Lot of questions about where Andre Ward has been this is a pretty good article done by one of the best in boxing.
Ward's trainer makes a great point referring to Melderick Taylor...saying Taylor was good enough to beat Chevez he just wasnt man enough and he says the same goes for Jason Litzau...that really hits home doesnt it.
A KO did in fact occur.
Really, it was not a KO. Taylor was not down for 10 seconds. He got up, the ref stopped, and so it was a TKO. I suppose that is what you meant.
This is false. Refs are trained to worry about time, and I would know this on two counts. Firstly, my uncle is a pro ref. Secondly, in the last round, a red light behind the turnbuckles signals when there is 10 secs left and Steele either missed it or ignored it.
Either way it was a mistake.
Steele never said he was wrong for stopping the fight so there was no mistake made. It was his judgment call when it all comes down to it.
Back on topic, I never really seen anything special about Ward. He's just a wannabe Roy Jones.
Taylor was never the same, but he was still pretty good directly afterwards. He moved up to welterweight and beat undefeated Aaron Davis for the WBA title.
Then his managers for some reason let him go up yet again and fight Terry Norris and he got stopped, then stopped again later on at 147 by Cristano Espana.
Espana was very underrated in my opinion, but he had the bad luck running into Quartey. Taylor was done against Top opposition. Norris was way too big for him.
Taylor probably should have won that fight, but have you seen him after that fight? He lost it completely, the speed everything... Well, in my opinion chavez bashed everything out of him that night. I heard taylor was pissing blood for months after that fight. I don't think he was ever the same physically from the beating he got. Like he def won by landing more shots, but chavez landed the way stronger punches that made taylor piss blood for months. In their rematch, taylor got his ass kicked

Ward is the truth and that damn manger of his needed to stop hiding him...Let him face the tough guy so the his experience comes at a much more rapid pace than it has been so far...
I am just a Taylor fan is all. Fastest hands I can remember seeing. The guy won gold at 17 and his condition now makes me sad. I almost fought a promoter that used him in a show here a few years back. I called the guy and cussed him out after seeing his advertisement using Taylors status and creditials to push the show. I would have beat the guys ass if I could, and I wouldn't attend the show.

OK. In any case though it was an unfortunately complicated sequence of events, and not a 'robbery'. A KO did in fact occur.
Peace
Buddy: the point of the Taylor comparison though was not to suggest that Ward is in that league.
A KO is a KO even with 2 seconds left in the fight. It's not the ref's job to worry about the time.

It was a strange choice of words, but I see what he's saying.
It would make more sense to say they weren't experienced enough, that they were kids (22, 23 years old).
Taylor had a victory in hand and out-manned Chavez for much of the fight...but Steele stole victory from him.
Andre Ward will never been what Taylor was. He does not have the chin or heart.
Ward couldn't carry the jock of Meldrick Taylor. Taylor was a phenom and Ward is not gonna be close to that. Taylor was too much of a man and traded with Chavez too much which cost him his career in the long run.

Yeah, I read Ward's trainer talking about that and I was like "what fight are you talking about?"
If that's a case to NOT rush a guy it makes no sense.
There is some good rationale there, but still, 10-0 after two plus years without fighting anyone with a pulse? Disappointing, no matter how you cut it...
