If you think Barrera won, rewatch the fight without the audio or listen out for how incredibley one sided they are. Examples include Marquez landing a few good shots then barrera counters with one, and then Marquez catches him agian on the way out and they're going nuts about barrera's one punch. Also when Barrera hits marquez when down they don't mention it for about a round. They didn't call A LOT of Marquez's shots while not missing even the most insignificant jab from barrera. Also in the 12th barrera was holding and leading with his head and not a peep. It's amazing how one sided they were, it was too much for me.
BTW i had Marquez winning it, even though I wanted Barrera to win in my heart.
yes i had marquez winning but pretty poorly against an obviously sliding Barrera.............I AM MORE CONVINCED THAN EVER THAT A PRIME BARRERA WOULD HAVE CRUSHED MARQUEZ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What are you talking about? Barrera looked fantastic in that fight. So did Marquez. Are you just going to label a fighter as "sliding" once they hit a certain age, regardless of how they actually look in the ring?
I wasn't actually scoring the fight, so take what I say with a grain of salt, but I'll give my opinion. I agreed for the most part with the HBO scores except that they gave rounds 8 and 9 to Barrera when I thought they probably belonged to Marquez. That would mean Marquez would be winning by 3 points, which is close to what the judges had. The judges would have also had the fight closer if Nady had ruled correctly on the knockdown, but he didn't, and obviously the judges have to go along with the ruling. If that hadn't happened and Barrera hadn't stupidly taken a swing at a downed Marquez, they would have had Marquez winning by 2 points I think, which is is very reasonable.
118-109 is a stupidly lopsided score in my opinion, but whatever, the right man won, and they are having a rematch anyways so no harm done. Just like losing those incredible fights to Barrera did nothing to hurt Morales's legacy, this loss won't hurt the legend of Barrera.
IF U HAD IT 115 -112 WITHOUT THE KNOCKDOWN THEN WITH IT IT WOULD OF BEEN 114 113 FOR BARERRA...UNLESS U JUST MAKE UP YOUR SCORES OFF THE TOP OF YOUR HEAD WITH NO CREDABILTY
I had it 115-112 with the knockdown... With the knockdown it would have been 113-113 (if you are still going to give Barerra a 10-8 round because of a one punch knockdown in a round where he was completely dominated)... That round would have been a 8-8 round if I was a judge... I'm not even sure if you can do that but, he lost the round to me so I would have gave him 9 and I would have gave JMM a 8 for getting knocked down... Then comes the point deduction from MAB which makes it an 8-8 round... The point taken for the hit after the knockdown was not questionable to me... Which makes it 113-112 JMM with the knockdown...
Jim Lampley was all over MABs balls. JMM did enough to win the fight by at least 3 points. I couldn't believe what I was hearing during the HBO commentary. Lampley is always this biased with the house fighter, watch MAB vs Morales 3, Mayweather vs Judah (first 4 rounds) just to name a couple. It seems they have a fixed agenda at times, after all this is a business.
Best post of the thread. Watch that fight and note the absolute ball-salivating by Lampley, he can't wait for the fight after party so he can canoodle Barrera's nuts till the early morning. It was a super-close fight, but Lampley sees it as only one way. Saturday night was even worse, you'd think Barrera was actually winning the fight near the end the way it was being described. It really started to fuck me off. As I've said before, I used to like the way they'd amp up the fight, but the biased commentating overrides that now and I just wish they'd shut the fuck up. The British commentary is so much better at the moment it's ridiculous. May not be as witty or as entertaining, but completely neutral and just pure fight fans with no agenda.
I remember watching on sky sports at the timeand round round 8 the commentators sadi the scorer fro HBO had Barrera up by a round. I could barerly fucking believe it
well everybody is cheerleading for Barrera the mexician warrior that alway proved many people wrong and wrong againt.
Roy Jones jr fav min fighter is MAB too and for me too

Very true. It was the knockdown which made the difference for me! If it was 10-8 for Barrera I had him winning the fight!
according to fightnews all the judges gave the 7th round 10-9 for jmm, so what are bitches crying about that round, the judges obviously saw that marco knocked down marquez and thats why they gave him a draw minus the point deduction.....
116-111 Marquez.
What the hell are you talking about mate? What do you mean thats why they gave him a draw minus a point. It was a fucking draw anyway regardless of the knockdown! JMM hurt Barrera and was catching him but it wasnt a 10-8 round! Barrera was still throwing throughout the round! Just cause you hurt a guy doesnt mean it should automatically be a 10-8 round!!!!!!!!!
I have to disagree with the scores though... 118-100, 116-111, 116-111... I thought the fight was closer... I thought it was 115-112... 114-112 with the knockdown...

NO KNIVES IS NOT ON POINT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Knives has never not been on point.
He's always on point.
I shouldn't have even said it.
Leave my opinion to me and those who respect me, potna.
See, even if the knockdown counted....it was still an even round because of the point deduction. I thought it was legit, but Marquez won every single round after that knockdown. The reason why the fight was lopsided on the judges cards....was because they scored the round possibly 10-7.
JMM was whipping Barrera's ass bad and he almost stopped him.....10-8 plus you add the 1 point deduction.
I agree that juan manuel almost stopped marco int 7th but ironically it was marco who knocked juan manuel down at the end of the round. I thought round 6 belongs to marquez and marco may have won 2 rounds from round 8 - 12. I say it was very difficult to see who's winning in those rounds because they are so close that each round could have gone either way. Well, depending on each person's bias.
NO KNIVES IS NOT ON POINT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Any version of JMM beats any version of Barrera. Quit crying.
