With the one year layoff, and that fucked up no contest decision last month (in which the cut was clearly caused by a punch) Judah is the hungrier fighter at this point in his career. I think he fully realizes that this fight with Cotto is his last chance to shine, if he wins, he's back in the forefront of the game. If he loses he'll be lucky to get another fight on ESPN.
Cotto is a solid fighter with a lot of heart and power, but he's been hurt before and he's been down before, by guys who don't have as much snap in their powershots as Judah does in his jab. I think a lot of people are picking Cotto simply based on the fact that he's an undefeated Puerto Rican knockout artist, with a crowd pleasing style. When it comes to technical ring savvy, Cotto is nowhere near Judah's level.
I think the first 3-4 rounds of the fight will begin slowly with Miguel Cotto stalking Judah, loading up the hook and trying to get inside to pound Judah's body. Judah will be evasive and look almost as defensively gifted as Floyd Mayweather. In round 5 the tempo of the fight will change with Judah seizing control and keeping Cotto at bay with the jab and following up with his straight right hand, jumping in and out of combinations.
By round 8 it will be Judah's fight to lose and there will be a sense of desperation in Cotto's corner for him to land something big. Cotto will land more accurately with his body shots in rounds 9 and 10 and change the momentum of the fight in his favor. Judah will be rocked and running low on energy and Miguel will pick up the pace giving it his all in the 11th, and Judah will close strong in the 12th and final round.
Judah by unanimous decision, 116-112.
Judah is fast and a decent boxer, but Baldomir (who has very low KO ratio) and Spinks (same there) were able to hurt him and beat him. Judah will come out and try to take him out as he did that bum the other day, once he tastes those hooks and sees Cotto aint backing up, he's gonna try to outbox Cotto. Cotto will cut the ring off and stop him in the mid rounds. Then of course, many will come to the conclusion Judah's shot.
I think Judah can win but many people in here underrate Cotto's boxing skills, he can cut off the ring nicely and he'll find you with his punches. He's not the "Robocop" you make him out to be.
Cotto by KO within 6 rounds.
It's not a shock if judah wins. It's probably more of a shock if cotto wins.
Considering Zab's troubled career I do believe it would be shocking for him to actually win a big fight. Zab is very inconsistent, if he could focus for 12 rounds that would shocking to me.
I am also starting to slowly lean towards Judah in this fight. Like the Bringer said Judah understands that this maybe his last hope at getting big time fights and making major money. I feel he is quicker and packs a punch with that quickness. The only problem I see is if Judah doesn't stay focused for the whole fight. Also those body shots by Cotto could wear him down, but Im seeing either a late KO by Judah or a SD win.
Its no secret to anyone on here that knows me as a poster that I like Zab Judah. I think hes extremley fun to watch fight due to his south paw style and insane speed. However, I believe Cotto is going to win this fight by knock out in rounds 4-7. When Zab slows down and Cotto lands a big shot to Zab's chin I see Zab getting hurt. But hopefulley I'm wrong, I'd like to see Super Judah win.
Judah's only winning scenario would be a mid round tko/ko. Judah does not have the stamina to keep up with the pace that Cotto demands. Cotto comes prepared for 15, Judah seems to have trouble getting past 6.
I would definately not count Judah out of this one, but I feel that Cotto will be the victor. His pace will fluster Zab. His body punching will tire and break down Zab, possibly ending in a late round TKO/KO.
I'm also picking Zab. Everyone thinks Cotto will abuse Judah's body and break him down, but will Cotto move enough and be active enough? I don't think so.
Judah by decision.
Not a shock to me I'm favoring Judah maybe a KO.
So long as Judah doesn't gas out or become aggitated, a KO is entirely possible as well. I just think Judah will end up gassing out for a few rounds, and ultimately come back in the 12th to secure his victory.
