Does Roy jones still have the ability to be able to claim another world title? What do the guys on this message board think about jones chances against the likes of say calzaghe at super middle, against champions at light heavy or heavyweight?
Personally i think he can deffinatly give it a very strong push, i think his talent is extremely natural in a sense of his athletisim and speed. Of course the speed has declined due to age and his jaw aint the strongest. However its undeniable that mr jones has skills that can outpoint many of the boxers who would stand in his way to a world title. MR jones, i got full faith in you
but bro, roy jones may be a slower fighter than he was, but he still holds more speed and agility then most of the fighters within this league. its like the statement of 50% of tyson would blow away any of heavyweight title holders today. 50% of roy jones would mean chad dawson being outboxed.
Yeah he definitley still has some of his former self left and that showed against Ajamu.
Yes yes he can......somewhere.
Even a 40% Roy is better than hundreds if not thousands of professional fighters who are fringe title holders, contenders or others who would be mentioned in the same breath as "title".
Greatest fighter of our generation.
Run, what about Roy taking a punch? I think thats the main problem, I think he still has enough speed and and great body punching to beat some fighters out there.
Jack, as much as I want to think that won't happen, I know your probably right. Now that Roy's reflexes are alot slower(even slower now I would think because now hes 38) he has an increased chance of getting knocked out.

Soon as he gets hit with something good, good night.

Of course he can do it. whoever says no is a hater. Tarver just had that style. Everybody has their Kryptonite. I don't think Hanshaw has a good chance of winning though. He's still faster than most fighters in any weightclass.

I don't know why, but I have a strong feeling he can beat Winky if he has a belt. At this point in his career, he needs to fight someone without much power.
of course he can, is roy jones !
hes old and shit, but come on he have that natural talent and speed , that dont even that hes old hes as fast as most of those midlewights and even more than those HW "champs"....
I may be the biggest RJj fan out and if ya'll seen the Ajamu fight, RJj fought a totally different style. jabs...alot of body work. No check-hooks and right hand leads. I have all of his fights and cant remember when I saw him fight like that.
I wanna see his next fight before I can say whether or not hes still got it.
I'd still pick Roy to beat Zsolt Erdei and Clinton Woods for any of those two ABC belts. non of those would be big fights however, would he have motivation for those two? A fight with Dawson or a long awaited rematch with Hopkins would get his juices going.
Yes because styles make fights and Tarver was all wrong for RJJ. He is still very fast and has great reflexes just not that killer instint anymore i still would favor him over most fighters though, so yes he could be champ again.
but come on zero, if he takes on the likes of chagvev at heavyweight or any other bum champion, or any of the light heavyweight bum champions, he can outpoint them surley, he has enough skill to do it.
True, but even then , as they might still be bums, they are the champs. RJJ seems a lot more gun shy and I think when he comes in against someone who isn't scared of him and bully's him, he is done. He may be able to outpoint them, but I honestly doubt it. He hasn't looked spectacular in a long time, and I don't think RJJ has it in him to ressurect the old magic. Believe me, I would love to see him do it, but I think realistically, he's finished.
