I personally want to see unification, but Don King is probably blocking any attempts for Wlad to do that.
I guess this is the next best move for Wlad, to avenge that wierd loss. I would pick Wlad to win inside 5 rounds.
He also had a detatched retina after that fight and has been out a long time, it may pass the tests but psychologcally will it affect him, i cant think of any fighter that has been successful after suffering such an injury. Is a fighter with an injury coming off a loss really a legitamate title challenger? Lewis avenging his losses was different, the WBC ordered him to fight Mccall for the vacant belt and he rematched Rahman immediatley after being beaten, this smacks of waiting until the guy is declined and ready for the taking, whats next calling Ross Purrity out of retirement or wherever he is, chasing corrie sanders across the golf course. At least Austin was coming off a draw not a loss.
uh sugar ray leonard had surgery to repair a detached retina and went on to beat marvin hagler. and this was over 20 yrs ago when many injuries were career enders. brewsters eye is fine now
Anyone with 2 eyes and a justification for a title shot, like winning their last fight! and not having being inative and recovering from a career threatenong serious injury, at least Austin was coming off a draw!
This smacks of Bruno Tyson 2. Bruno had a detatched retina but needed the big payday so didnt retire as he should have before the fight, psychologically he didnt want to take a shot becaus eof that and he cheated his way through the medical. Brewster had eye surgery before the first Wlad fight and before the Sergie fight and now he ha dthis injury, what next Ross Purrity getting a title shot!
he had surgery to repair the eye. obviously its healed or he wouldnt be fighting again. who would you rather see him fight in july? come on and give me some names here. I'll be waiting
I love how people that cant stand wlad make it out like brewster is now 50 yrs old with one arm. the guy has always been and up and down fighter his whole career. its not like he was blown out by serge. it was a war in which he had serge down and almost out but kcouldnt keep him down. sure,,,he may have some rust but he's still a very dangerous fighter and Im excited to see this rematchno not one arm, one eye. Ridicoulus match up for a world title.
uh,,,no sir. wlad wanted a rematch right away but according to brewster "wlad didnt deserve one". now who else would you rather wlad fight in july? james toney? chris byrd? tony thompson? lol,,,,,please name me a more dangerous available opponent for wlad this summerAnyone with 2 eyes and a justification for a title shot, like winning their last fight! and not having being inative and recovering from a career threatenong serious injury, at least Austin was coming off a draw!

wlad critics are soooo ridiculous.... who else better then brewster is available for wlad to fight??? peter, oleg, briggs and sultan all have title fights scheduled... chageav just fought and is unlikely to want to fight wlad in his first defense and that's providing king hasnt demanded options on him for fighting valuev like he usually does...
so who does that leave??? byrd, sergie, toney, rahman, brewster and ruiz... all coming off losses....who's the best of that bunch, that wlad hasnt already beaten and that he could avenge a loss too? brewster
exactly,,,,,plus at least brewsters last loss was a competitive loss in which he dropped serge and nearly had him out in a competive fight. brewster finished the fight on his feet unlike rahman and toney was dominated. yea,,,the haters will always come up with some excuse. they know the circumstances of the last fight between wlad and brew and know its a long shot for brew to repeat so they look for things to discredit wlad before the fight even starts

I dont see a problem with the fight because I think Wlad has to beat the guys that beat him in order to be the top dog at the weight.
What he said. Plus even a less than best Brewster is better than a Brock or Austin.

Yeah I guess it's official they have it on ESPN.com

I would like to see Wlad take on Brewster. Just for the revenge factor. This time i don't think he will run out of gas and KO Brewster in the mid rounds.

Who is Wlad gonna go after next, Ali! Its funny that now Brewster has a knackered eye Wlad wants to fight him, but really what kind of form is losing your last fight to get a world title fight! This is as bad as Austin, but at least he was coming off a draw not a loss.
oh please. who the hell else is a better fight with all the other guys having fights lined up? his eye is healed or else he wouldnt be cleared to fight. brewster is the most dangerous guy for wlad with peter,,unavailable. I give wlad credit for taking this fight. brewster will always have what gives wlad the most trouble "power" and heart
I don't think King has any rights with Chagaev, and that fight would be huge in Europe, so why not make Wlad-Chagaev for July 7? Well, Ruslan's people probably want at least one voluntary gimme defense for cash, so that will have to wait until fall at the earliest, but I think with no DK that is very makeable and realistic, so let's hope for that because it is our only unification possibility for the year 2007.
The WBC is tied up with the Maskaev/Peter/Vitali love triangle and the Briggs-Ibragimov winner will probably fight another retread like Davarryl Williamson or maybe even Chris Byrd (yikes!).
Wlad is not going to unify for ages, don king wont let him.
I know, it's pretty frustrating. I hate Don King. The division needs a real champion and Wlad could be the man if Don King would butt out. Instead we have Wlad fighting B-class fighters and everyone moaning about it. I would prefer Wlad to fight ANYONE with a title, even for a low payday, just to sort out the division.
Don's going to keep throwing Ray Austin's at him in the hope that one of them gets lucky. It's becoming too much now...
