I know this is a bit premature, but lets assume Hatton wins.. and wins convincingly.
This is fight must be made. Two undefeated guys on top of their game and both in their prime.
I think their styles are made for the fight of the decade. This will be such a brawl.
Big question, Who wins??? :boxing:
Despite one knock down in his career, Hatton only had problems with Collazo.. Cotto also had times when he was in trouble in the passed, but always bounced back..
why is it only guys from the UK think Hatton would stop Cotto? I'm from the states and pick Cotto by TKO. Cotto is too strong for Hatton.
Wake up UK sweathogs.
a well prepared fighter gives a better performance than a shit prepared fighter. so adding 7 pounds most likely affected him in some way. maybe it meant he had to eat more and thus spent more time in the toiler than the gym?
Your possibly right......I'll have to look more closely when I get a chance. I was working from memory and I just recalled that Hatton's faced almost always looked very puffy and swollen during the interviews.
That's just how he looks, the ugly little mofo.
Nah, he does get a bit puffy but not really in critical areas. It's more around his cheek bones and I've never seen it to the point where it would impare his vision.
It would be a spectacular matchup, but I think if Castillo comes with his A game against Hatton, he will win. Castillo v Cotto would also be a great matchup.
TBH I can't really recall him ever suffering bad swelling during a fight, he usually just gets cut to shit. Doesn't mean it can't happen but he usually doesn't swell up until afterwards.

Tszyu hits harder than any of the current welters, and by some distance.
I'll reserve judgement on Hatton's effectiveness at the weight until I see him perform with a decent preparation under his belt.
Maybe he should have gone for a washed up LWW for his 1st fight at the weight - he wouldn't have gotten so much grief.
Not sure i agree, we never saw Tszyu's power at Welter or how it would effect a 147 lb fighter so his power at this weight and it's effects on bigger fighter's is still unknown.
After looking at the first 8 rounds on the AVI i have of the Tszyu fight, pretty much every round starts off with a fucking clinch, ONLY in round 5 does Tszyu land a partially blocked right hook and is then held afterwards. Every time im fastfowarding to get to the start of each round, all im saying is clinch after fucking clinch, what a weak ass fight, the only way you could be a superstar from a fight like that is if you are the darling child of your own country. Holding and holding and holding your way to victory is not fucking imrpessive, period.
Either way, i have seen, or..tortured myself through this fight 3 times, Tszyu never lands his right hand flush after setting his feet, unless someone shows me a freezeframe otherwise.
Can't help you mate - I lost my copy when my hard drive failed. Can't remember exactly when it was but in 1 instance Tszyu caught him with a peach, Hatton paused for a second, clenched his fists and flew straight back at him.
Not sure what you're looking at but for most of the middle rounds both fighters came flying out of their corners and launched big rights at eachother.
It would be a great fight!! IMO Cotto is TOO big for Mr. Hatton. I think it could be close earlier with both fighting toe 2 toe, but once Ricky feels Cotto's punches (IMO) he wont fight up close in the clinches anymore & will have to resort to boxing. With that being said i think the non stop pressure & body work would slow Richard down late in the fight & stop him!!!! Cotto TKO 10 :boxing:
I'm not talking about referee stoppage. I mean that once that eye is closed its all downhill. With the left eye closed he wont be able to see Cotto's left coming and the left is Cotto's power punch. We all the punches dont see hurt more than the ones you do see. Cotto's left will hurt Hatton more because he wont see them coming and Hatton will be KO'd or TKO'd IMO.

This is exactly what happned to zab.
It's certainly a possibility but it depends on the referee. Hatton's fought on and won convincingly with his face in an absolute mess on several occasions. He's used to it and it doesn't faze him in the slightest.

Cotto will knock the guiness out of Hatton....Not even a challenge it would be a sad brutal one dised afair. And Hatton doesn't fight with the same workrate all 12 rounds. He only fights the first 4-5 rounds like that then he pops a few viagra pills a fucks his opponent to death... Cotto by 5 round KO

However, Hatton is notorious for swelling and cutting and Cotto is notorious for damaging guys faces. Its not a good mix for Hatton who I think would have his eye closed by round 5-6.

Tsyzu probably hit as hard as the current welters, maybe harder. But he never caught Hatton with his signature right hand in their fight. Hatton was on top of him the whole night and Tsyzu was unable to get the right distance to get full leverage on that punch. If Hatton couldn't handle a flush shot from Collazo, there's no way in hell he stays up from one of Tsyzu's best punches...
If the same shots were landed by Cotto instead of Collazo, Hatton would have been on queer street...
I doubt that, if Tsyzu couldnt knock him and lets be right Tsyzu did catch Hatton would some good shots, then I dont see how Cotto knocks him out.
Hatton hurt Collazo more times then Collazo hurt Hatton.
How many times do I have to tell you that it doesn't matter? If you cannot hit your opponent punching power is worthless. We can say "what if" and debate this till the cows come home. Point is, we havent seen Cotto in with Hatton...and we have only seen Hatton visibly stunned once.
There isn't a big IF with the Cotto-Hatton though. Hatton WILL be hit. Cotto is not Tzu. Hatton can't smother Cotto and take away his power. The inside game is Cotto's kitchen and Hatton will have to take in order to give.
Hatton is not PBF and Cotto will hit him.
