id describe geronco as tough. he's only 24 or something and he's had that many fights. im not sayin good but he's better than his record suggests. like many philipinos that come to australia he has been on the back end of some terrible robberies. ive seen him live and he is more capable than the record indicates.
still im glad other people are recognising the talent too. hope he goes well.
ill give u all an update after his australian title fight in july.
He's also been stopped half a dozen times.
I wouldn't describe his opponent as a "tough veteran" so much as a "professional opponent". He has 25 losses and has won only one of his last 20 fights.
Willie looks pretty good though. The trouble is you never know how they cope when the opponents dry up and they have to face real competition.

Five of his first six had no fights, eight of the last ten were coming off a loss (or more) and the remainder were coming off draws/no contests... which followed a loss.
So padding.
Tyrone " Young Gun' Brunson is a great prospect too

16 - 0 16 (all in the first round)
Are the fighters brunson's fighting any good or are they just there to pad his record. Have u seen him fight does he look good?
He has the coolest name I've heard in ages, thats for sure.
Looks like he has some promise. The low hands are always a concern when a guy fights another really skilled fast boxer.

His style seems reasonably like Carl Froch: Low hand, hurtful hooks and uppercuts, finds the body well.
Of course his reactions were very good as well, more Floyd like.
I'd like to see more of him (and other home grown Aussie prospects).
cool willie kickett
in his fourth fight against very tough 37 fight veteran.
a very promising prospect indeed. Would very interesting to see Cool Willie with someone that "takes-it-to-him", and doesn't stand there "waiting'. Overall, good hand speed, head movment, just needs to keep his hands higher, vulnerable to a straight "anything"...jab, right hand, left. Gotta see this kid, when's he fighting next??
he will be more of a counter puncher, but he wont be like a Spinks or anything throwing every 20 seconds and dancing around. he'll stand toe 2 toe with anyone cuz like i said earlier, he's not afraid to take a punch.
i'd like to see him at welterweight, he'll get more attention there.
yeah mate he's fighting moey elomar for the australian super featherweight title in july. elomar is a controversial cunt.. 14-1.. only fight he lost was by disqualification.. they reckon he's had some gift decisions but still a pretty solid 5th opponent.
yeah he's probably going to be a counter puncher but i think he will be more aggresive than what u see in the clip.. in between rounds his trainer was telling him they didnt want the KO they were just using his first televised fight to showcase his skills.
his chin is solid he caught some real bombs.
i liked that he kept his cool when geronco used dirty tactics and listened well in his corner. hopefully big things will come for COOOOOOOOL WILLIE KICKETT
i'll show some love. great hand speed. he's a defensive fighter from what i can tell, but at the same time isnt afraid of getting hit. he looks like one of those guys who can fight off the ropes or in the corner extremely well.
i'm really impressed with his quick left hand, and he looks like he's got some power as well.
nice vid. u know when his next fight is?
