I am taking all the attributes of Heavyweights to make the perfect fighter imo.
Gene Tunneys Itelligence in the ring.
Ali's footwork.
Dempseys Ferciousness
Marcianos fighting spirit.
Holmes Jab
Shavers right hand
Tex Cobbs Chin
Fraziers Left Hook
Ken Nortons Physique and conditioning.
Bowe's Uppercut
Louis's combination punching
Tommy Morrison Pigment (to sell tickets)
Lewis Amateur backgroud.
Jack Johnsons Defense
You didnt even mention a Tyson attribute in yours. damn:lol1:
I probably should have, I love Mike but his tendancy to be intimidated cannot be overlooked. Maybe his combination punching was the best at one time.
Perfect Heavyweight boxer would have
Johnsons ability to capitalise on opponents mistakes
Dempseys ferocity
Louis's punching accuracy
Marcianos heart/determination
Alis chin
Tysons power and handspeed
i think as far as body build goes, lennox lewis early-mid career was a great specimen. broad shoulders, strong base, w/ a trim waistline. lots of guys who are that tall just don't have the frame to naturally hold that much weight, they either look too bulky or just flabby. example, shannon briggs is just about the same height as lewis, but even when he weighed in at a relatively low 230lbs, the guy looked over-muscled. all the way up to 238 for the mccall fight, lewis still looked lean, cut, and well-proportioned.
Chuvalo's Chin
James Toney counterpunching and D.
Valuevs size
Shavers Power
Ali hand and footspeed
Frazier conditioning
Holys heart.
Toney's defense is very poor against fast guys who circles him, because his footwork was never the best in this dicipline. Ali for exampe would rip him apart.
His counterpunching often relied on taking a shot to the back, rip, shoulder instead of evading.
I take Mayweather in this part, their defense style is similar but pretty boy got the better feet.
Better still, why not try it with the current heavies and see if we can make a boxer who could compete in another era
I'll start - Tua's chin.......
Holy's heart......
My perfect hw:
Valuev's size
Foreman's punching power
Ali's speed and ring skills
Holyfield's endurance and heart
That's all you need for the perfect hw; he'd be unstoppable...
You have to strut like one of the guys in my sig too. Doesn't matter which.
I can admit Wlad is the best offensively gifted fighter I have ever seen. The Intangibles are lacking though.
Tyson's uppercuts.
Tyson's finishing skills.
Louis's combinations.
Chuvalo's chin.
Ali's footspeed and ability to absorb body shots.
Frazier's left hook, bodypunching, and stamina.
Valuev's size.
Patterson's hand speed.
Foreman's raw power.
Lewis's right cross.
Shavers's overhand right.
Holmes's jab.
Marciano's will and ability to fight through pain, cuts, etc...
Young's defense.
I like your list better, especially the Jimmy Young defense part.
Tyson's uppercuts.
Tyson's finishing skills.
Louis's combinations.
Chuvalo's chin.
Ali's footspeed and ability to absorb body shots.
Frazier's left hook, bodypunching, and stamina.
Valuev's size.
Patterson's hand speed.
Foreman's raw power.
Lewis's right cross.
Shavers's overhand right.
Holmes's jab.
Marciano's will and ability to fight through pain, cuts, etc...
Young's defense.
Mercer's chin Morrison's looks, power and toughness, Lewis's size and athletic ability. Ali's Speed
Mercers chin is overrated imo. Cobb took Shavers bomb until Shavers was just tired of hitting him and got stopped. Holyfield could never drop Cobb.
Valuev with Mayweather's speed, defense and especially the shoulder roll would be funny. Imagine a smaller guy who tries to hit him while he bends back.^^
