The State of Boxing

The thing that bothers me is these people act like Boxing will never acquire new stars as time goes on. They act like after May 5th the sport will never be mainstream again. Bottomline is there will be a new star on the come up, there always is...

I read my thing and it made no sense I meant to say "Anyone who says that boxing is dead today is just stupid" I thought I had to clarify. My bad.

I wouldn't disput the fact that this fight is gonna be very good for boxing and will hopefully get more people watching. But to day boxing is dead is just stupid. First of all boxing is exploding on the international scene making it more popular and diverse than ever before. Secondly it is true that boxing isn't as popular now as it was in the good ole' days or even Tyson's time but that doesn't mean there aren't millions of boxing fans across the nation who give a shit.

What we need is more gyms and better teachers.. Sometimes dudes have fought a couple am fights then they start training people like they know the sport.. Like Manny Stewart said I believe "WE DON'T NEED TRAINERS, WE NEED FIGHT TEACHERS."

People are just thinking too much from an American POV. It may be less popular in America but look at how many quality fighters are coming from all over the globe.

Boxing is in a good state but usally like many other it has cycles sometimes it is hight in popularity and somedays are not. anyway there is alway been UFC fighters and it ower talking about boxing to get it's own publicy and you rarely hear boxing calls out UFC because it really doesnt need that much of the publicity like the UFC.

Fuck that, live life. What ever happens happens. I Choose to box because it's fun. I want to try and make a name for myself. I want people to know me as a fighter. Lifes short, enjoy that shit!

It's not that kids don't want to fight. But, for one thing, they have too many other distractions these days. More different drugs, scoring girls younger, video games, skateboards, role models who make zillions playing sports where they don't get knocked out, etc. And many cities don't want or encourage boxing. They have reduced the funding and facilities. They encourage other sports with less risk and expense, like soccer. Most schools never had a boxing program, only wrestling at best. Without a solid club system, boxing will always remain a hit-and-miss proposition here in the States with our best boxers growing up in the ghetto or transplanted from foreign countries like Mexico.....

Just go to an amature fight and see how many kids dont want to grow up to be the next Ali. I know I went to an amatuer event a couple of weeks ago here in Colorado and I was surprised about how many kids were there. It got me excited and I realized just because boxing doesn't get talked about a lot on ESPN or other sports networks doesn't mean it's dead.

Boxing is for real men. People who want to box, never quit are bitches. Let everyone talk there shit. I was reading "The Ring Magazine" William Dettloff said.....
