Kelly Pavlik--the ghost from youngstown will be the middlweight contender after going through Edison "pantera" Miranda. Pantera is a strong fighter that loves to frail wide angled shots with devastating KO power. The problem however is that Pavlik loves to jab and is a solid straight ahead pounder with his own devastating KO power. If miranda comes in swinging wildly pavlik will eat it up and this will be a relatively short fight. Pavlik by KO. If miranda has watched tape and seen how he needs to show alot more defense than in the past then this should be a long fight ultimately decided by decision. Either way I really believe Pavlik will dominate no matter how Miranda chooses to fight.
:boxing: Next saturday, Pavlik will be the #1 middlweight contender.:boxing:
Pavlik has very good technique, but he gets caught too much. If he fights the perfect fight, but I don't know if he can, he can win the fight because Miranda's beatable.
Miranda's problem is that, well, he has very little boxing technique. He had one trainer, Stacy Goodson, that was trying to teach him how to fight. but Stacy's been out of his camp for a long time now, and Miranda is basically using just his physicality to win fights. But he has one punch power and is dangerous in every round.
Have you had a chance to spar with Hopkins yet?

Now Miranda has Jose Bonilla and training out of Carolina, Puerto Rico. Bonilla, to me, is an excellent match for Edison. Besides the fact they speak the same language and Edison looks up to Jose as a father figure, Jose Bonilla is an excellent trainer who has molded the one dimisional power house in Edison and taught him to be more patient and box. In the Allan Green fight he showed some boxing skills that most people didnt think he had. For 8 rounds, Edison was very patient and outboxed and outpointed the 'skillful' Allan Green. Finally in Round 9 and 10 the 'Panther' came out of Edison and he went on the attack looking for the kill.
I see a similar Miranda coming out against Pavlik. The big difference is that Pavlik is there to be hit. Green has better movement and defensive skills. Once Pavlik gets hit, he wont be able to go into a survival mode. He may even want to exchange. I see Edison stopping Pavlik within 3 rounds.

There is no doubt that Pavlik is a better techincal boxer than Miranda. As to whether he can overcome Miranda's natural ferocity is hard to say. Green has some firepower but it didn't seem to throw Miranda off his game. As to whether Pavlik can get the job done remains to be seen. This is one fight I don't intend to bet on, it is too close to call.

Ohh man, cannot wait for this fight. I am rooting for the american Pavlik, but I like Miranda as well and wouldn't be too upset if he won. I think if Pavlik can stand firm in there and take a few shots, then he will have a very good chance at Miranda. However, If Miranda hits him hard and early, which he will, and Pavlik gets hurt, he will be in big trouble and may be an early Ko. Funny how this is the undercard and no one is even really talking about Taylor/Spinks
If Pavlik wins i dont think many people will be shocked, its two solid middleweights in there prime fighting each other. Its a pick em fight really, thats why there is so much buzz around this fight.
the only reason i said they will be shocked is because there is a few people on here that think pavlik has no chance of beating miranda. it should be a good fight and i won't be shocked who wins and your right it is definately a pick'em fight.

Russian? Tells me what you know--idiot. he is from youngstown--and all this talk about how edisons upbringing was soo hard,,boo freakin hoo. Its going to be harder next week when hes actually getting hit by someone who can throw just as hard, if not harder than miranda. Ko by the 5th
Pavlik is definitely the more well rounded boxer, but Miranda has faced opponents that are more skilled than him and he has won. I felt Pavlik left himself wide open a few times against Zertuche, and if that happens against Miranda it should be lights out. Pavlik is better than some people think, but Miranda seems like he is destined.
All this talk about miranda knocking people out--who? You keep saying green--geez--he couldnt even knock a man out with a broken jaw running around the ring. Pavlik has fought some nobodys also-ill give you that but it doesnt mean miranda is on this pedestal of being this crazy animal that punches like godzilla. Wait until he feels a nice clean body shot from pavlik and hes staring up at all those bright lights. We will see.
And Pavlik has never been in against a fighter like this or a hard fight so, there are question marks. If his chin does holds up and he remains poised I do think Pavlik wins this.
not many but some solid fighters. eastman has never been stopped or even hurt i think. when i see both pavlik and miranda it jus seems that when pavlik lands it does not have the effect it should, whereas miranda's punch does.
zuetuch took many good shots before gettin tired and then ko'd.
I agree that Miranda has more 1 punch power.
What great opponents has Miranda KO'd?
