I like many other super fans have been shaking my head at this weekends Clottey vs. Corrales matchup not from a fans point of view but from Deigo's point of view. Lets just say TEAM CORRALES(Gary Shaw) isnt doing Diego any favors with this matchup.
With that said I have had a bad taste in my mouth for some time at the way Josh Clottey basically threw in the towel in his last outing against Toney Margarito after winning in dominant fashion the first 4 rounds.
Sure he broke his hand but the second he broke it he was all thru. I know expecting Arturo Gatti to shine thru every fighter that faces adversity in the ring is not reality but was anyone else disapointed at the effort Clottey put forward after the 4th?
Yes I think it is an awful fight for Corrales but I will be looking for something to happen in this fight that tests Josh Clottey-it could be a Corrales left hand that breaks his jaw, his hand may not be right again or some other unforseen problem but I want to see Josh Clottey show some heart because I thought after outclassing Margarito for four rounds he faced some adversity and instead of even trying to show how much Gatti he had in him he cashed in his chips and decided it would be better to fight another day.
Looking forward to this one!
Watch the Clottey/Margarito fight again my friend, the second he hurts his hand he started advertising it to the world that he was hurt.
Im not judging Josh Clottey by any means all Im saying is that I will be watching him to see how he reacts the next time he is faced with a tough situation-you should too.
if he didint have heart, hed have quit on the stool, period, his hand hurt it was broken, that shit hurts, i aint gonna judge nobody on that shit.

Im not saying Clottey didnt do that, Im saying that he was clearly hurt. Gatti does it in nearly every single fight now, espically when he starts to lose or have trouble
You guys have to realize the opponent. One guy you dont want to injury your hand against is Margarito. What else did you want him to do? Margarito's a big strong guy who attacks non stop. Its no way near the same as hurting your hand against a boxer or something. It hurt for him to punch so he basically had to stand there and take punishment. He still did well. Lets not act like he was complete garbage after that. He still won some rounds and alot of people still had him winning the fight.
Also, Im sick of people boosting Gatti. Gatti is by far the fakest fighter out there. He doesnt hurt his hand anywhere near as much as he tries to make it seem. Any time he starts losing or a fight is close then he starts looking at his hand. Then he goes to the corner and tells the trainer he broke his hand but he never stops fighting or throwing punches any differntly. He just does it now for show or for to save himself from a embarrassment. I hope you guys dont fall for that crap every time. Also, 99% of the time Gatti is by far the bigger guy and he is the brawler. He hasnt gotten in the ring with a big monster like Margarito much.
Again, you guys act like Clottey quit. He didnt. He still fought and showed alot of heart to me. You just cant ask most guys to keep throwing a punch with the same power as before and Clottey is a fighter who throws almost all hard shots

thats wrong.
Gatti, for me at least, is easily in the top 10 for most heart in a fighter. ever.
Maybe he comes in at 10, but thats still fuckin amazing.
You can tell he's got heart because of the brutal amount of punishment that he takes and walks through and still comes back. SO, with that said, im pretty sure that he would be able to tough out a broken hand.
If he exaggerates, he does it in front of his opponent, in order to play a bit of possum u know? When he says it to his corner like he did in ward 3, the he really broke his hand

I'm not sure his heart is the issue, more so than his mental state in such fights. It's for that reason only that I'm picking Chico to eke out a decision. If Clottey can remain focused from 1-10, I'd pick him to win, possibly even stop Chico. But I don't think he has it in him.
I see Joshua sprinting out to an early lead, Chico eventually turning the tide and never looking back as Clottey gives away rounds and comes up short in the end. Of course, Josh will then bitch that he was robbed, while Chico moves on to bigger and better things - though personally I don't see him going very far at 147.
I think were on the same page my friend, weather you want to call it heart or mental makeup or just plain be tough we both have questions about Josh Clottey when things get difficult.
He gets a pass for his last bout by the eyes are on him now!
Corrales is taller, but not bigger. Clottey is the fresher and stronger man. Diego spent too much time at the lower weights, killing himself in order to fight smaller guys.

I want to see Paul Williams and Corrales fight...if Corrales can happen to pull this one out.....which I doubt he will but oh well I can wish.Williams would probably kill him anyway.....
Corrales will be at his best for this fight. He has trained hard I am quite sure and he will try his best to test Clottey.
But it will not happen. Clottey is too big. Corrales will be stopped in this fight, I feel more than 75% sure of that. Corrales is not the man to test Clottey's heart at 147. I feel bad for Corrales, and this is close to the end for him...as a top fighter.
well its typically diego corrales.
A young fighters dream would be to have the reputation Diego Corrales has worked so hard to earn.
And that reputation is always fighting the best out there. Diego has that in spades.
And uh... Corrales is the far bigger man in there... by nearly 4 inches. And with the muscle packed onto him to make the weight... Corrales is gonna tower over Clottey.
As big a Corrales fan as i am, i think you may be right though. There are a TON of questions surround corrales for this fight. But i think he answers all of them positively.
Will his chin be good and will the power still be there at welterweight? those are some big questions but i think they definetly will be there.
Whoever wins, this should be a GREAT GREAT GREAT fight. Just the style matchup, there shouldn't be a slow moment.

Gary shaw is certainly not doing him any favors in terms of trying to prolong his career.
Corrales should be fighting Emanuel Clottey not Josh!
