Miranda definitely lost to the better technical fighter tonight. Pavlik's punches were shorter and harder. He did a masterful job and should get all the credit in the world.
Is Miranda overrated? I think after this fight and a lot of the hype that HBO showed him that you would have to think he was. I still feel like he will be a good fighter in the division, but just not the best. Maybe not at this moment, if he works on his technique a lot more and work on his mistakes of this fight he could be back and better. Pavlik showed the world tonight that he is no joke and deserves a title shot against Taylor. If not him at least another champ in the division.
on the weight drained issue........what happened to miranda is that he punched himself out.......every punch he threw were with bad intentions and was not picking his shots........i dont think the weight had any effect on tonights fight.....pavlike was the better man tonight......bring on the rematch.....
Miranda is still a very good fighter, to say he was weight drained takes away from Pavlik's performance. Miranda was getting bombed as soon as the fight started, getting hit like that will sap your stregth. Miranda had showed who he was against not only Abraham, but Allen Green as well (who many here thought was the best thing since sliced bread).
It was an awesome performance, and a great fight tonight. Miranda went out on his shield, giving everything he had, but being beat by a better fighter. I don't understand the need to put him down for giving everything he had in a losing effort.
i still don't believe Miranda was overrated, he just needs alot of work in the gym with his technique.. a few sessions with a trainer like Emmanuel Steward would do WONDERS for a guy like Miranda..
^^^ive seen the miranda-abraham fight and i feel miranda was short ended that night over seas....regardless he got beat straightup tonight in an all out war...congrats to pavlik proving many doubters wrong including myself.....im pumped to see these two gladiators go at again....
the only problem i had was that when the Abraham-Miranda fight went off.. so many people didn't see it but were talking lots of crap on Abraham.. i like Miranda, but he needs to learn alot of technical basics.. i can see both of these guys (Pavlik, Miranda) being future big names and stars in the sport...
^^^great points homie....good to see there still some dudes in here that know their stuff.....u know even with miranda being ko'd i still believe he would beat taylor if he ever gets a chance.....i doubt taylor is going to give pavlik a shot though....especially after tonight.....pavlik looks solid and in my mind the next big thing in the middleweight division is the "rematch".......im willin to bet anything taylor's next fight is against calz or jones, jr......
I think people fell in love with Miranda's muscles and trash talk a little bit too much. Very dangerous fighter and one of the best in the division, but he was outworked by a better and stronger fighter. The people that are saying Miranda lost because he was weight drained are kidding themselves. Give Pavlik some credit. Miranda threw some HARD shots and Pavlik ate them and kept coming. Miranda got tired because he was throwing every shot like a home run and wore himself out, and Pavlik was consistently landing nasty body shots. Pavlik invested in the body a lot more than Miranda did. I think Miranda was really surprised when he landed flush shots and Pavlik kept coming. He's obviously not used to fighting under pressure.
Pavlik said he was going to back Miranda up becasue he cant fight under pressure and thats exactly what he did.
Great gameplan, and it paid off.

to me peole who bash a fighter for losing in an all out war giving all he has in the ring are the ones that know crap about boxing......its a one on one battle and this cat went out like most fighters refuse to....on his shield...i give pavlik credit....under the heat that was brought in the 1st rd he kept his cool and stuck to his gameplan of backing him up.....great job but also got even more respect for pantera for refusing not to stay down....those fighters deserve more than these idiot internet warriors disrespecting them.....
amen to that!!

Yeah... You win some you loose some. From what I hear it was an awesome fight and much props and respect to Pavlik. I'm still a Miranda fan regardless of the loss, IMO he gives exiting fights and from what I hear thats what Pavlik and Miranda gave us tonight.
Exactly. It was a great fight and that's what we want as fans. Don't listen to the people who come on immediately after the fight and post negatively about Miranda because their homotions are obviosuly to overwhelming for them to just give props to both fighters for slugging it out. They instead feel the need to rub it in and it just shows their bias shine. BTW, I picked Pavlik in this.
first when i heard that he came overweight i knew that he was going to loss because Miranda is a sloppy puncher and he doesnt have the speed nor the skills for plan B
another thing i not a fan for Miranda because of his boxing first when i seen his fight with Eastman i knew they guy got lucky with Eastman mistake that he had a chance to KO him. and i been telling that Miranda need to change trainer or something because he style is ugly.
....Miranda is a tough SOB I will give him that. He got crushed tonight. His corner should have stepped in way before it was stopped. Pavlik is someone to be reconed with for sure. You could tell from the start that Pavlik was the stronger guy with more pop.
