I've been off work and training all week because i was in a car crash on wed, and ive basicly watched ma Oscar and Floyd boxset's, and it seems to me a big oscar de la hoya fan, that when oscar went in a fight with the best fighters Trinidad, Shane, Bernard and Floyd he has lost, and it was the same in all of them, he looked good at the start then lost the fight on points, obv Hopkins knocked him out....he looks great against lesser fighters who have good names like JJC, Camacho,Quartey(what a fight that was)Gatti,Vargas,Campas and of course Mayorga........what do you think Oscars next move should be? because lets be honest he's not past his prime by any means, and its not like he has been in wars all his time in boxing so he still has alot left? a move down to 147? stay at 154 or take another chance at 160 now that hopkins has left?
I think the judges just bought the hype of mosley and were just dead set that he would win it the whole time...no favoritism per se, but the mind can make the eyes percieve things a certain way...kind like a certain OTHER robbery on May 5th this year..lol ok nm Ive beaten this subject to death.
If you don't think he was robbed the second time against Mosely, there's something totally wrong with not thinking he was robbed the second time around against Mosley. One of the biggest robberies in the history of boxing.
it may be.... but nothing beats
Oscar vs Sturm
Oscar won 2 rounds in that fight
he didnt beat TITO, man people "fans" can say what they want, but its always gonna be an L, its never gonna change the fact in 10000000million years, when someone looks at oscars record they will go, ohh man he got beat off Trinidad, its not gonna change facts just because some people think oscar deserved the win, maybe he did, but the judges didnt think he did and thats what really counts in boxing not what we think.
If you think Tito beat Oscar, you need to stop smoking crack and just starting shooting smack.
Outside of perhaps Holyfield no fighter has fought a higher caliber of opposition then Oscar has. He is not in the same class as Leonard or Duran, but he tried his best and win or lose he was competive in all his fights, and was never blown away as some fighter has been in there big fights. The only problem with Oscar was that in some of his big fights it looked as if he was just satisfied with beeing compitive and did not let it all hang out. Just let it lose and try to pressure it all and take some chances. I will remember him as a great fighter that fought them all, not among THE best, but just under the best fighters of the last generations. But one think he has allways had in my eyes is that he is the most beatiful fighter and generally a good personality
Oscar's opposition level is top notch, however he's not as admirable when it comes to rematches.
Whitaker and Quartey don't get rematches, neither does Sturm, but Chavez gets one.
And De La Hoya only chose to rematch Mosley after Mosley had lost twice in a row to Forrest, and was new to 154 (one no-contest there).
THis is all true.

Oscar was robbed in the second fight against Mosley, but so was Quartey and Sturm...There was no way Oscar won either of those fights... Like I said in another thread oscar cannot win against fighters his own size or of elite skill and pedigree like himself..Oscar made his name busting up little dudes

u need to watch the fight again with no volume and pay close attention. oscar wasnt landing.
One thing about DLH is he was never really BEAT. He has lost but never really hurt. All the great fighters that beat him have had their day of blowouts.
Mosley- V. Forrest hands down just whipped his ass. We also cant forget how easy wink took him out.
Trinidad- B-hop had a easy win and was SHUTDOWN bu wright.
If you always box vs. the best, you will lose a few. But DLH was always been competitive and really hand a chance to win every fight.
i thought quartey (even the rds where there wasn't much action) took the rds with the jab and your right rd. 6 quartey won hands down. i mean i saw worst decisions than that fight but i thought quartey should of got the nod. what really gets me is oscar said something like he didn't there should of been a rematch that he didn't think it was that close now that's bullshit.

De La Hoya did too little from rounds 7 to 11, and even lost round 6 when both went down b/c Quartey did the better work after the 2 KDs.
The judges were probably drunk or on the take that night to have him winning by 4 points.

I had Quartey winning 8 rounds of the fight. That was another fight where Oscar would have easily won if would have just let go. He was just standing there posing while Quartey landed jab after jab. Tito would have been his career defining win, and he gave it away.
The one problem I saw in DLH career was he wasn't relentless. I was watching ringside the other day and it was on Sugar Ray Leonard. They showed his fight vs Robert Duran, the first one and I saw Duran do what DLH should have done vs PBF.
DLH never had that killer instinct the way other fighters have had in the past. He was too "pretty" at times and I think that hurt him in his career. Over all he will still go down as a great fighter.
Oscar was a different type of fighter though. Duran was an amazing swarmer who could slip shots so well while coming forward or roll with them. De La Hoya has solid parrying ability, but he's not as good with his head movement, especially when he's being aggressive and on the offensive.
And with Oscar having stamina issues from time-to-time, including the Mayweather fight, I don't think setting a fast pace like that would've been good.
What I think Oscar really should've done different is jab more often. I only saw Mayweather use the counter right over it just one time, early in round 3, and Oscar walked through it.
your right, i thought quartey won that fight also.

You mean what a good two rounds 6 and 12 were.
The rest of the fight was a pose-fest and a jab-a-thon, that Quartey should have won by a point.

DLH will remembered as a great fighter no matter what the outcome. He was robbed vs Trinidad no doubt and the 2nd Mosley fight could have gone either way. The one thing you fail to mention about DLH is he fought the best, never ducked anyone and never was not in a fight. He was competative vs EVERYONE he fought.
DLH is a 6 time champ and his resume' speaks for himself. He lost to PBF, Bernard Hopkins and Mosley, not a bad group to lose to. He beat Trinidad in his prime (and yes fans will remember the truth as we do Chavez vs Whitaker) and beat every other champ available.
The one problem I saw in DLH career was he wasn't relentless. I was watching ringside the other day and it was on Sugar Ray Leonard. They showed his fight vs Robert Duran, the first one and I saw Duran do what DLH should have done vs PBF.

kevin mcbride > tyson then....
stfu
yea tyson got beat from McBride? that ment to bother me, thats like me sayin Floyd knocked shit out of Corrales n made him look like a bitch? point in that
