There is a reason Hatton has ducked Witter for over 6 years and it aint Witters mouth or antics.
it must have been his devastating victory over that beast morua and his war with kotelnik :ugh:
I will start by saying Im a Hatton fan...And if Witter and Hatton get it on, I think it would be stopped on cuts, I do believe that Witter will open up Hattons face, as Witter tends to whip his punches. IMO
Subtract Koletnick from that LIST it's a win on paper.. But it was an Outright Robbery and HOME town descion
Exactly how I saw it. This fight just showed how Witter is nowhere near Hattons level. Witter has not impressed me for a few years now, and altough Hatton has been poor of late he will outclass Witter completly.
Don't get me wrong, Witter's belt is meaningless despite its history. But previously Hatton spoke of unification, of belts justifying contests. Now it doesn't suit him he's neglected those aspirations.
With N'Dou, M'Baye and Witter holding three belts, he's essentially buggered for obvious opponents.
Torres and Harris are probably his preferred 140 option though I suspect Spadafora, Bojado and Juan Diaz will soon join that list.
Certainly before Mosley, Mayweather or Oscar do.
True about 140 possibilities (besides Witter and Harris) but I think a possible rematch with Collazo at 147 could actually happen, as the jump back up could be an option. Of course he would then lose to anyone in the top 10 apart from maybe Baldomir, Gatti or Cintron.
Junior Witter would dance rings around fatboy Ricky Hatton, and make him look like the over-rated money hungry eejit that he is. Witter by wide UD, although I wouldn't be suprised to see a screwjob, Hatton being allowed to pull every cheat in the book, and with his own ref and judges.

I agree with you. No question Hatton's resume far outweights Witter. However, I don't think that permits us to totally discredit Witter given the context of the division, in which precious few legitimate threats exist.
And Witter is the WBC strap holder. I guess suddenly the belts are no longer an object of affection for Hatton?
I won't totally discredit him, however the belt he won was vacant...not sure how or why Corley was chosen...his previous 2 opponents had 63 losses!
Disagree on Kotelink, it was razor thin and I wouldn't have argued with a win for the challenger but I don't think it was a home-town decision.
Watch Martin Jacobs versus Colin Dunne for better evidence of a true home town decision.

Suggesting Witter has beaten 'nobody' is easy to type, but harsh on the Bradford puncher.
N'Dou, Kotelink and Corley is a reasonable body of work and while the nature of the performances were inconsistent it stacks up well with the winning ledgers of the remaining fighters in Hatton's division.
And that is an important context, the 140 pound division is increasingly barren.
Vivian Harris, Jose Luis Castillo (if he makes weight) and.......Kendall Holt?

Witter has beaten no one worth mentioning. He does not knock out many people either. He could not beat Hatton by decision due to Hatton's work rate so how could he possibly win?
The bookies are not usually wrong either, as if the fight was actually made Witter would be an overwhelming underdog.
For all you Hatton haters, he is definately a cut above Witter end of story.
hattons work rate would actually work against him. witter is a sharp and powerfull counterpuncher. witter does not usually go out lookin for ko's but picks little mistakes and makes his oponents pay. aggressive fighters like hatton would be perfect for witter. another reason why witters last few oponents did not get ko'd was because they were to scared to throw after they felt his power. after corley was rocked he did not want to take any chances at all.
i kinda see this fight going similar to the ndou fight, except hatton would get brutally ko'd as ndou if he wouldnt have broke the hand.

A rag bag of comments on this.
1) Witter is not feather-fisted
2) Hatton is a good boxer, will win plenty of rounds vs Witter
3) I'd give Witter a chance because Hatton's chin and stamina seem to be declining with age, inactivity and diet, but I'd bet on a Hatton lateish stoppage.
Witter wont be able to do a fencing impression With Hatton all over him.. I suspect Hatton Maul the living shite out of Witter...
I don't see the fight going past 8-9 very onesided rounds..
