What do you think?
I think both are possibilities.
He has been rocked many times. He's been in situations where an uptight referee may have stopped the fight. He was practically out on his feet against Torrest and Corley. Hasn't fought a decent puncher since. A sign of things to come?
On the other hand, He was young an inexperienced then, He fought his way through it, and Corley and Torres are no slouches in the skills and power departments.
Your thoughts?
You know what? I am a Miguel Cotto fan, but to anyone who thinks that the Judah fight is easy, you guys need to think again. Zab is faster, way faster, his defence is better and he packs a punch. What else would you like to see in a fighter? Sure he gets a bit discurage at times but that doesn't change the fact that he has tremendus fighting skills.
I for one will be rooting for Cotto but would not be suprized if Zab wins. I think if Cotto is able to cut the ring, improve his defence and show Zab that he is not going anywhere, I think he can win this. On the other hand Zab is able to establish distance and set the tempo with his in/out style this could be a bad night for Cotto.
miguel cotto is a special fighter. he has excellent mechanics along with good defense and incredible punching power. he has all the tools to be a great champion. i believe he can come back from being hit a lot better than people think. take the ricardo torres fight for example. he'll beat judah i think, and i don't see him losing for quite a while.
Hey Free,
I don't know.. You guys have done such a fine job of deconstructing Judah it may be difficult to credit Cotto for beating a fighter with no heart and no chin.. :lol1:
If Cotto wins I will rearrange my view of the guy to the point I would expect him to give just about anybody hell in the ring. :fing02: Depending on how he might win, of course.
If he does Judah like he did Quintana I think just about everybody would be impressed.
Defeating Judah could be massive for Cotto..
dont get me wrong bro I see things about Cotto that could be problems in this fight. He tends to pose when going defensively, He still eats too many needless punches, and unlike he did in the Urkal fight he needs to use his hard as nails jab early and often. as far as Zab goes, Cotto probably wasnt the smartest guy to jump back in with coming off the layoff and back to back losses. aint no shame in fighting some B rated guys to get really sharp again. Its really hard to tell with him how powerful he was at welter and how much of it he still has left. Take a look at who he fought at this weight class and the results speak for themselves. Im just not as convinced as most I guess.

Agreed, it will make him very confident. Expect more of the Quintana vs Cotto fight.
I don't see Judah having much of a chance......in reality his only chance is a puncher's chance........so basically this fight is an easy 90% win for Cotto, against a 10% chance of being KO'd...
We'll see how much Cotto has improved when he faces a proper contender, ie Clottey, Margarito, etc.......not this bum Judah.
Although I am for Cotto on this one, there is one big difference between Zab and Corley insane...power. This could be a problem if Zab catches him flush with that left.
But I agree wioth you on the Tito analysis. I also think Cotto is fundamentally a better boxer. He doesnt have as much power as Trinidad, but I like his technique and style better.
Let me tell ya all right now Cotto has one of the slickest hardest hitting young south paws in the game right now in sparring, my boy Frankie "El Gato" Figueroa he's the current new york state welterweight champ, the kid is no joke, not to mention whoever else they may have coming in, His team has done their homework. Cotto will be very well prepared for Zab However, the first good shot he lands will tell the tale... Let's not forget What cotto did to Quintana (contrary to what everyone was expecting), and even though I admit the corley fight was stopped short... Corley was definitely en route to gettin KOed.... Bottom Line South paws don't give cotto nothing he can't handle, He's naturaly a southpaw people... Cotto will be P4p watch... I think cotto is fundamentaly a better boxer than tito which may make him a bigger star in the end... You people have to be phsyco to think those corley and torres fights are blemishes on his career... if you ask me things like that is what shows the heart of a true champion to weather the storm and prevail that's what it's about people let's get it together Geeezzz!!!!!!
Addison, if Miguel impressively beats Zab will you finally give Cotto some props? If not what would it take?

I saw this in The Ring as well..
I don't know if it's going to be a string, because of the way his handlers will match him - but he will get KO'd and beaten badly - and soon. :fing02:

I bet you that the same guys who think that zab is going to beat Cotto, would be first ones to give no credit to cotto for beating zab.:nonono:
Actually, it will be just the opposite.

Im thinkin Cotto will be one of those good talents that will get a string of impressive victories, and then get knocked out just when everyone accepts him.
Kind of like Wladimir, if you get what Im sayin.
I still think Cotto has a lot to prove, but him fighting Judah will answer a lot of questions...about both of them

Doesnt Quintanna have power?? I really dont know...
I've only seen him rocked twice.
he's billed as a boxer puncher but there is really no proof of that.
He has a shiny KO record though, but i dont think he really has much power
I don't know if he will get to the P4P king spot, but he is definately going to make it into the top 3 or 4. I'll make my decision after the Judah fight.
Here's to hoping Judahs chin lasts long enough to really tell us something about Cotto.
Maybe Judah will stop Cotto.
I think if Cotto loses this fight badly, The way he bounces back will really show us something about his character and will
Btw, has that fight sold out yet?
Yeah but I think is defense is starting to get a little bit better. He is not the type that can dodge and elude a lot of punches. Instead, he is the type that is going to block punches with his gloves and arms. Watch his recent (last couple of fights) and you can see that his defense is getting better. He is starting to block a lot more punches.
