This was a great night for boxing. Good undercard, particularly the Bautista fight. The main event was a pretty good fight. It wasn't a brawl, but it was a close fight between two great athletes with excellent skill level. The action was good, and it ultimately put the spotlight on boxing for a very large audience. One fight can't "save" the sport (I put quotation marks because I don't necessarily think boxing need to be saved) but it definately helps a whole hell of a lot.
I was worried when one judge had it 115-113 for De La Hoya. If De La Hoya had been given the decision, that would have been a horrible rip-off. I thought that was a pretty clear cut Mayweather win. I wanted De La Hoya to win, I'm a De La Hoya fan, and I had him winning against Quartey, Whitaker, and in the second Mosely fight. However, that really would have been terrible if that fight had went to the golden boy. For that type of rip-off to happen on such a big stage in front of so many viewers would have really put a dagger into all the positive things that happened for the sport.
It was a good fight but Oscar got robbed. He was right, to take the belt you should have to clearly beat the champ and Floyd did not do that.
are you joking?
Floyd easily won 8 rounds.
Get over it. Let's move onto better things everyone.
ok lets talk about how one guy on boxing scene had the fight 116-114 de la hoya,
was he using an abacus or something?
lmao.
So im gonna ask you again,
Did oscar do enough to take the belt from sturm?
Did hatton do enough to take the belt from Collzao?
Nope.
Get over it. Let's move onto better things everyone.
You can make an argument that Oscar did not beat sturm, but we are talking about last night's fight right now.
The only rounds Mayweather clearly won were 1, 5, 9, 10. ,
Mayweather only won 4 clear rounds?
So when he nearly floored dlh in the 12th that was his round?
What about the 11th when he hurt DLH bad with a body shot?
Im sorry i dont believe you can score a boxing fight.
Your bang on the botton there Fella...To take the belt you have to come to fight..that wasnt enough from Mayweather..I am not saying Mayweather aint a great fighter but it was not enough, He never imposed himself in this fight at all

Nope.
So how did oscar do enough to beat sturm and become 6 weight world champ?

The only rounds Mayweather clearly won were 1, 5, 9, 10. Rounds 3 and 11 could have gone either way. The best Floyd should have gotten was a draw, in which case Oscar keeps the belt and certainly gets the moral victory.
I don't think he should be investigated, but I think he should be kept away from judging fights were there is a large crowd rooting for one guy. The only way in my opinion he could have that fight for De La Hoya was if he was heavily influenced by crowd noise.
I also think that it was bad scoring on that card...Somthing was up there
What do people think of the judge who had it 115-113 for DLH?
Do you guys not think he should be investigated?
I think that judge was horrible. Floyd clearly won. Oscar just didn't fight his fight, he fought floyds fight.

Ok, i think it was an attempted screw Job, seriously unless he has a guide dog that helps him to score the fight, there is no way you can score that 115-113 DLH, fuckin el man these guys are ringside and have the best view in the building. lol.

Honestly EliteSoldier, do you really like boxing? Are you a boxing fan? Because this was a pretty good fight. Both guys are good boxers, this was never supposed to be a brawl. It was close. There were very little clinches. Tactically it was very interesting. It had a lot of drama going in which helps. And of course both guys fought very well with solid game plans and a lot of skill. It wasn't Ward-Gatti or Corrales Castillo, but this had a lot of elements of a very good fight. I'm just thinking that your the type of guy who is never going to find a tactical boxing match to be entertaining.
