After watching that video a couple of times, something becomes very noticeable....Holyfield never hestitates to get up off the canvas and fight on! Love or hate the guy, roids or no roids; the guy's a true warrior of the sport and has more heart than alot of fighters past and present. That video is a true testament to Holyfield's toughness.
yea,,,,no one can question his heart,,,,thats for sure. steroids or not he's a warrior

I really think a lot of top heavyweights are juicing. Lets not be naive here. The steriod testing in boxing in pretty much nothing. Only testing on the day of the fight, which pretty much amounts to zero testing. Combine that with the importance of speed and power and the fact that boxing has a lot of very corrupt people in it, and draw your own conclusions.
Holyfield juiced, but Holyfield was also a great amateur to begin with and steriods don't give you heart and an amazing work ethic.
The simple truth is that a lot of Holyfield's opponents were probably also juicing. Maybe I shouldn't be saying this without any proof, but there has not been definitive proof against Holyfield yet either.
What a great clip of John Ruiz landing a perfect straight right to Holyfield's head. It's a wonder how he was able to get up and finish that fight. BTW, what ever happened to Ruiz? Seems as though he fell off the face of the earth.

Haven't read any posts from here but John Ruiz, Bert Cooper, James Toney, & Riddick Bowe.
Holyfield was all heart, jucing wont give you a chin like that(& I'm not buying that story til all the facts are in). Most of the KD were after taking punishment for a while. & that's the Toney that could have eaisily gotten a title before he went "all you can eat buffet" on us, great post.
Toney was unproven at the heavyweight division when he fought Evander. Who had he beaten ?...Jirov?..come on now & I'm not trying to diminish Toney in any way I just never took him serious at the Heavyweight level.

No disrespect, but I find it very unlikely that anyone with the physique and conditioning of a heavyweight champion was putting things into his body just because someone told him to and without knowing what they were.
You dont get into that kind of shape without taking very good care and a very keen interest in what you eat, what you drink, what you do and what you take.
He admitted it in an interview. He also accused Tyson of steroid abuse.
.. and he himself has NOW admitted he took steroids..
He clearly denies taking steroids.
But admits he took 'somthing' a few times.
It seems people are very eager to distort what he has said, and proclaim is a cheat. Why?
The fact is nothing has been proven, and he denies taking steroids.
"A doctor there prescribed something, but I don't know what it was. Hormonal something. All I know is it didn't do anything so I stopped taking it. I only took it two or three times over the summer. They said, 'Just keep taking it.' I said, 'Why, it's not doing anything?' I lost to Larry Donald ," Holyfield told the paper.
"Somebody high up in boxing mentioned to me that there was this other fighter who did steroids and I should too because it wasn't illegal in boxing yet," he said. "I said, 'I'm not going to do that. I ain't no cheater.' I was the undisputed cruiserweight champion and I was in the Olympics. If I started taking steroids, people would say, 'He cheated at everything.' But this guy told me, 'Well, Tyson is doing it, you should, too. I said, 'I don't care if Tyson is doing it, I'm not.' "
Bowe not Moorer. Moorer suffered knockdowns in both Holyfield fight though.
God damn it, I stand corrected...how the fuck do I lose frame of reference like this.
For the record I dont enjoy being corrected by some redneck from Birmingham.
Watch yourself.

I like Holyfield, but i hate cheats....i`m torn
He didn't admit it did he? He said he took some medication for a "hormonal problem". He claims he forgot what drugs he took and the name of the doctor who gave him the drugs, but he remembers one doctor's name. That doctor of course is dead

Damn, Thanks for posting.
I'm not sure how anyone can lose all respect for Holyfield unless they hadn't much respect for him in the first place. I couldn't care less if he was taking rocket fuel because the sort of heart and courage he has shown through the years has not been enhanced by drugs. Holyfield has been fighting for so many years, it's hard to imagine him using drugs for so long without being caught.
And you have proof of this? God damn leave the poor man alone... Hes done so much for the sport of boxing and this is how you treat one of the top 20 boxers of all time. Ill laugh at you when he becomes World Champ for a 5th time.
You are as delusional as he is if you think he is ever going to be HW champ again..
I dont have to leave the poor man alone.. as a BOXING fan and a Person who has bought his PPV's I pay his salary and have every right to complain about a MAN who preaches rightuousness.. and then acts the complete opposite.. and he himself has NOW admitted he took steroids..
And if thats the case ALL he has done for boxing is dirtied it's image even more..
U think?
When did he admit it?
There are so many rumors about so many athletes and boxers. Its not fair to presume he's guilty without really knowing.

Four being Cooper, Bowe, Ruiz and Toney right. I am loving the new found hate Holyfield is getting, I couldn't stand him since like 1991. I love this.
One thing that bothers me about a large portion of the juicing shit..... Is I don't care much. So many athletes at one time or another use steroids or other forms of performance enchancing drugs... but then to single out a couple of people non-stop simply irritates me.
So Holyfield might've roided in the 90's... it's not like he went around mopping the floor with everybody using brutal KO power or something. It's American... innocent until proven guilty (although usually still guilty in the public's eye).
