anyone's standards and Gatti used to have a good chin. Furthermore Gatti may have been able to box his way to a victory against Baldomir a la Tracy Patterson in his prime. Now he IS washed up and I think Gomez gives him a tough fight.
use common sense moron, its a difference between taking punches from guys who weigh 142 on fight and a guy who's coming in at 165 and walks around at 185 like baldomir, gatti was a better fighter with mcgurt
