Whos performance was better?
Pavlik dominated and knocked out a rising prospect, a huge puncher, and earned himself a legitimate and hard earned shot at TAYLOR
Diaz dominated and stopped Freitas in the 7th round. Freitas, a Brazilian icon and a fighter who fought the like the guy who was on his way to the hall of fame before running into chico. That was a very good Freitas who fought Diaz that night.
I thought Diaz's performance was better.
e-z has it right here. freitas was actually competitive for the majority of his fight. pavlik FORCED miranda to lose by knocking him the fuck out. miranda wasn't the naturally smaller man nor was he regarded as the lighter puncher.
diaz was fighting a career 130 pounder with good skills, a nice right and a title strap. freitas quit by his own admission....pavlik crushed miranda...simple decision here.
pavlik was more impressive.
He does what he needs to get done and there was a reason he was fighting for a shot at the middleweight championship.
That's a useless argument. Tell me what Henry Akinwande was doing fighting for Lewis' WBC title. Tell me what Mzonke Fana was doing in the ring with Barrera. Sanctioning bodies throw anybody who looks appealing one moment in there and they get dusted the next. There is no rhyme or reason as to who gets the opportunities, but the good fighters make the most of them. Between the Abraham and Pavlik debacles, Miranda has failed miserably thus far. Not exactly the sign of a good fighter.
Miranda is not a good fighter whether you acknowledge it or not.

This is a great post, if you think Pavlik had the better win, then just read this post.
sorry bro but this thread is about the better performance and not about the better win.....
Pavlik performed better... many people were expecting for PAvlik to be blown away by Miranda....
Miranda was a semi proven opponent and the winner of this fight gets a shot at the title.
these are guys with talent, whether you acknowledge it or not.
Diaz beat Freitas handily, but much of the fight was competitive. It was a great preformance by Diaz.
However, Pavlik dominated a war, landing huge clean effective shots, almost knocking Miranda down in the first, technically doing it in the second, winning every round on many peoples scorecards and knocking down Miranda 3 times.
You should remember that Freitas quit on his stool, he wasnt brutally knocked out like Miranda was. Also considering Pavlik was the underdog and so many people were all over Miranda's jockstrap.
Man it was a great fucking preformance.

Are you saying that it doesn't matter who Pavlik beats, he's no good because he's white? You seem VERY biased against white boxers.
Did I say that? Read my post and try again. Unproven does not mean sucks where I come from, but whatever helps your start an accusation.
You don't think Diaz dominated Freitas? I gave Freitas 2 rounds and even those were close.
So let me ask you this: is it more impressive for Mayweather to defeat DLH or more impressive for Bradley to beat Camarena on SHObox here tonight? Because everyone thought Mayweather would beat De La Hoya, but SHObox fights are toss ups generally. Bradley dominated every round of the fight against Camarena. See my point?
Who cares if Pavlik dominated and destroyed a guy who was a mystery and turned out to be no good at all. We know DLH is good because he's proven it time and time again like Freitas has.

Right but I expected Diaz to win and win quite comfortably.
I wasnt sure about Pavlik but he absolutly dominated and blew his opponent out of the water.

This just in: Miranda = nothing
Freitas = Miranda's KO power + good wins + titles in multiple divisions
Like Gunstar says, do the math

How can anyone pick an unproven fighter knocking out another unproven fighter over a legitimate champion knocking out a former champion who had only been stopped by Diego Corrales?
You guys on the Pavlik train are a TRIP, I tell ya. A TRIP.
You all claiming he is so good are no different than the Miranda fans hyping their boy for knocking out Howard Eastman, getting outboxed by a guy with a broken jaw (even Ken Norton didn't get outboxed by MUHAMMAD ALI when Ali had a broken jaw!!!!), and stopping Allan Green, who was almost stopped by a freakin JOURNEYMAN on FRIDAY NIGHT FIGHTS. This is ridiculous.
Pavlik deserves credit for knocking everyone out, but he still hasn't accomplished anything relevant. He's winning, which is all he can do right now, and it's not his fault if the middleweight "champs" don't fight him, so I'm not knocking him for what he's done. I'm knocking all of you for jumping the gun.
Freitas was a better fighter than Miranda, was being the operative word.
Coming out of retirement after a loss, Freitas basically came out to see if he could steamroll a guy who wasn't considered a big puncher, & quit when he found out it was going to be a very tough night.
Pavlik took apart a hungry, dangerous bomber, & did it well.
Was impressed with Diaz, but Pavlik aced the bigger test.
pavlik for sure. he came straight at a guy who had a rep (and KO percentage) of a huge puncher and he beat him down.
freitas was pretty damned competitive with diaz for awhile...but freitas is obviously a softy and called it a day once he knew juan wasn't going anywhere.
great performances by both men though...certainly two of the best this year.
Pavlik,he KO'd a monster in Miranda,Pavlik was underdog, alot of people including me believed Miranda was the future of the division,he was one scary guy! But Pavlik beat him at his own game in a great fight
diaz did good in his fight with popo. but popo caught him once or twice and won a couple of rounds off of diaz.
miranda never had a chance. pavlik ripped him to shreds.
props to both fighters, but pavlik's performance what much more impressive.
They (Ghost and Baby Bull) were both equally great in their "performance".
However Pavlik did have what seemed to be a more formidable opponent. I agree that Diaz had already shown his vulnerability in a few fights including quitting. Miranda is a hard punching, determined, top MW. Miranda wasn't as proven as Freitas in terms of competition (Casamayor, Corrales, Raheem, Barrios, Grigorian, Ramirez), but at this stage in their careers was considered more dangerous.
