Just curious. He says he wants to be the #1 P4P fighter by beating Mayweather Jr. and whatnot. Yet he goes up to 147lbs, obviously couldn't hack it, drops back down. Now P4P means to some that 1 fighter in 1 weight class has the style to beat anyone in another weight class. Or to others it means, a fighter actually DOES go up and down the scales beating people up. Now let's talk about a fighter actually going up and down. Ricky obviously is at his set weight class at 140lbs cause he can't go up it seems. Does this make him uneligible to be true P4P material? :nonono:
Since skill doesn't dictate everything, I think Hatton could be right around anyone's 9 or 10 slot in a pound for pound list.
To answer your question, if all of these guys were the same size, I could see Hatton stylistically beating guys like JM Marquez, Zab Judah, and Wladimir Klitschko. Klitschko is obviously skilled, but he's also (partially) a product of his disgusting advantages in sheer size and length. If he were smaller I can't say that he'd be capable of fighting like he does. Judah has shown that he has trouble with his focus down the stretch of fights. He'd have problems with a tough guy like Hatton who would mug him and would be able to take some of the initial punishment Zab had to dish out. Marquez likes to counter, likes to box from the outside. Hatton doesn't like to give his opponents room has a pretty solid work rate. That'd be a good fight as I could see both guys hitting each other a lot.
Anywho, I'm not even saying he's among the top 5/6/7 fighters in the sport, but he has accomplished a good deal and he's undefeated with no single fighter who has matched him in his best weight class.
I could have also added Winky Wright and Bernard hopkins to that list also,
Skill for skill i dont see how you think hatton takes Marquez, marquez is technically on another level to hatton, can box and bang, hits hard, so p4p i lean towards marquez.
Judah vs Hatton p4p is judah all the way, hatton admits himself he doesnt like fighting southpaws, and if a fighter like collzao can give him trouble stylistically, judah would give him hell, he is faster, more powerful and more skilled.
Anways i respect your opinion, im not saying hatton is a bum, but he isnt one of the 10 best fighters in the world.
And to answer a comment made above, its not my view on pound for pound, it is the correct view on pound for pound, but its meaning has been twisted to include factor like moving up in weight etc.
The nature of the term itself, 'pound for pound' refers to an evening up of the attributes affected by weight, in essence by disregarding them.
p4p is too subjective to me if you do it via skill and physical abilities...so I just go for who has accomplished the most.

If we go on the true meaning of pound for pound, the best fighters in the world when the attributes are not affected by weight, basically skill for skill where weight plays no factor in the outcome of a fight.
Is ricky hatton better than the following ten fighters?
Oscar De La Hoya
Shane Mosley
Miguel Cotto
Zab Judah
Floyd Mayweather
Joe Calzaghe
Rafael Marquez
Juan Manuel Marquez
Manny Pacquiao
Wladimir Klitschko

TS, stop imposing your view of P4P on everyone else.
Judah has a loss to Baldomir - what else is there to say
Oscar needs to win the first 7 rounds of every fight he's in now cos he's got less stamina than Hatton after a night on the kebabs
Shane - one quality win and he'll be back in there no doubt.
JMM - v good fighter but don't forget his non-performance against Chris John, recently.
Wlad - well we don't usually include heavies in P4P, but sure, he's up there if you did.
I think Hatton can talk p4p. The guy has beaten a Tszyu, Collazo, Maussa, Urango and Oliveira in his last 5...which isn't anything special but those guys were fair overall. You have to give him credit for being undefeated, for being a 2 time Jr. Welter champ and for holding a strap at 147. I had him beating Collazo by a hair...114-113...edging the fight because of the knockdown.
I don't think it's a crime to have Ricky just inside your list of the 10 best fighters in the sport. He doesn't currently have an equal at his natural weight...we'll see if hes still got it when he fights a tough hombre in Castillo.

He won by the knockdown? So you gave each fighter 6 rounds? That doesn't sound like a comfortable win for Hatton, as you said. Hatton took the worst beating of his life in that fight. He was about to go down in the 12th round and had to hold to stay up.
This is how he looked at the post fight press conference:
Does this not look like a fighter who got his ass whooped?
Hatton has looked a lot worse, he breaks up easy so.....at least he has the balls to come out and show his face.

No. I had Hatton winning 7 and Collazo 5. I mean that he won by the round where he knocked him down. Had he not knocked him down, that round could've been more of a gimme and the fight could've been closer.
Either way, I dont consider my scorecard to be the absolute one, so when I say that it was a 'fairly' comfortable win (you seemed to miss that word out), I do of course mean by the people who actually make the decision on the fight, those being the judges.
Hatton often looks ugly before AND after fights. Doesnt mean that he had his 'ass whooped' at all. I wouldnt consider any fighter to have had their ass whooped unless they went down badly, got knocked out, got stopped or got dominated. Hatton didnt...he won.
What was your score of that fight? I had it 114-113 Collazo...
I had Hatton up by a knockdown. I didnt score any round 10-8 to Collazo though.
Either way, if you had him up by one, would you consider that to be 'An ass whooping'?
I had it 114-113 Collazo as well, but that is giving all the close rounds to Collazo
. I honestly think that you could easily have the fight 116-111 Hatton. A very close fight, but if I'm honest hatton probably did just enough to pull out the W. I prefered Collazo's style but he didn't press the gas in the mid-late rounds when he could have swept the board tbh.
What was your score of that fight? I had it 114-113 Collazo...
I had scored that Hatton had won by the same margin, it was a close fight and if I'm truthful I was worried getting to the end as a late knockdown by Collazo on Hatton would have thrown the cat amongst the pigeons but....it didn't happen.
Hatton won the fight legit if not comfortably and its now history...move on guys.
I genuinely genuinely wish that people would stop re-writing history on the Collazo vs Hatton fight. Hatton knocked him down, Hatton didnt get knocked down. Hatton had a bad 1 minute where he hung on, regained composure and then got back to business. He then won a reasonably comfortable decision. This in NO WAY constitutes 'getting his ass whooped'.
It will be impossibe to stop people saying Collazo whupped Hatton. Which confirms my belief that fans of boxing talk more trash than any boxer ever has.
