Has any fight been proven to have been "fixed"?? I seen alot of tyson fights in my day (Bruce Seldon) and it would be unbelievable if nobody admitted to taking a dive... List other fights that you think may have been "fixed" or you thought someone took a dive...
I agree on the Lewis-Holyfield one. That one female judge who King made sure was there told so many different stories about her reasoning in judging it. And she was in debt, big time. She had no business being there in the first place, but King made sure she was.
dlh vd trinidad...
lewis vs holyfield I...
I think you are confused by the understanding of poor judging and a fixed fight...
Oscar ran lose the late rounds hence the defeat...Oscar took a gamble by assuming he could cruise for 3 rounds and it was just retarded for him to believe that he was up on every single judges scorecard...Oscar screwed Oscar...
For what purpose does Oscar gain by throwing the fight to become business partners with B-hop? Hopkins brought nothing to the table with Golden Boy not enough to throw a fight. The only thing wrong with Oscar in that fight is that he knew if he got off the mat he would have gotten a whooping similar to Tito and it just wasnt worth the additional damage...
yea, real talk...i don't see how that fight was fixed
I think ref Zack Clayton reached the count of ten but commentator KFC Colonel Bob Sheridan was behind him in counting and was at 8.
Ali's corner had even come to Clayton earlier with money and told him to stop it if Ali was taking a horrible beating but wouldn't quit.
Foreman was mentally messed up for awhile after Zaire and is still making excuses for his loss and stupid perfomance.
Really, shit i gotta watch that again, great observation.
The perception (true or false) that he hung-out with underworld types did nothing to enhance his credebility.
That wasn't just perception. The guy was basically managed by Frankie Carbo and Blinky Palermo.
For George Foreman to defend his title against Axel Schulz, Arum had to pay the regular IBF sanctioning fee plus an extra $100 000 under the table. Schulz went on to dominate the fight yet Foreman won by a Majority decision. When the promoter of Schulz (Cedric Kushner) pushed for a rematch, he was told by the IBF that it could happen for, you guessed it $100 000. Kushner agreed to pay it but Foreman refused the rematch, he was stripped of his title and Kusher was out 100 G’s.
Very few people had bet on that fight, so a couple bets could've changed the odds dramatically.
Thomas Hauser had a good article on that fight and the likely reasons for the questionable circumstances.
It's not how many bet on it, it's how much money is bet. If just a few high rollers bet on a fight with little action, the odds can have a large shift.
DLH- Mayweather was an attempted fix imo, i stand by that as well, the cards were a little to close, one round the other way by roth and we would have had a convieniant controversial draw which would mean a big money rematch would have to happen.
......the odds on wlad -brewster dropped from 10-1 t0 3-1 hours before the bout........wlad subsequently dropped from "exhaustion" after only 5 rounds....hmm?

Melito had fixed fights, it was proven. The Emannuel Augustus-Courtney Burton fight was fixed and I'm confident the ref AND the judges were in on that one.

I don't think Tyson vs Ettiene was even suspicious. Tyson landed a beatiful right hand on the chin. Would have knocked out 99% of heavy weights.
There was no fix, the Black Rhino got hit with a good shot and then quit.
Guys don't take the time to pull out their mouthpieces, and then go unconscious afterwards.
Clifford's chin wasn't exactly the best of chins anyway.
I remember in the Foreman/Moore Legendary fights they said that in his first fight with Ali, that Foreman was up at the 8 count, then I was watching "When We Were Kings" & I saw the exact same thing, he was up at 8 & the ref just waved him to his corner. I'm not saying it was fixed but once Ali did the impossible no one was really interested in seeing Big George get back up, What would have happened if this fight had continued?

Oscar vs Sturm
and i'll admit it Oscar s Mosley 2
Oscar vs Mosley 2 fixed? No way why would it be? Mosley didnt benefit from the win it was just a bad call on the judges part...
Oscar and B-HOP shouts fixed.
They turn into business partners 2 weeks later.
WTF?

there was an italian heavyweight named richie melito who was proven to have several of his fights fixed back in the 90's..
he didnt even know they were fixed himself it was all being done by his manager in hopes of getting him a big fight that so that he could bet the house on the other guy....
well he got him a fight with bert cooper and cooper smoked his ass with a brutal knockout.... it wass revelaed after the fact that the fights were fixed after one of his early opponents spoke up about it and released phone conversation tapes incriminating the manager
First person I thought of when I saw this thread. I've attended quite a few of Melito's fights (a lot of them having taken place in Long Island and NYC), and the sad part is, considering who he fought for much of his career, the disgrace is that some of those fights actually required being fixed!
God, he was awful. I was there the night Cooper knocked him out. Same night Mo Harris took it up the ass on the cards against Larry Holmes - it was never proven the fix was in on the cards that night, but that was just a terrible decision.
There have been fixed matches but I don't think they're anywhere near as common as some of you are suggesting. More often the cheating takes the form of drugging fighters, using banned diuretics and blood transfusions so they can make weight, trainers loading gloves, referees being pressurised and maybe paid... SOme of the fights you are saying were fixed, it doesn't make sense. Why would you fix a fight against obviously inferior opposition? Fixing fights is primarily related to gambling. You fix the fight so the favourite takes a dive, like LaMotta did against Fox. You don't fix it so the underdog takes a dive, what's the point?
